Going out is fun in theory, but sometimes when it’s 9 p.m. and time to get out of your sweatpants, it can take superhuman strength to rally.

While some turn to Red Bull or other substances that make you go “I’m up” in the night, we have a much healthier suggestion for you: buy yourself a going out tops.

You know, the kind of top you can only get away with wearing when the sun goes down, you’re going out to someplace that’s not a dive bar, and you wanna look kinda slutty.

Although going out tops more or less went extinct after the 2000s, since every fashion trend from that decade is coming back, why not bring back part of what made the oughts so great in the first place?

The way we see it, if you have a top hanging up in your closet that you’re absolutely obsessed with but can only wear when you’re going out, it’ll make you kinda stoked when your friend hits you up to say she’s hosting a party that starts at 11pm.

Sure, you won’t get all eight hours of your beauty sleep, but think of the Instagram pictures you’re going to be able to take.

Yeah, we thought it was a good idea.

Allow us to dazzle you with the options we came up with.

These days it’s hard to find a top that’s girly without being too girly and pink without being too millennial pink.  Plus it looks like the twin sister of the most iconic going out top of all time. What being a victim of revenge porn is really like

I was being blackmailed by a stranger that hid behind a computer screen.

I woke up every morning with 50 texts and emails from friends, family, and employers that received a personal message from this anonymous blackmailer, containing nude photos with a description of my name, my age, and where I went to school. Great, right? He found all this info on me via LinkedIn.

After a three-month journey of pure humiliation and anxiety, I finally accepted that this was the reality of my life.

Many people who I’ve told this story to have wondered:

How did you deal with it for 3 months?

Cried.

How did it go away?

Time.

How did you solve it?

I didn’t.

Did you ever figure out who it was?

Nope.

I couldn’t even put a face to my perpetrator because he used fake names and photos with every attempt he made to contact me.

READ ALSO: Blac Chyna is bringing the revenge porn conversation to a national audience on GMA

Unfortunately, this happens a lot, where the perpetrator will not identify himself. This makes it very difficult for law enforcement to move forward with any charges. Technology and the law have yet to catch up with each other.

Not only did this affect the sanity of my life, but my friends’ lives too. My attacker was also trying to harass my friends under my name. Over the three-month duration of his harassment, my blackmailer decided to get creative (clearly, he had too much time on his hands). He made fake profiles of me on every social media platform and harassed important employers, friends I barely talk to anymore, and even some family members.

I had to deal with this every day while continuing to go about my daily life acting like everything was fine. I wasn’t letting this pathetic human, who couldn’t even identify himself, control my life and emotions.

I ignored every single attempt he made to contact me. He used fake photos and names every time and I knew it was him. I figured if I ignored him long enough, he would give up. Sure enough, he did.

The last message he sent me was through Facebook and he was pretending to be a woman named Heidi. I wouldn’t wish his madness on my worst enemy.

A close friend of mine had this happened to her years back, I felt like she was the only one I could talk to. 21-year old Katherine*, like many of us, shared explicit content with her former boyfriend and ended up being shamed for it.

When this stranger hacked into her computer files, he found a video he wanted. He made her video go viral and made it look like she posted it herself and was in the act of producing it. The truth was, this random man on the internet, whose IP address was tracked to Sweden, was posting her video on adult websites. Every time she found a video of herself, she requested it be taken down. He would find ways to contact her and say things like, “If you take it down one more time, I will post it on three more sites.”

READ ALSO: People who work in these industries are most likely to cheat with a colleague

“It was the most helpless I’ve ever felt,” she says.

“He would post everything he hacked on this site, then boast about himself and tear the girls apart, making awful comments about their bodies,” she says. “People would also request girls for him to hack; it was awful.”

“I contacted lawyers and the websites. These sites were run overseas, so our laws had no meaning,” Katherine recalls. “We had no power whatsoever; my only option became to sit back and let it run its course, which meant being publicly humiliated for years. It still gets brought up to this day, but I’ve tried my best to put it in the past.”

Because I knew what had happened to Katherine, my worst fear about taking my own issue to the police was the lack of info I had on him, and worries of the police just laughing me off.

I shouldn’t have to feel this way about my privacy being disrupted. No victims should ever feel guilty of their actions that may have caused the violation. You are allowed to show off your body and feel sexy. You are allowed to have a sexual persona. You are allowed to wear what you want, look how you want, and share it how you choose.

Why do the victims suffer the consequences the most?

Some legit lessons you can learn from each Powerpuff girl

In the 90’s and early 2000’s, cartoon network had plenty of shows about villains and superheroes, but the one show that changed the game was The Powerpuff Girls.

The show taught us that we didn’t have to be boys in order to be strong and powerful enough to take down evil. It showed us that you can be girly yet fierce at the same time, plus spread an overall message of equality. They also showed us that you don’t have to wear tight fitting latex jumpsuits and be overly sexualized to make a statement.

READ ALSO: Fresh graphic tees that won’t make you look like a wannabe

One of the most important things the show exemplified was the vulnerability of each character. It taught us that it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be weak, it’s okay to be injured and ask for help. At the time, we were too young to realize how valuable these lessons were.

The Powerpuff Girls were created from sugar, spice, and everything nice combined with an accidental dose of “Chemical X.” Their father/creator was Professor Utonium, and his formula caused them to share super speed, flight, strength, eye lasers, and who knows what else.

The one thing that set them all apart? Their personalities.

Blossom

Blossom was the most intelligent of the bunch. She was a “type-A” leader that demanded justice and was willing to take on any evil by believing in herself and her sisters.

READ ALSO: Nala Wayans is redefining Cali babe style

She was confident in everything she did and reassured her sisters they were going to kickass without actually knowing the outcome.

Blossom taught us the importance of being a team leader who is fair and open to other people’s ideas. She was always down to change the plan as long as they got to save the day at the end.

Bubbles

Bubbles was the most kind-hearted and emotional of the group, but she still took down all the super villains along with her sisters. She showed us that after a long day of drama and trying to save the world, it’s normal to have feelings and need to release them.

Bubbles knew she was cute and that anyone trying to get in her way was a waste of time. The same goes for us. We are all too precious to let someone’s negativity bring us down. No one is worth your time if they aren’t adding any happiness to your life.

Bubbles warm-hearted ditziness taught us there’s nothing wrong with talking to yourself. Whether you’re empowering yourself by saying positive affirmations or trying to calm yourself down, talking to yourself helps you stay in the present instead of staying in the past.

Buttercup

Buttercup was charming, yet aggressive af and she didn’t let anyone mess with her and her sisters. She taught us the importance of standing up for yourself and not letting people tell you what to do.

