DJ Lindsay Luv knows festival music and style like no other. In honor of Coachella, she provided us with the ideal getting ready playlist, her festival dressing do’s and don’ts and the best artists to watch at this year’s desert fest! Check it out and you’ll be Coachella-ready in no time.
You do tons of official sound styling for Victoria’s Secret: You recently put together the official music for the Victoria’s Secret SWIM party and their Spotify station. What was your VS Swim party vibe for music?
I LUV working with Victoria’s Secret for all of their sound styling needs; from the DJ booth at events to online music marketing via Spotify or TheFuture.fm. ‘Swim’ may be my very favorite time of year though as the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer and the VS teeny bikinis are getting hotter!
This year the brand debuted their first Swim Special on TV and threw a VIP listening party in celebration of it. My playlist kept the party going for the Angel*ic crowd and extended online to all their fans. Just like a day at the beach I wanted to celebrate the playful nature of the beach bombshells with fun upbeat music perfect for a day splashing around with friends.
The playlist ventured between more mainstream pop classics like Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and of course Behati’s fave, Maroon Five, to more indie vibes from artists like MisterWives, Gavin Turek, Zella Day and Tove Lo.
How would you describe your style and what’s your go-to dj outfit?!
I always lean towards my New York standard of rocker black chic on a daily basis but now that I am based in Cali’s year-round sunshine I mix it up a bit with some bohemian and beachy looks.
When I’m not styled out I am easily in a pair of cut-offs a soft T and gladiator sandals. As for work, if my events hashtag #NoirNights is any indication, my go-to is always black on black on black. I love a simple and sleek black silhouete with tons of rad bling, fun shoes and a great handbag or pop color lip!
Do you glam up your beauty to DJ events or do you like the natural look?
Generally speaking I like to glam up my look when DJ’ing but lately I’ve also been experimenting with an understated natural look as well. I work with so many great beauty brands like Giorgio Armani, Benefit, Bare Minerals, Nars, Tarte, Maybelline etc so it’s hard not to want to experiment with all the amazing products.
I love a smoky eye or a pop lip – but a luminous or bronzed light makeup look is fun too! If nothing else, always a great moisturizer and mascara! Luving Glossier, Lancome and Caudalie for their skin products and my new Clarisonic to wipe it all away.
Your LuvLifestyle blog at LindsayLuv.com is super cute! Did you DJ before you started it and how did you get the idea to combine all of your talents?
I’ve been DJing for around 7 years now so DJing came first! I wanted a site where it went beyond a summary of just what I am doing and involved the reader into my lifestyle. The blog is basically my mouthpiece for everything; a place where I can share a sampling of my latest events and campaigns as well as share insider snaps and notes, tunes and style tips as well as links to shop my looks.
It also functions as my living resume so anyone can easily learn more about me and my career highlights.

It’s festival season and we’ve had you spin for Galore at Coachella before: What are some festival outfit dont’s?
Don’t try and ‘follow’ any festival style guide. There is nothing less appealing than anyone dressing up in a costume of what they think they should look like for a festival. Rather make your festival looks an updated extension of your own personal style.
Dig through your own archives rather than solely going out to buy festival fashions. And as much as I LUV them for a tropical vacay or whatnot, let’s retire the festival flower crowns already. Let some tired trends fade away like last year’s lineup.
What are your festival outfit dos!?
Have fun with your fashions! While you don’t need to be a caricature of your former self, you can still experiment with some fitting festival fashions. If fringe is your thing then bring.it.on. Now is not the time to be shy!
Definitely don’t be afraid to embrace some trends like bell bottoms or clogs just make sure you are wearing the outfit and it isn’t wearing you! And above all else, make sure your shoes are as comfortable as they are cool!!! Function over fashion when putting in long hot days on the field. Same goes for your beauty routine. Stuff that won’t melt off your face in the desert heat.
Who are the Ones to Watch at Coachella this year?
My top picks for this year are definitely: Alabama Shakes, Angus & Julia Stone, St Lucia, Saint Motel, RAC, Milky Chance, Chet Faker, the War on Drugs, Hot Natured, Cedric Gervais, Duke Dumont, Jack White and my friends from Kasabian and Night Terrors of 1927!
