Aubrey O’Day, Shannon Bex of Danity Kane Are Having More Fun As Dumblonde

Fans are still mourning the very public breakup of the beloved “Making The Band” super girl-group Danity Kane. After ten years of pop success, which was unfortunately marked by turmoil between bandmates, Danity Kane officially called it quits last year. Yet out of the ashes Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex rise to form Dumblonde. This time the girls are calling the shots and proving once again, that blondes have the most fun.

“Power and sexuality don’t look the same on any one woman and they don’t have to.”

Aubrey and Shannon are bringing back the iconic blonde bombshell look. “I’ve been every other hair color and there’s been nothing as special as being a blonde,” said Aubrey. After announcing the new duo, fans finally got a good look at Dumblonde with their first steamy video, “White Lightning” – just one of six videos completed and on the way. Yes, these are two hot blondes but don’t think for a second that their sexuality isn’t powerful.

“Power and sexuality don’t look the same on any one woman and they don’t have to,” said Aubrey. After years in the limelight Aubrey has heard time after time that she is ‘overly sexual’ while Shannon, married for twelve years now, is pinned as being conservative. “Neither of us are either one of those things,” said Aubrey. It’s all about embracing sexuality and owning what it means to you and the duo are owning their sexuality on their own terms with Dumblonde.

“A lot of the music industry now is the wild wild west out there and anything goes.”

Sporting the same shade of blonde hair and tan hour-glass figures; Aubrey and Shannon are looking more alike than ever but they are all about embracing each other’s independence. They are celebrating girl power and friendship while respecting one another’s individual journey, said Aubrey. And while their independence and sexuality are inherent in their new project, that does not erase the continued pressures of being a woman in the music industry. “As you get older it gets better but I don’t know that it goes away,” said Aubrey. The duo have seen the good, the bad and the ugly in the music industry especially when it comes to the speculative spotlight put on women in the music industry.

“You loose sight of making the most genuine art,” Aubrey said, “A lot of the music industry now is the wild wild west out there and anything goes.” It’s all about balance, happiness and the pursuit of truthful art that keep the duo passionate. “There’s two worlds you live in and it’s your responsibility to find that balance,” said Shannon.

Shedding their toxic Danity Kane shell, Aubrey and Shannon find new inspiration and happiness in Dumblonde. The girls take pride in knowing that this time around they produced every aspect of it from creative direction to their own music videos. The record takes inspiration from the world of dance, ‘80s pop and modern hitmakers like La Roux and The Ting Tings. “We were really trying to go outside of ourselves and we want people to enjoy it and be inspired by our story,” said Shannon. You can grab their debut album, dumblonde, out September 25.
