Let’s say you happen to have a picture on your phone of your boyfriend or girlfriend’s nasty puke from clubbing the night before. Yuck, I know. But it’s Sunday afternoon and you have managed to get out of bed and drag yourself to a local pizza joint—if you’re in the market to lose some extra fat then pull out that puke photo and get a good look at it right before you decide to chow down. In a recent study that is going to be published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition researchers researchers found that, “Pairing feelings of disgust with [high-calorie foods] could reduce the likelihood of choosing these foods.” Apparently any disgusting picture will do the trick including but not limited to, gore, guts and ex-girlfriends (just kidding). All it takes is a few milliseconds of looking at the gross pic for your brain to process the disgust you experience. So next time you see the infamous bright yellow arches somewhere on the horizon…google something along the lines of “dog shit” and you can kiss that 1,000 calorie burger goodbye, happily.
