Kitty Cash has been taking New York by storm. Since the release of her mixtape Love the Free, folks have been getting very excited about the upcoming producer- including us. We took a moment out of the lovely Kitty Cash’s day to discuss New York, becoming jaded, and her music.
Where are you from?
I am from Brooklyn, NY…I hear us natives are very rare
What’s your favorite thing you carry?
My favorite thing…I walk around with a rose quartz…its a stone of unconditional love that opens the heart chakra to all forms of love… from self-love to romance.
Where are you wanting to go next with your music?
I definitely want to move into production.
Is New York where you wanna stay?
I am very much a New York girl…I think I could do LA, Paris, London for like 6 months- a year each and I would definitely stay in Trinidad for a few months I love it there! I really am an island girl at heart! But know I will always find my way back to NYC… New York is home, corner stores and after hours! You don’t realize how essential this is until you are gone, haha!
If we were to give you $10, what you buy at a dollar store?
I would pray that the dollar store had this cute furry pink bag I saw at another dollar store and buy a whole bunch of them. (see below)
Are most of friends creatives too?
Actually, I would say it is split right in the middle. Some of my friends are creatives ( singers, artists, producers, graphic designers, etc…), some work in fashion, others are in Med school or work in finance. I love that everyone is in a different field, we have the best conversations.
Do you think New York is a nourishing place for an artists or do you think its easy to become jaded? I think New York is a great place to get inspired. You are surrounded by such a diversified group of people who are always moving and always doing, so in that sense it is rich and nourishing for your mind. Most of my friends do multiple things in New York you are never JUST 1 thing. In the same token everything moves so fast that at times New York can also become overwhelming where you do need to leave, clear your mind and then jump back in to the swing of things. I do find that a lot of people who aren’t from NYC may loose themselves in the city, it is important to stay grounded and true to yourself…super easy to become jaded and/or lost.
What are you looking forward to most for fashion week?
This Galore party!!!!!!
That’s what we like to hear! Are you djing some parties?
Yup!
If you could serenade any girl/boy with your music who would it be?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh (I debated long and hard if I should answer this ahahaha)…Rihanna & Abel Tesafaye (The Weeknd)
What are we expecting next from you?
“Love The Free” Part 2 will drop when it starts to warm up and a few other surprises I have to keep a secret for now! MEOWWWWWWWWWW!