Buttercup showed us that you can be feminine without being super sweet and following the rules. You’re allowed to be sassy and make people aware of when they’re pissing you off.

This photo pretty much sums it up. Buttercup wasn’t someone to fuck with, especially when she wakes up in the morning. Don’t let people mess with you.

Gigi and Zayn’s love has been immortalized in a Vogue cover

This morning, Gigi Hadid and Zayn made all their fan’s wildest dreams come true. They landed their own Vogue cover. Together.

On the one hand, it seems a little soon — yes Gigi and Zayn are one of the most “aww” inducing couples on the planet, but Kim had to marry Kanye before they got a cover together — but on the other hand, when you’re young, hot, and one of the most popular celebrity couples on the planet, who cares about convention?

READ ALSO: Miley captioned her latest tattoo pic with some Kim K shade

When Gigi and Zayn take photos on Instagram, their pictures together get millions more likes than the photos they post of just themselves. Which isn’t a dig at either of them, it’s just the way things work. Each of them has their own fans, and when they post pictures together, those fandoms collide, resulting in more likes.

Plus they’re both incredibly photogenic, and it’s hard not to double tap when so many gorgeous genes are located in one frame.

So it goes without saying that their cover photo for Vogue looks great.

Zayn’s wearing an embellished yellow blazer while brushing his nose against Gigi’s face with his eyes closed, while Gigi’s standing there in mismatched menswear, gazing out at you like yeah that’s right, I get to hit that.

READ ALSO: Instagram loves these celebs more as couples

Interestingly enough, the headline running on Vogue’s site to accompany the cover is, “Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are part of a new generation embracing gender fluidity.”

Apparently as Gigi herself remarks to Zayn over the course of the feature, which largely doesn’t have much to do with them, “I shop in your closet all the time, don’t I?”

“Yeah, but same,” Zayn responds, before making the following remarks about one of Gigi’s Anna Sui shirts:

“I like that shirt. And if it’s tight on me, so what?”

“Totally,” Gigi responds. “It’s not about gender. It’s about, like, shapes. And what feels good on you that day. And anyway, it’s fun to experiment…”

Amen girl.

How to tell if a celebrity relationship is fake

$

If you’re obsessed with the latest Hollywood gossip, you probably read the blind items. Those are the blog posts that reveal celebrities’ dirtiest secrets — but they don’t name any names. Nobody knows for sure who each piece of gossip is about.

Half the fun in blind items is racking your brain to figure out who they could possibly be about, and then texting your friends to say, “OMG, this news is WILD.”

And if you love blind items, you’ll be absolutely obsessed with “Blind Item,” a new book written by Kevin Dickson, a former editor at In Touch, and Jack Ketsoyan, a celebrity publicist.

It tells the story of an aspiring Hollywood publicist named Nicola who happens to run into a very hot, very A-list celebrity at a party for a disgraced former child star. Love, chaos, and run-ins with the paparazzi ensue.

And as if that wasn’t enough to make you want to rush to Amazon to throw it into your checkout cart, Kevin and Jack promise every piece of dirt in their book is something that actually happened in real life. But just like the blind items their book got its name from, they’re not telling which celebrities they based their characters on.

But luckily there were some things they were willing to tell us. Like why celebrities are more boring than they were 20 years ago, how studios force movie stars to use social media, and how to tell if a celebrity relationship is fake or real.

Hold onto your socks, y’all, cuz you’re about to get shook.

How did you guys decide it was time to decide it was time to take all the dirt you had on celebrities and turn it into a book?

Jack: So basically, me and Kevin met because Kevin used to work at Life and Style Magazine. We became best friends by having cocktail hour and talking about things we would hear and see with clients that we really couldn’t print. All of our friends kept saying, you guys need to put it in a book one day, you need to put it in a book one day. So that’s how it all began! We were like, you know what? It’s time that we put a book together. And here we are today.

Were there any stories that you really wanted to put in but you couldn’t or just didn’t for some reason?

Jack: There’s only one story that I wanted to put in but Kevin was like no way, we can’t do that. It’s too nasty and too gruesome for people to really believe in it. That was the only story we held back on.

Kevin: I actually really like that story. It’s really good Hollywood dish, but the characters for the novel have to be real enough people with boundaries, and when it got to the point where that would need to happen in the book, those characters would have evolved to the point where none of them would have accepted that happening to them or gone along with it.

Do either of you have a favorite piece of that you did include?

Jack: I would say the part when the two main characters go up to The Observatory in LA, and they have wild sex. It’s the ultimate, oh my god, we’re gonna do this, but we might get busted, but we’re gonna do it and have fun!

Kevin: In the book, there were two main dates, and I love the first date where they go out on a boat. I’ve heard stories about when you go out and date this very big celebrity that in order to have a private date, they have to go through all sorts of measures. So renting a boat and taking someone out to sea, and then having to hide in a shipping crate so the paparazzi doesn’t find you, but still managing to be romantic? I love that.

I feel like those are always the kind of celebrity stories that people hear and they’re the most enchanted with because they seem like pure fantasy.

Jack: The beauty of it is that these characters are fictional, but the stories you’re reading are true. We created a fictional campus around the story, but the stories themselves have happened.

READ ALSO: Bella Hadid & Drake were spotted at the same club, so of course they’re dating

On that, I know people always try and guess which characters are which. Which celebrities do people guess the most?

Kevin: It’s all over the place. People who have read it have called us and every single person has been different because people read it reflected in their own celebrity interests. And everyone is certain that they know what’s what and who’s who, and every single person has been wrong. No one has even been vaguely close. And it’s crazy because we didn’t expect it to be such a broad spectrum of guesses.

Jack: And that was our intention when we wrote the book initially. We wanted to make it a little more difficult to guess who these celebrities are. We didn’t wanna hurt anybody’s feelings out there, and we didn’t wanna be malicious to anyone whatsoever. This book is fun, and we wanted people to read it to enjoy themselves, and we wanted celebrities to read it and not feel like they’re being sold out.

Kevin: We didn’t actually sell anybody out. One thing we had in mind with this book is that times are pretty tough right now, and we wanted to give people a book that was like a guilty pleasure. It’s a  really sweet dark love story, and when you’re done, you can call your friends or have them over for some cocktails and just laugh and try and guess and interact and make it more of a social experiment.

Jack: The other thing is, I said this yesterday too, a lot of people assume publicists have these glamorous job of walking their clients down a press line. And this really gives you a glimpse of what a publicist truly does with their client. So from beginning to end, from making someone who is a nobody into a famous starlet or famous actor, it gives you the real deal into what a publicist truly does. It’s an art form.

And obviously dating somebody is a big tool celebrities use to further their careers. Walk us through some of the signs that a celebrity is in a fake relationship.

