Are Emoji-Printed Sweatpants The Hottest Spring Trend?

Every year when Spring rolls around, it’s like we all enter a communal state of amnesia. We expect that every day is going to be sunny with a light breeze and while tights may still be mandatory, our cumbersome winter jackets can immediately begin their yearly hibernation.  But that’s not what Spring’s like at all.  Spring nights and mornings are cold, the wind can be unbearably gusty, and more often than not, you find yourself shivering because you were too stubborn to dress appropriately.

But Spring also means one other very important thing: time to buy new clothes.  Every year, like clockwork, the fashion industry floods the market with trends on trends on trends.  This year we’ve seen the unfortunate rise of the culottes, gotten bold with statement sunglasses, and felt confident enough to declare our love for Mary Jane to the world, but according to Google’s first ever fashion report, none of these trends are what we’re really searching for.

Apparently, all we really want are emoji-printed sweatpants (or jogging pants, as Google likes to call them).  And by we, we mean all of us.  That’s part of the appeal of sweatpants. Whether you’re a man or a woman, a teenager or an adult, unless you’re Eva Mendes, you probably have at least one pair to your name.

While this was one fashion trend we didn’t quite see coming, it’s not actually surprising.  Everybody loves emojis.  We fill our text messages with them, so why not take our adoration one step farther and incorporate them into our IRL lives?
