It’s hot hot hot in Miami, not just because of the sun’s shimmering rays. Sizzling models in amazing bikinis and the designers who created them are descending upon the city to showcase the coolest upcoming trends in swimwear. In honor of Miami Swimweek, we’re interviewing all the swimwear designers you absolutely need to know.  Stay tuned.

Static Loves Galore

First up on our list are Andrea Bottiani and Sibel Pistar, creators of e-swim shop Static Swimwear. Their e-store is a destination for fashion conscious girls to click for a curated assortment of cool swimwear. Aware that many of the most coveted bikini brands are unaffordable, they’ve also designed a line of basics for the site that is anything BUT basic. All of their designs run less than $100 and are made in LA, perfect to mix and match as separates or wear as a match. Static Swimwear is a go-to for all the beach essentials you could ever need, so we asked their advice on the best way to bring a bikini from beachtime to party time.

Tell us about your best and worst bikini moment.

S: The best was definitely seeing Keller Rose in our Sunset Top and Topanga Bottom. When I saw that, I was like “YAS girl”!!!

A: My best moment so far was Minimale Animale’s first runway show. It really made me feel like there was a fashion minded presence in swimwear. It blew me away and I left feeling really inspired.

Who are your ultimate swimwear muses?

S: Brigitte Bardot! She always looked sexy, confident and effortlessly cool.

A: I love Hanalei Reponty right now. She’s totally capturing everyone’s mermaid fantasy and she is both sexy and sporty. Another beach babe where it seems so effortless, it’s like she’s not real!

What’s your favorite vibe to go for on the beach and how do you get it?

S: My beach vibe is always about feeling relaxed. Whether it’s a skimpy suit or more covered up, depending on the mood. If you feel comfortable in the suit you’re wearing you’ll ultimately always look and feel good!

A: I’m all about being active on the beach! I’m usually running around with my dog, Nacho. I love skimpy suits, as long as it’s done right and the fit is spot on. I also never hit the beach without an amazing pair of sunnies and some sea salt spray. Gotta keep the hair lookin’ good!

We’re psyched to look cute at Swim Week. Can you each tell us how to style up a bikini so it becomes a “look” and not just a swimsuit?

S: I love seeing our Pacific One Piece worn as a body suit under some high waisted Levis. The low back and subtle side boob shows just enough skin while leaving a little to the imagination. It’s also just a REALLY comfortable suit.

A: There’s a lot of swim that’s taking inspiration from lingerie right now. To hit the parties or runway shows, I would throw on a black bralette top, like our Sunset Tri Top or Minimale Animale’s Shameless Top, with a sheer tee and a leather mini or shorts.