Jack: So the fake relationship… the signs that I usually see are they break up after three years because most of the contracts are a three year contract deal, and the rumors that circulate about a certain someone being in one of those three year relations, 99% of the time, it is true. There are some cold, cold signs.

Things happen around when something’s about to come out for them, whether it’s a movie, TV show, or CD. It all depends on the career they have. Or a lot of these stars now are these little girls who audition and auditions and don’t get anywhere. So no one has time for them, but they get that big break when their agents call them and tell them, ‘so and so is interested in having a fake relationship, and it will change you life.’ And it does change their life! They become an overnight superstar. You can kind of tell when someone’s career is halted, and they come back booming again [because they started dating somebody new].

Kevin: I would also say that if you’re looking for signs, look for couples who will do every red carpet. And this is usually a private celebrity, so all of a sudden they’re doing interviews together for nighttime tv or the red carpet. They’ll do a couple covers together for strange magazines. And then you won’t see them until there’s another red carpet premiere for the other one. That’s a pretty good sign.

READ ALSO: The Taylor Swift guide to making your rebound relationship believable

Would you ever have any reservations about covering a certain relationship if you knew it was fake?

Kevin: These fake relationships are actually gold because it means you have pretty cooperative couples who will be doing photos. And the art of the tabloids is weave a story around celebrities, so you need something to continue for maybe three months, maybe four months so you can keep checking back on them, because that’s how people relate since they love getting invested in a relationship. So even if it’s fake, it doesn’t really matter in terms of the tabloids because a lot of that is, not fictional, but kind of a fairy tale anyway.

But it’s funny because sometimes a celebrity will try to set up a fake couple without the contract because they realize that it’s good for them and the publicist of the more famous person will always sell them out to the tabloids. And then you’re stuck in a place where you have the photos, but the publicist is like, screw this, I actually wanna tell you the truth. Those truthful moments are more of what ended up in our book rather than tabloid stories.

Can either of you think of any couples that started out as something that was fake but ended up becoming real?

Jack: I don’t think that there has been one. Not one that I’m aware of to be honest with you.

Kevin: I think some people have made an effort to go longer because it’s been a successful business partnership. But when you’re faking something as intimate as love or a relationship, sooner or later someone’s gonna come along, and you’re gonna be thinking that you’d be much better off with who you actually love.

I’ve noticed that whenever a celebrity couple breaks up, in the press statement, they always mention at the end how they want to remain friends. Is that so they don’t alienate anybody who stans for their relationship?

Jack: That’s about the fact that the tabloids will scrutinize and turn it around to make things seem like it was an ugly breakup. That’s just to shut them down right away. But it never works out because the tabloids flip it and say what they wanna say.

Kevin: And also, from the tabloid’s standpoint, when someone breaks up, you get that e-mail that says they hope to continue to be friends, we request your privacy during these difficult times, and it’s exactly the same as getting an automated office reply from someone’s e-mail. You know it’s not true, and then you gotta start sourcing the people around them to find out what’s actually true and how much they actually hate each other.

READ ALSO: These celebs get way more likes on Instagram when they’re with their baes

The last thing I wanna talk about is how compared to the socialite scene of the 2000s, celebrities are boring these days. No one goes out, and everyone watches what they say. I was wondering why you guys think celebrity culture has shifted so much.

Jack: So here’s the thing. Back in the day, celebrities were celebrities because of the mystery that they had. They were more reserved and we didn’t get to see what was behind the facade. The times have changed, and even someone like Beyonce talks about how she had no choice but to get on Instagram and open up about her life because that’s the only way to connect with the fans, which is the only way celebrities are able to sell their music, or whatever else they’re selling.

The socialites nowadays give the public what they really want. The authenticity and the realness of what’s really going on in their lives. A lot of these celebrities are having a hard time with that because they’re not used to it. You look at certain celebrity accounts that have trouble because it’s a bonafide, ageless superstar, but they have only a million or maybe two million followers. But then you go onto this socialite’s Instagram, who’s just a makeup person or model, and they have eight to nine million followers. It speaks to how they relate to their consumer — to the people who are following them. There will be a day where they can wake up and do a picture with no makeup on because they’re being goofy or they’re being silly. They’re letting their followers see the vulnerability of the other side, but the celebrity is NOT.

Even now, I can still think of some celebrities who don’t really use social media, and that’s kind of their whole thing. Do you think we’re moving towards a future where there just won’t be any celebrities who will opt out of this?

Jack: It’s gonna happen because they want work, and if they wanna continue working, they have no choice but to do it. The only celebrity who can get away with that is someone who is one of those comic character celebrities who work on those big franchise movies. They get away with it. But even now, the studios are demanding for them to get on social media, so they have no choice. It’s part of their contract.

Social media is such a big marketing tool for them, because people aren’t watching TV now and they’re skipping through commercials because they have the option. Social media is the only way they can promote the trailer or movie. A lot of agents complain because sometimes somebody will have a million followers and will get access to fifteen movies all because somebody else doesn’t have enough followers or doesn’t bring enough cache to the movie. Times have majorly changed. Even if you look at branding, they are hiring more social media people than they are hiring celebrities because social media girls are more relatable to the consumers who are out there. Celebrities thrive on what you can’t have. But the social media people are basically me, but in a different world.

Definitely, or at least that’s how they’re trying to market themselves.

Jack: Exactly, and some social media people have been called out for being fake or for doing fake stuff. People are not stupid anymore. People smell the fakeness right away. Even when celebrities hire their social media people to post stuff on their behalf, the way they talk or the way they’re writing in the captions, people call them out. People will be like, this is not you posting. This is not how you write.

Which is so crazy, but it makes sense. With social media, you feel like you really know these celebrities because you have access to their world on your personal device 24/7. It makes sense, but it must be really hard to adjust to.

Jack: It’s very hard. Especially for a real actor who has acted for their whole life since they were a child star. All of a sudden to open up this different door and open up your home, it’s freaky for them. It’s not easy. They’re just like, “What do yo want me to do? Why do I need to do this?” Back in the day, no one did that. You protected your client. You would not subject them to go out and do certain things. Nowadays, the world of paparazzi and the world of having to show what you do in your life is crucial.

READ ALSO: Here’s what Google users care most about for each Kardsahian

On a scale of 1-10, how annoyed do you get when celebrities decide to complain about the paparazzi?

Jack: Whenever any of my clients have ever complained, I always say listen, it’s the nature of the business. It’s part of your job. There are certain instances where I completely agree that the paparazzi should leave certain people alone, whether it’s at funerals or if they’re playing with their kids out and about at the park. Kids haven’t done anything to us, they should be private.  But if you’re out and about at a club and you’re going to a restaurant or the supermarket, I’m sorry, you just have to deal with it. That’s part of the job. So you should not be complaining.

