Wanna hit the theater this weekend to watch Jesse Eisenberg be cute and awkward again? Planning on staying in but need help figuring out what is the best looking love story streaming on Netflix? Here are Galore’s picks for what to see this week in theaters and on Netflix.

IN THEATERS:

The End of the Tour – July 31st

In 1996, immediately succeeding the publication of Infinite Jest, acclaimed author David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel) embarks on a 5-day book tour and interview with writer and reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) of Rolling Stone. Wallace wants something better than he has, while Lipsky wants what Foster has already. It’s receiving great reviews and looks to be a touching biographical drama based upon Lipsky’s critically acclaimed memoir about this encounter with Wallace that was published following Wallace’s suicide in 2008. This indie is hitting theaters with a limited release on July 31st.

That Sugar Film – July 31st

Everyone knows that eating too much sugar isn’t good for you, but what many people are not aware of is how much sugar is in packaged foods marketed as “healthy.” In the style of Super Size Me, actor and documentarian Damon Gameau commits to a 60-day sugar diet, but it’s not the type of sugar you might think. He attempts to expose the refined sugars hidden in what many perceive to be “healthy” packaged foods such as cereals, smoothies, muesli, and low-fat yogurt. He maintains the same caloric intake and the same amount of exercise as his sugar-free lifestyle preceding the experiment and exposes dramatic, life-threatening changes in his health. See for yourself when That Sugar Film lands in theaters with a limited release, also on July 31st.

ON NETFLIX:

Comet – July 28th

In a parallel universe, Dell (Justin Long) is a cynical young man who falls in love with Kimberly (Emmy Rossum) and they develop a 6-year relationship that begins during a meteor shower. The feature length directorial debut from NYU Tisch grad Sam Esmail, this film pays great attention to color and shot composition in its exploration of a world different from our own. A friend of mine recently described this as one of the best movies she’s ever seen. If that’s still not good enough for you, give it watch simply for a cute romance between the likeable Justin Long and Emmy Rossum. It is on Netflix as of yesterday, July 28th and it’s already on my list.

Casting By – August 1st

Have you ever wondered what goes in to the casting of a Hollywood feature film? This documentary tells the story of Marion Dougherty, one of the most iconic and influential casting directors that changed the faces of Hollywood in the late 1960s with films like Midnight Cowboy, Pretty Baby, Full Metal Jacket and Batman to name just a few. The doc features hundreds of interviews from industry legends and explores the crutial role that casting directors play but are rarely recognized for. If you love movies, this is a definite add to your list when it hits the ‘flix on Saturday, August 1st.
