We have first dibs on an exclusive sneak peek of NYC Sex Trash’s new collection. We sat down with designer Stephanie Paterek to see what influenced her recent collection. We love her pieces here at Galore and have even included them in our steamy Erotic calendar. Take a peek at the risqué lookbook and vintage inspired pieces with an edge.
What made you start your lingerie line Sex Trash?
I grew up in a creative household where we didn’t watch TV, we made arts and crafts! My father owns a world renowned vintage Porsche restoration shop. Growing up I was surrounded by 50′s Porsche’s, vintage guitars and my greaser father who continues to be an inspiring entrepreneur. Design and creating was my escape growing up, so I wanted to create a lingerie line that would inspire and empower daring and curious women.
Where did you get inspiration for the name?
A little tribute to my two favorite boutiques growing up: Vivienne Westwood’s fetish boutique SEX and the iconic East Village rock and roll institution Trash and Vaudeville, whose rawness opened my eyes as a young girl from Jersey.
What inspired your current collection?
The Sully Collection is about refining our look for the FW14 season. We played around with beautiful hand sewn lace, soft leather and dark feminine silhouettes. We are growing into the next stage of our company, closing doors to the past but never forgetting our roots.
Is there any piece you consider a favorite?
Yes, during a dark time in my life I was focused more than ever and threw everything I had into one specific piece. It ended up being a black studded basque with silver leather studded fringe epaulettes. A few weeks later, Lady Gaga bought it and wore for about a week straight! She wore it on the Today Show, to yoga class and played John Lennon’s piano at Yoko Ono’s house. The pay off was huge!
We know you repurpose vintage silhouettes for your designs, any favorite era of lingerie you particularly enjoy?
Would be the the 1950-60′s . Women had pride in their femininity, they always looked impeccable even with their lingerie. Corsets and girdles have a great molding power to achieve the hourglass figure.Quality and attention to detail was crucial in lingerie manufacturers back then and it’s hard to find that kind of quality these days.