Kevin: I have a similar opinion. If someone rented a castle in the middle of nowhere to try and get away for a romantic relationship and someone manages to get a topless photo from a million miles away, that’s horrible. That’s an invasion of privacy, and they’re going through a lot of effort to have their privacy. But those photos don’t usually get run. We would never run them at Life and Style or InTouch as much as those magazines may have done some pretty crappy things to people over the years. There are limits as to what you can use.

Jack: The funny part of it is that the celebrities who are complaining, moaning, and bitching about it, when it dries up and they’re not being followed, they’re complaining and moaning that the paparazzi is not following them anymore.

Of course they are.

Jack: So it’s like Catch-22. When you don’t have it, you want it, but when you have it, you’re also not craving for it.

Kevin: It’s also interesting to be put in that position where you’re working with someone who’s under the microscope for attention, it can suck in a way that that can stop in the blink of an eye. People move on, people forget, and then it’s not pretty to watch someone desperately try to get that attention back because it’s just not possible. You’re just not gonna get it back.

Kind of rando, but I guess if you’re somebody who actually follows sports, you might be into this. Or, you’re simply forgetting that a Kevin Durant lookalike won’t actually have the real Kevin Durant’s money and busy travel schedule.

Another rando, but I guess some girls’ panties drip over Captain America, which is the only noteworthy movie I can attribute to Chris Evans. Unless you’re still crushing on him from Not Another Teen Movie, which is fair because he still looks hot af in that.

4. Chris Pratt

The best thing about Chris Evans isn’t his banging bod and cute personality, it’s the fact that his glow-up into hunk status was fairly recent.. Everybody knows a guy who’s been sexy all his life is probably an asshole, but Chris is a newbie to the being bangable scene!

9 signs you’re in an “almost” relationship and how to GTFO

usher-almost-relationship-couple-galore

The “almost relationship” refers to that point with someone when you’re not sure to tell people if you’re “sorta” dating someone or not. They are not yours, but you find yourself feeling like they are, yet they might not talk to you for a couple of days.

It’s such an emotionally toxic state to be in. Because really you’re not sure it will ever be more, but you don’t want to have the awkward talk about “what you are” in the fear of ruining whatever it is going on.

It’s not necessarily fuckboys, it’s more the inability to properly communicate emotions from both parties.

What I hope to inspire from this article is to share that it’s healthier to be single and not find yourself in this zone, or if you do, to be the first one to communicate about “what we are.” Not sure if you’re in one? Here are some signs.

READ ALSO:People who work in these industries are most likely to cheat with a colleague

1. You put your other plans with friends on hold to see if he wants to hangout with you.

2. You wait for him to drunk call you to come over after he went out with his friends.

3. You get drunk just so you can drunk dial him.

4. You buy outfits to look good for him or you getting all dolled up when he will probably cancel on the plans last minute.

READ ALSO: Here are the top 10 celebs girls want guys to look like

5. You plan any of your time around him, especially when he’s not necessarily doing the same.

6. You calculating the time from the last time you sent him a text and he hasn’t replied. When he does text back, you analyze the fuck out of it.

7. You look at his posts on social media and try to figure out if he’s with other girls. If he is, you get that horrible sinking feeling in your stomach.

8. You post pictures on Instagram and Snapchat and wait for him to see it, for whatever bullshit reassurance.

READ ALSO: Does it mean anything when a guy stays over post hook-up? Sources say no

9. When you’re together and alone, he does intimate things like kiss your forehead that makes it feel more than just a hookup buddy. You continue to look for that intimacy from him but it’s not always there.

The biggest lesson you need to take is that if someone wanted to talk to you, they would. If they wanted to spend the night on a date or alone with you, they would make time.

The hardest part is taking these familiar feelings and building up the courage to have the “what are we” conversion. The end result is only positive for you. Ending something toxic with a person who isn’t right for you will only open your doors to bigger and better things.

You deserve someone who is going to go above and beyond for you and do all of the sweet things you would do for them.

Don’t settle for anything that emotionally makes you anxious. 100% do not follow someone you like on social media – it makes it so much better to not track what they are doing. Focus on yourself, your priorities, and your healthy relationships with friends and family member that matter instead of being in an “almost relationship.”

How I learned being healthy doesn’t have to mean being strict

People put a lot of energy into looking good. Whether your goal is to take flawless Instagram pics or seduce your crush, chances are, you want to reach your full potential. For some girls, this means investing in new makeup or getting a haircut; for me, it meant a completely new body.

Throughout high school, I was that friend who secretly counted her calories, limited her meals, and stayed up at night for hours doing workout routines she found online.

READ ALSO: Body Positivity Might Not Be Helping That Much

I couldn’t care less about if I was healthy or not, I just wanted to look good in jeans. It seemed like everyone around me had a great body with minimal effort, and I wanted to be as beautiful as my friends were.

As a kid, I was picked on for my appearance, and it carried on into high school. I figured since I couldn’t really help my face, I could at least make sure the rest of me looked good. My fifteen-year-old self also associated my beauty with thinness, and I was convinced that being as thin and “in-shape” looking as possible would get me all the positive attention and validation I needed.

I told myself it wasn’t serious and didn’t see it as a problem at all, even though I would rip out all the exercise pages from my mom’s Cosmopolitans and my older cousin’s Seventeen magazines and purposely starve myself all day. I’d decide in the morning which meal I would eat that day, and have yogurt or bananas as replacements for whichever ones I’d skipped.

READ ALSO: These 9 things should be on every healthy broke girl’s grocery list

I signed up for a weight training class at school, and would repeat the day’s exercises once I got home before starting whichever routine or video I’d bookmarked for that week. Exercise became something I dreaded, but I’d force myself to do the absolute most because I was convinced it would give me the body I’d always wanted. I didn’t care about realistic deadlines, nor did I set attainable goals – I wanted to lose ten pounds in a week and a half and have a toned stomach after a month of crunches.

Skipping meals, much to my disappointment, didn’t thin me out. Instead, I felt like everything I ate stuck to me, and my eating habits became increasingly sporadic and unhealthy. I would have lunch with my friends after school, then freak out and eat only apples for the next two days. I began to use workouts as forms of punishment for myself, making them purposely more grueling if I’d eaten a lot that day or hadn’t finished a workout the day before.

My horrible and unbalanced eating habits made me irritable, moody, and so tired that simple 20-minute workouts physically drained me. I forced myself to suffer through it until the middle of my senior year, when my mom got rid of the scale in the house after a meltdown I’d had about not losing any weight.

