We got a chance to ask the ever so babely Ana Tanaka some of her deepest darkest beauty secrets. See the Storm Model star in this brand new editorial with Chloe Lloyd and shot by Frankie Mark below!
How did you get your starts in the modeling industry?
The owner of a hair salon approached me and asked me to be in a shoot for his salon window and business cards. My mum was studying at the time and pulled out the business cards in class to show everyone (typical proud mommy behavior). Anyway, one of the ladies happened to work in accounts at an agency in Manchester (where I’m from). Ever since then there was no looking back :)
Who are some of your style icons/ inspirations?
My stye is always inspired by travel more than it is by individual people or celebrities. I spent time in Morocco before I came to LA and basically drew inspiration from all the random items I squeezed into my suitcase. I love anyone with creative individual style – vintage one of a kind pieces and anything else kooky excites me! I do love Valentina Muntoni (creator of Rat and Boa), she has a great hippie vibe.
What are some trends you’re looking forward to wearing this spring?
I don’t really follow trends. I like to wear whatever feels good to me that day. Since my trip to Morocco I’ve been into wearing crochet, colorful prints, flares and flowy dresses.
We love your ombre hair! What would you do with your hair if you weren’t rocking the ombre vibe?
I recently colored my hair for the first time in my life! I had to for work, so if it wasn’t ombre right now I’d probably have the same super straight black hair I’ve had my entire life.
How do you achieve the perfect daytime smokey eye?
So, I’m obsessed with my MAC brown smokey pallet that a make-up artist put together for me (Kid, Espresso, Charcoal, and Carbon). No shimmer and the tones are nice and natural – perfect for day time.
How does your day makeup differ from your night makeup?
I don’t like wearing too much makeup at night as I get way too excited and forget to touch it up, so I just add a nice lip liner (Bobbi Brown Rum Raisin) and my favorite lip plumping gloss (Buxom).
