What was your first job?
My first job ever was at a record store in San Diego called Music Trader. It was awesome.

How did you guys meet?
Well Julie’s been crocheting a lot longer than me. She was my crochet teacher; that’s how we met. The first thing I ever made was a scarf for my sister. It was grey and super soft. The yarn was made from baby alpaca hair. My sister lives in New York, so it came in handy during the winter.

Favorite musical duos:
Drenge
Dolomite Junior
Pity Party
JJUUJJUU
White Stripes

Worst part of touring with a female?
We use a lot of toilet paper. Just kidding. There isn’t really a worst part. Touring with another female is kind of the best. I wouldn’t have it any other way. So the best part is everything.

What can we expect on the album?
So much. It’s a really honest, immediate album. We didn’t want to kill ourselves making it. We wanted to have fun and we did. It’s snapshot of the first two years of us as a band: Deap Vally chapter 1.

Where did the name Deap Vally come from?
When I was in 4th grade I was in a 4 girl posse. We had so many adventures together. There was a movie out at the time called “Now and Then” about for female best friends. We were obsessed with that movie because they were just like us. We each had a character that we related to and took their name as a nickname.