READ ALSO: Where all your favorite Insta girls get their cute fitness gear

The summer before I went off to college, I barely went out and tried to cover up as much as possible.

I didn’t want anyone to look at my failure of a body, especially since my weight fluctuated so much. Once school began, I had free access to a gym, which I was fearful of stepping foot in. I had mostly given up on my habits, pissed off because the results I saw weren’t the ones I wanted. I resigned myself to a disappointing life of being ugly with low self-esteem until I met my (now super close) friends at school, who watched what they ate but didn’t beat themselves up over eating fries for dinner. They worked out sometimes, but were sometimes too lazy for the gym, and that was okay with them – a concept I found a little impossible to grasp.

I found a gym partner in my new friend and, with her encouragement and help, was able to figure out a much more realistic workout plan that focused more on my health than my appearance.

Did it feel disappointing to go to the gym three times a week and eat salads for lunch every day and not instantly be twenty pounds lighter after a month? Of course, but I felt better than ever and actually had enough energy to power through classes, socializing, and hitting the gym.

Today, I try and work out three times a week, and I don’t follow too strict of a diet. I just try to make sure I’m not putting too much junk in my body. The same body I used to despise, I’ve now grown to love and I feel more sexy and comfortable every day.

The most important thing I’ve learned is that while I might not always look how I want or achieve my “dream body,” as long as I’m healthy and can get everything I need done, I’m still slaying.

8 movies that served major fashion inspo but got awful reviews

$

It’s no secret that critics and film buffs alike tend to disparage movies that are geared toward women.

Why that happens is another topic for another day *cough patriarchy cough*. But some of the most iconic lewks of all time come from the movies we love to watch on a girls’ night in.

These movies are considered bad, but no one could dispute that their aesthetics were A++. They’re so iconic sartorially speaking that it’s no surprise their value went over nerdy reviewers’ heads.

These movies may have bombed, but their destruction was kind of pretty – like a bath bomb. These are the bath bombs of movies.

READ ALSO: Nala Wayans Is redefining Cali babe style

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde

Elle Woods served iconic looks in the first installment of the Legally Blonde series as well as the second. The only difference: critics actually liked the first movie. Like most sequels, this movie lacked critic praise, but fortunately brought fire-emoji worthy outfits.

The first movie’s style was sorority girl chic. The second’s was “Capital Barbie,” as she’s cheekily referred to in the movie. Her most iconic lewk in the movie is her patriotic ensemble that makes Paulette “want a hot dog real bad.”

A Night at The Roxbury

This movie is hilarious and any critic who says otherwise is cray. Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan don’t play the most stylish brothers in the world, but the women who seduce them are consistently wearing hot AF outfits. From dreamy 90’s pool vibes to hot club LBD’s, these girls stole the show. Even the background club-goers are wearing shiny and slinky 90’s dresses you wished you own IRL.

 Jennifer’s Body

Megan Fox is a literal fox in this movie, as always. Her outfits are chic and way too sexual for a high school setting, but it’s a horror movie so reality is allowed to be a tad altered. Reviews were actually pretty mixed on this one. However, if you like sexy late 2000s casual style and watching Megan Fox devour bodies, then you should def watch it.

Practical Magic

Sandra Bullock’s character dresses like a young 90s mom most of the film. Her clothes are a bit boring and lean toward comfort over fashion. However, Nicole Kidman plays the free-spirited sister, who wears mini slip dresses and partakes in the occasional sensual poolside dancing. Her outfits are everything you’d hope a hip young 90s witch would wear. Classic movie, classic fashion. Sorry critics, go home.

Jawbreaker

Accidentally killing your friend and covering it up never looked so chic. These girls most definitely ruled their school due to their heightened sense of fashion and apparent disposable income. Every scene features some killer dress or drool-worthy heels. They are like the original Mean Girls, but with better outfits (and a rap sheet).

Coyote Ugly

The thotty crop tops and skin tight leather pants are fitting for a 2003 or 2017 night out because looking smokin’ hot is timeless. This movie, although lacking in critical acclaim, served outfit goals pretty hard. It is also the reason why so many drunk girls try to climb on bars.

READ ALSO: These fresh graphic tees won’t make you look like a wannabe

Get a Clue

These outfits are so over the top that they are almost bad, but it’s the epitome of our pre-teen Limited Too years. It’s nostalgic and it’s a crucial piece of our fashion history. Honestly, it’s not that great of a movie and the plot is largely unbelievable, but it holds up on a rainy day.

Death Becomes Her

This movie isn’t exactly scary, but it is darkly funny. It’s an interesting horror-comedy hybrid that became iconic because it stars two queens (Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep). And because their characters give serious filthy rich girl fashion vibez. This effortful look is drop-dead magnificent, TBH.

This feminist French film character is a grunge style icon

When you think of France, the word fashion comes to mind, doesn’t it? But you might not think of feminism off the bat.

Well, if you’ve ever seen the 1995 film “Before Sunrise,” a movie where actress Julie Delpy plays a woman named Celine, you might not think that. Celine is French, feminist af, and has a chic grunge style.

France, fashion and feminism all come together in Celine.

READ ALSO: We came up with a genius skinny bitch Piña Colada recipe

She is the onscreen lover of Ethan Hawke’s character Jesse in the film. Their first encounter is on a train in Europe leaving Budapest. Jesse convinces Celine to tag along with him to embark on an all-nighter through Vienna. The two get to know one another through a series of conversations filled with sexual innuendos, fiery debates, and historical tidbits. Even more amusing than their conversations is her feminist approach to just about everything.

Celine, a character who lives in Paris, France, is a very passionate feminist and environmental activist – a powerful muse for women of the time.

Although French feminist fashion existed before Julie Delpy’s character Celine did, she did a great job of capturing it on the big screen. She talks about feminism religiously throughout the film, saying things like, “I have this awful, paranoid thought that feminism was mostly invented by men so they could, like, fool around. You know: ‘Women! Free your mind, free your body, sleep with me!'”

READ ALSO: Do these things instead of “preventative Botox”

Too bad the guys of today haven’t realized that feminism would actually be chill for them and that it’s not about man-hating!

Celine also brings her A-game when it comes to her grunge-inspired style.

Her look was edgy in a way that made her stand out among every other woman on the streets of Vienna. The tank shift dress over a white t-shirt is definitely a style you’ll see today, but in the film Celine is the only one rocking it. Clinging to her dress is her new boo’s plaid shirt – can you say iconique?

If you haven’t seen the movie, add it to your bucket list stat! Here’s a little sneak peak:

Sage mixes all our favorite cult girly movies in her new video

Sage isn’t just any pop singer who wants to wear a sparkly leotard and let her weave blow in the wind whilst dancing in front of a squad of shirtless dancers. Instead, she’s a chameleon, having been an expert in transforming her look with makeup, hair dye and wigs since she was just 10 years old.

