After not hearing much from Lil’ Wayne lately, save his drama with record label Cash Money, we’re happy to see that he hasn’t lost his touch! While it’s not Tha Carter V that we have been waiting for, we have to admit that Lil’ Wayne is one of those rappers that makes us forget the originals when he raps over well known beats.
His new album includes Beyonce‘s “Drunk In Love,” Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Nigga,” and Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type.” We take an ode to our favorite songs that Lil’ Wayne has sampled on past mixtapes.
1. Marvin’s Room
Leave it to Lil’ Tunechi to turn a song about a lost lover into a song that makes us want to fuck for hours.
2. Cry For You
If you haven’t heard the original by September, you are missing out. However, we always love a heart wrenching song from Lil’ Wayne as well.
3. I Gotta Feeling
Pretty sure the only way we weren’t absolutely sick of this song in 2010 was if Weezy rapped over it.
4. Rolling In The Deep
Amazing how badass this beat can sound without Adele crooning over it.
5. Poker Face
“She said don’t call her a dyke.. but that’s gay,” couldn’t have said it better ourselves Wayne!
6. Banned From TV
If Tunechi had passed up this epic beat, it would’ve been a damn shame.
7. Sure Thing
So hard to decide who’s version is sexier, his or Miguel’s. We’ll settle for adding both to our sex playlist.
