Sunday was the season 4 premier of GIRLS on HBO. While many of you were distracted as Marnie had her ass eaten, I was admiring the barrettes worn by Hannah and Shoshanna. It seemed to me as though hair clips were a lost art form, but perhaps they just made a come back? While Shoshanna’s hair clip was no surprise, Hannah’s was honestly shocking! It’s rare the super-chill-I-don’t-give-a-fuck hipster wears anything girly on top of her unkempt hair. I would usually argue against hair pieces that look like you’ve never been outside the walls of your all girls school, but I’m not mad at the relaxed barrette remix. By using it as an ornament instead of a way to hold back your bangs, it looks effortless and cool. We NEVER want to look like we tried too hard, but sometimes that requires trying really hard. Take a fashionable lesson from Hannah (I cannot believe I just said that) and get your barrette on with one of these options.