In addition to frequently changing her look, Sage has always sort of been a more mature version of herself trapped in a hip AF millennial body. Her songwriting and lyrics have pushed the limits and explored themes that some adults wouldn’t dare trek through — and that can certainly be said of her upcoming release, which includes the acronym “IAFWU” as one of its’ themes….

READ ALSO: Introducing Girl Cult: a festival for dancing and discovery

With an EP slated to be released this fall, Sage is ready to release the first of several singles, “YoPro,” with a pretty elaborate teaser visual to accompany it. An artistic renaissance ingenue of sorts, Sage also writes all of her own lyrics and music — and even styles herself, and conceptualizes all of her own visual content.

So if you are a fangirl of “Mean Girls” and “Scream Queens” with a dash of the 80’s classic “Heathers,” then this video will definitely be your jam. Plus, Sage not only plays herself in the video, but also ALL the other members of the squad…

“I have a love for movies with pastel and vintage aesthetics. I’ve always wanted to do a meaningful, yet modern and pleasing-to-the-eye video, and finally, with the help of my amazing crew, I got a chance to try it!” Sage says.

Don’t expect the story to end here though, as there’s a whole plot line of stylish characters planned for all the songs on the EP apparently… and just as this little tasty tid bit of a teaser directs us to, you can sign up at SageBoatright.com to make sure you’re the first to know when the next character drops so you can steal her lewk.

What inspired you to write “YoPro”/What does “YoPro” mean?
“YoPro” is short for “Young Professional.” I consider myself a hard working young woman who takes her writing and music very seriously! I feel like many young artists get looked down upon because of their age — because people tend to connect age with experience. Because of that, I wanted to give a voice to all the young professional girl bosses out there!

We’ve heard the video involves “joining the squad” — what are the rules for being part of your squad?
My squad rules are: no rules! In the video, my “squad leaders” consists of three personas: blue, pink, and purple. These personalities represent traits I think we all have. At the end of the video, even though each persona is very different, they all come together, showing that we are all equal and ultimately on the same “squad”!

You played all the members of the squad in the video — what was it like to play the different characters?
The squad girls represent traits I think we all have: (pink) jealousy, (blue) shallow, and (purple) acceptance. To play these characters, I tapped into my own personal experience, and went with the flow.

We’ve heard that this teaser is part of a larger video that combines “Scream Queens” with “Mean Girls” with a dash of “Heathers” — what can you tell us about the full video?
As in “Mean Girls,” “Scream Queens,” and “Heathers,” my personas are generalized stereotypes of a clique. I’d say “pink” is a lot like Regina George from “Mean Girls,” Chanel from “Scream Queens”, and main Heather from “Heathers.” She also has her followers — like the “blue” persona, ‘til a “greater good”, “purple”, comes along — bringing everyone together! I can’t wait for everyone to see and enjoy it because this video is something I’m truly proud of.

What can we expect from the other songs on the EP?
My EP is full of many different messages through my songs — All of the songs will have their own meaning. While “YoPro” is definitely going to be the most showcased, the other songs are still unique and awesome in their own ways, and I can’t wait to share it!

Red is about to be the new millennial pink

Millennial pink is still the color ruling everything from fashion to interior design.

But if you go through some of the biggest names on Instagram you’ll see they drop the “subtle” hint that red is the up and coming color. And honestly when you think about it, red is a color that makes sense for everyone. It makes a statement, it catches eyes, it accentuates all skin tones, and it can easily be maneuvered into staple looks because it’s able to go with a wide range of colors and patterns.

11 bizarro hidden celebrity “talents”

selena-bey-looking-galore

Everybody alive on this planet has some tricks up their sleeve that most people don’t know about.

For instance, I can fit my entire first in my mouth, a fact which I used to be very proud of in college when I didn’t embarrass as easily as I do now.

Celebrities are no exceptions. But while lots of them have super average hidden talents, like being able to juggle or cook, some of their talents are truly bizarre. And almost all of them are “talents,” if you know what I mean.

READ ALSO: How to tell if a celebrity relationship is fake

1. Kim Kardashian can smell cavities

Many statements have tumbled out of Kim Kardashian’s perfectly pouted lips over the years, but one of the most ridiculous has been her long-standing claim that she can smell cavities.

She can smell cavities if she’s riding in the car with you. She can smell cavities if you give her a hug. She can even smell cavities if you’re not super close to her.

Basically, she’s the superhero the dental profession never asked for.

In her own words, “sooo weird huh!”

2. Justin Bieber can solve a Rubik’s cube in about the same time it would take you to give up trying

When Justin Bieber was still a baby, one of his favorite promotional moves was to travel around the world showing off how quickly he could solve a Rubik’s cube.

People ooed and they aahed as they screamed in unison, “Justin 4ever!!!!11!”

3. Hedy Lamarr used music to create a communication system that was kinda like wifi

Hedy Lamarr wasn’t just an old Hollywood bombshell, she basically invented wifi and cell phones.

Back during World War II times, Hedy sat down with some rando dude named George and put her thinking cap on. Together they figured out a way to manipulate radio frequencies to create an unbreakable code which enabled classified messages to be impossible for enemies to intercepted.

And then years later when people were figuring out how to make wifi and cell phones work, they used Hedy’s communications system as a baseline for their work.

Pretty boss, right?

4. Pierce Brosnan can eat fire

Generally speaking, women would rather a guy eat her pussy than start sucking down some skin-scorching flames, but for James Bond-era Pierce Brosnan, she’d probably be willing to make an exception.

Think that’s how he got to be so hot, or nah?

5. Jennifer Garner can do hillbilly stuff

We’re not making this up. These are actual words that came out of Jennifer Garner’s actual mouth.

“Besides the saxophone, besides playing spoons, besides clogging,” Jennifer told Allure, “my cup runneth over with hidden talent. Anything hillbilly, I can do.”

This seems like a James Corden bit waiting to happen. Somebody call that cheese ball up.

6. Selena Gomez can do spitting tricks with chewing gum

Long before Selena Gomez had her revival, TV hosts used to hand her unwrapped sticks of gum and give her a look the said, “start masticating now, girl.”

Much like her ex-boyfriend, baby Selena was expected to perform the same party trick over and over again in order to get good promo. And while Justin had his Rubik’s cube, Selena had gum.

She’d chew it up, spit it into the air, and then catch it in her mouth. Sometimes she’d even do it more than once, just so whoever was filming her had a chance to zoom in on the action.

The things we make our baby pop stars do for attention.

