When 18-year-old Madeline Stuart decided she wanted to become a model, she realized she’d have to do a lot of work to change her lifestyle. The Australian teen has struggled with her weight ever since she was a child; she had her work cut out for her. But here’s the real kicker—Madeline Stuart has Down syndrome.
According to the Huffington Post, studies show that children with Down syndrome are more likely to be overweight. When Madeline started a regimen that incorporated a healthy diet and regular exercise, however, she started seeing results almost immediately. Since losing 45 pounds, Madeline has become an avid swimmer, dancer, cheerleader and gymnast.
“Madeline would like to be a model, modeling will help change societies view of people with Down Syndrome, exposure will help to create acceptance in life.” reads her Facebook page.
