Mississippi boy Dent May is home and stoned for Christmas – just as the holidays should be. His new song “I’ll Be Stoned For Christmas” is a welcomed addition to his quirky psych-pop and our new favorite yuletide jam. Take a hit, eat some gingerbread cookies and read along to the holidays according to Deny May.

What is best holiday treat to eat when you have the munchies?
Wow, where do I start? I’m not much of a sweets guy, so I have to say some sort of casserole. Broccoli & rice casserole, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, shrimp & mirliton casserole, breakfast casserole, chicken spaghetti casserole, macaroni casserole. They’re all amazing, especially as leftovers. I often think of songwriting in terms of making a casserole. Just toss in your favorite ingredients, add some cheese, and bake.
Which holiday movie do you recommend after blazing up?
I try to watch A Muppet Family Christmas, which we still have on VHS taped from television, every year. It gets pretty trippy, especially when the Fraggles step on the scene, and the late 80s commercials are fun. Jim Henson is from Mississippi, like me, and I wanted to be a puppeteer before I started making music.
What’s one thing that would put you on Santa’s “naughty” list?
I wouldn’t mind taking Mrs. Claus out for a night of cocktails, dinner, and dancing.
What’s your favorite non-Mariah Carey Christmas song?
I just discovered Luther Vandross’s “The Mistletoe Jam (Everybody Kiss Somebody).” It’s sexy, funky, and perfect for those late, drunken holiday nights after the kids go to sleep.
With the new year approaching, can we expect a new Dent May album!?
I’m definitely releasing an album in 2015. I’m taking my time though, because I want it to be one of the best pop albums ever.