8. Margot Robbie can drink really fast

As if secretly getting married to a boyfriend most people didn’t even know she had wasn’t a hidden talent of its own, Margot Robbie can also drink really fast. Or at lest she can drink water really fast.

“I can drink a whole lot of water very quickly,” Margot told Allure, before adding, “but that’s not really helpful.”

With all respect to Margot, I have to disagree. Think of how much better your hangovers would be if you had the ability to pound water as fast as Margot Robbie can. You’d be cured before you knew it! Or think of all the needless calories your brain wouldn’t convince you to eat because it was so dehydrated you got tricked into thinking you were hungry.

Hydration: it’s more important than you think.

9. Kendall Jenner knows “all the words” to “every rap song”

In April of 2016, Virgil Abloh sent Kendall a note which read, “KENDALL, LISTEN TO MORE RAP MUSIC. THANKS, VIRGIL.”

Apparently she took that command to heart because in March of 2017, in a voice dripping with the absence of enthusiasm she told Estée Lauder, “I know every rap song. All the words.”

Again, somebody get James Cordon on the phone. And while you’re at it, put me in touch with a producer. I should really be getting a finder’s fee for this.

10. Beyoncé is a Connect 4 beast

These days Beyoncé has an entire army of supporters who will look you in the eye and tell you without a hint of irony in their voice, that Beyoncé is a goddess incarnate, but back in 2008, she was generally just thought of as a talented human.

And after one very eventful night in Europe, Kanye West decided to tell the world that one of her many talents was winning Connect 4.

In his now-deleted blog, Kanye wrote:

“When I was in Europe I would play this game for hours and hours… it helped me zone out. Everybody would get envolved… Derrick Dudley (Common’s manager) and Consequence were the best other than me… I beat Lexi… Don C beat Jay… Tony Williams beat Common… but every now and then people would speak of this legendary connect 4 champion……….. BEYONCÉ!!! I had 2 play her!…

So last night at Jay’s new 40/40 club in Las Vegas (which is sidebar, crazy big w/ 24krt gold flooring, Black Jack tables, $500 slot machines, the biggest projection screen in the universe and the best turkey burgers I’ve ever had in my life) she beat me 9 times in a row! We asked guys the top reasons why they ghost girls

$

j-lo-phone-ghost-galore

I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I am convinced that I’m cursed with guys.

I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t send that chain message seven years ago or someone put a voodoo curse on me, but I’ve had horrible luck. Guys always stop talking to me right after I tell my best friends, and sometimes even my mom. Like great, now they all know you’re a piece of shit, so I can’t sleep with you ever again or I’ll be that girl.

The hardest part of being ghosted is that you just want to know why. Am I doing something wrong? Am I  coming on too strong? I just want to know.

I turned to the fuckboys I knew to see what are some of the reasons that they ghost girls. Maybe it’ll help you figure out why that last douchebag suddenly stopped hitting you up – but it honestly shouldn’t matter you’re going to cut him out either way and not change yourself to please a dude – right?

READ ALSO: People who work in these industries are most likely to cheat with a colleague

1. Because he lives for the ‘gram

“Ghosting seems to be a more common issue in today’s age, and that’s because casual sex is now seemingly more common, which to me has everything to do with being 21+,” said one dude. “The idea of getting drunk, doing drugs, staying out late and finding a new girl to please is what we’re told by society (Instagram) as a major goal of our roaring 20s. Science has been dominating this century as our younger generations age, which in time will only prove our inability to establish consistency with excuses such as ‘procreation is biology, monogamy isn’t.'”

True, but the whole “oh, humans weren’t made for monogamy” is a fuckboy line. Also does this dude think he’s the Plato of fuckboys or something? Chill.

2. Because you’re not on the same page

“A girl may think you’re into her more than you are. You just wanted casual and potentially repeatable sex.”

Happens both ways!

3. Because we all have different standards drunk

“You were drunk when you both met, and she looked much better then.”

This is a two way street buddy, you know how many times I’ve made out with a four and thought they were a 12 because I was drunk?

4. Because playing hard to get works!

“She requires too much work (i.e. constant entertaining via text/calls, asks to hang out every night). Some guys like a girl who’s aggressive, but the majority of us like the chase. Don’t give it up until the after party…”

Okay, it’s true that guys like a girl who plays hard to get, but a guy who’s not a piece of shit will def not judge you for fucking on the first date either. F this dude.

5. Because he somehow thinks real life is also Instagram?

“Instalove — the idea that you can get better than what you have access to. The wandering eye a.k.a the explore page.”

Okay, so date guys who only get one like on their Insta photos. They probably don’t know how to get to the explore page.

6. Because he hasn’t learned how to spot Facetune usage

“Her socials were hella misleading.”

We all have that one Tinder pic that is a better version of ourselves, it’s only human. This is bullshit.

7. Because he’s hung up on someone else

“Realistically, he just likes another girl more, whether it be an ex or another bae he’s been talking to for a little bit.”

This tends to be the top reason for being ghosted.

The number one thing to take away from this all is it really isn’t you, it’s men and the current dating culture. Looking at the reasons why – it’s based off of their own selfish reasons – and you’ve probably done the same things when ghosting a guy.

Turns out emo Warped Tour style hasn’t really changed since 2006

If you remember way back to 2001, the annual Vans Warped Tour was the place where Blink 182 met the girl of their dreams in their song, “The Rock Show.”

And, like many things that were cool in 2001, the Vans Warped Tour is still alive and well today.

While this year’s line-up was largely metal bands, a change from the early 2000s when the tour boasted acts like Katy Perry, Gym Class Heroes, and a plethora of punk-pop bands that were slightly more radio-friendly than Attila, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t rappers (like Sammy Adams) or OG emo faves (like Hawthorne Heights) playing sets.

Another thing that hasn’t changed? Warped Tour fashion – or, lack thereof.

You will never see a media outlet writing a shopping guide for Warped Tour. This is partially because Warped Tour just doesn’t have the mass appeal that Coachella does (and probably never will again), but also because I can guarantee you that nobody who goes to Warped Tour shops solely for the one-day concert, and they definitely don’t go to Warped with their main goal to take a good Insta pic and get drunk.

In fact, I saw hardly anyone drinking at Warped Tour at all, and many of the people I spoke to about their style had to check their phones to get their Instagram username for me when I requested it. So many people I know have their Instagram handle embroidered on their jean jackets and embedded in their brain, the fact that these people couldn’t even recite theirs off the top of their head was fascinating to me.

Unlike other music festivals, Warped is one that has consistently stayed about the music, and the outfits have stayed pretty consistent as well.

