In most cases, an outfit is not outfit without a proper hat. Just ask avant-garde fashionistas like Daphne Guinness and Anna Dello Russo. It’s time we take to our heads and make more of an impact. Luckily, Milliner Gigi Burris is here to save us from our incomplete looks.
Check out some pics of Gigi’s Autumn 2013 collection as well as our interview with the designer here, and in our latest issue, available NOW!
What piece from your collection can’t you live without?
My mohawk beanie. Its soft cashmere and kept my head warm all winter long. It’s a cool piece that toughens up an outfit in a subtle and luxurious way.
Who are your fashion influences?
I am constantly drawn to the 1920′s and Victorian era for inspiration. Both have a delicate elegance that I gravitate to.
What type of women do you see wearing your hats?
It takes a woman with confidence to pull off the more avant-garde styles. But the pieces that are more in the spirit of modern classics can be for any woman that appreciates uniquely completing an ensemble.
Who’s your favorite woman in fashion?
I admire Anna Della Russo for her authentic love of fashion and her adventurous dress. I would love for her to wear some headpieces!
What’s the best part about being a woman in fashion?
Being a woman making women’s hats means every season I have a completely new trousseau of samples to where out and about ;)