Being a summer tour, the good ol’ crop top and shorts combo is always a classic, with some girls opting for bikini tops or even regular old bras (yes, the type with underwire, not kidding). I saw less of those bras this year, likely thanks to the plethora of bra tops sold at fast fashion stores these days compared to in 2009, but the majority of people definitely looked like they didn’t give a fuck. Just throw on a band tee, some jean shorts, Vans, and you’re good to go!

Though options were limited, we scoured Warped Tour’s stop in Camden, New Jersey all day to find some style stars that added an extra kick to their Warped Tour ‘fit. Check them out!

@cancerous_trans_lord

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

The hair styles. I used to have long hair, I recently cut it to have a mohawk.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

That’s hard because it’s different for everybody. My opinion is I don’t care as long as you’re a good person.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

Either a Pierce The Veil shirt, some wristbands, or some anime stuff.

3.

@elainaunger

A beach towel.

4.

@angela.clar.k

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

The hair is my favorite.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

Emo can be a style or a type of music that you listen to and there’s a lot of stigma that they cut themselves or want to kill themselves and I don’t think that’s fair.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

A pair of circle glasses.

5.

@hannuhandersun

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

Hayley Williams’ style.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

As a joke I would call anyone here “emo,” but there’s punk rock, emo-metal, goth…I would say emo is so different. Black clothing is definitely emo.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

A Green Day Revolution Radio sweatshirt.

6.

@thearianaeve

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

Creepers.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

Anything that lets you be creative and colorful.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

I work there – I’m a regional manager – so probably jeans or shorts.

7.

@paper_sound

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

The hair was always really cool.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

It’s hard to say because everyone’s definition is different. I see it comes from emotional distress. It’s a group of people going through the same thing.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

Last year I bought a Motionless in White shirt.

8.

@knightglassworks

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

The Black Parade.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

It’s so vague. It’s pop-punk, it’s post-hardcore, it’s not just one genre – it’s the attitude behind it.

What’s the last thing you bought at Hot Topic?

I don’t remember… I almost bought a Pokémon dress.

9.

@threatlevelmidday

What’s your favorite emo style moment from the 2000s?

Chokers, they’re my favorite.

How do you define “emo” in your own words?

Anything that makes you want to cry and feel something.

Berets for badasses who dgaf about French girl style

The classic beret is a timeless accessory that has made its way back on our accessories radar and Glazed NYC is killing it with their beret line.

Shelby Macklin and Banna Gebremichael started Glazed in 2015 and have been slaying the beret game ever since. Theses two baddies have found a way to turn their love for 60s fashion and turn it into a stunning collection of berets made with updated fabrics.

With zebra print, red and pink vinyl, and their classic black genuine or faux leather, Glazed berets will turn heads and spice up any outfit with a vintage touch.

I had the pleasure of sitting down to talk with Banna and Shelby about their beret line and what inspired it.

Read Also: 8 movies that served major fashion inspo but got awful reviews

What was the inspiration behind creating your beret line?

Shelby: The 60’s era was our main source of inspiration for this collection, we wanted the berets to be simple yet fun statement pieces that are easy to wear and most importantly, functional. They also aren’t for everyone and that’s what we love the most about them.

How did you guys meet and come up with the idea for your line? How did you guys meet Emilina the model?

Banna: Shelby and I met in college about six years ago and have been best friends ever since! Glazed NYC came to fruition one night in our old apartment during the 2014 polar vortex. We just wanted to look cute and warm, not have to choose one or the other.

Our goal is to provide functional accessories that not only bridge the gap between function and glamour, but also pay homage to the heroines who came before us. Heroines who have pushed societal boundaries and continue to promote the idea of living your truest self.

In addition to accessories, Glazed NYC is a platform for women to connect and share their work via our interview series: GGOTW, Glazed Girl of the Week. Emilina is one of our GGOTW who we connected with on Instagram and it was just pure love off the bat. She’s a sweetie and hella glazed, we are always so pumped to work with her!

You guys’ aesthetic is very specific and well planned, how long did it take to perfect it?

Shelby: We’ve always been glammy, but researching and focusing on specific eras and muses such as the 60-90s, Vintage Versace, Queen Naomi Campbell and Lil’ Kim allowed us to convey a clear and consistent aesthetic. We also banned the word “SHOP” from our IG, we treat it like a mood board and plan three posts at a time.

Can you give any advice to our readers on how to be their own boss? And what obstacles have you had to overcome to get to where you are now?

Banna: I’m a Virgo so I get really critical of myself, which is honestly my biggest obstacle. I truly believe that we can be our own worst enemy. We tend to forget how in control of our lives we really are, you know?

My advice for how to be your own boss is to believe in yourself before you expect anyone else to believe in you. Lead by example and, even if you’re not 100% sure, just get out of your comfort zone and you may discover parts of yourself you never knew. Baby steps, babies. It’s all a work in progress.

Shelby: My advice for being your own boss is complete confidence in yourself and self discipline. I’ve definitely been my own worst enemy as well, in terms of self doubt and not believing in myself, but I realized I can’t expect anyone to believe in me or my vision if I don’t full heartedly believe it myself.

I also think it’s important to practice patience, stay positive, do your best and always focus on quality. Banna and I say all the time that there’s nothing better than getting positive customer reviews on our products. For people to actually reach out and tell us how much they love their accessories is major reassurance that all of our hard work is paying off, it’s the best feeling.

What to ask for during a facial, based on your skin’s needs

As a modern woman, there are few words as glorious to hear as, “let’s get a facial.”

Everybody loves facials, but let’s be real, once you get to the spa, you don’t really know wtf to ask for.

Sure you could ask to get a run down of all the options, but more often than not you’d probably just mumble out something like, “uhhh, I just want my skin to glow.”

And just like you can’t use any old face wash and expect your skin to look perfect, you can’t settle for just any facial and expect magic results.

So we asked Eve Salon master facialist & raw foodist Eileen Bisheoff what you should be asking for, based on your skin’s needs.

READ ALSO: I tried 4 Victoria’s Secret diets and I still don’t look like an angel

All type of skins should be correctly exfoliated to remove dead skin cells at least once a week especially for oily skin. Moisturizer to balance skin. Face must be washed morning and night. No sleeping with makeup.

Dry skin: use a serum before a moisturizer to penetrate the skin faster and deeper to get the perfect amount of hydration.

Large pores: use acid such as IS Clinical to prevent clogged pores and shrink pores. This acid also purifies the skin.

Anti-aging: use serums with peptides it stimulates collagen production before moisturizer, also good for the eye and neck area. Use good anti-aging masks because they will rejuvenate the skin and brighten it.

Hyper-pigmentation: it’s very important to use SPF all the time, especially during the majority of the day and use serums containing acids.
