Bebe Huxley’s new music video questions your ideas of sexuality

$

0

Los Angeles based, electro-pop artist, Bebe Huxley, is dropping music videos that encourage us to question what we have been told is “correct” by society again and again.

Her last videos for her songs “Scorpio,” and “Venom,” are intense and artful pieces that challenge society’s views of gender and sexuality. In her newest video for the song, “Elaine,” off her 2017 EP Scorpio, Bebe switches it up and delivers us what seems to be the answer to her previous thought-provoking material.

Reminiscent of Grimes‘ last stunt with Art Angels, and even a bit like old Gaga, the video is bright, colorful, and lighthearted – one might even call it outdoorsy?

Bebe and her queer fam party, dance, and laugh on a ranch in celebration of being themselves and apart of a wonderful community.  “Elaine” is def an uplifting bop to pregame to with your crew – check it out below.

Here’s why female tech leaders gained so many followers overnight

Overnight recognition is something we all think and dream about. All it takes is one person to acknowledge someone else’s hard work for things to really start taking off, as we’ve seen time and time again.

Though it’s more of a wish than reality for most, such was the case for hundreds of women in tech this month – and it all began with a female tech entrepreneur named Tracy Lee. Lee is the founder of This Dot Labs, a company providing teams everywhere with adept technical leaders to help businesses succeed.

Lee uses platforms like her Instagram and Twitter pages to promote tech projects and conferences that she attends. Over the course of the past few months, Lee has met many other inspiring women in tech at these events as well as online. This past Saturday, Lee took to Twitter to release a list she’s compiled over the past few months of awesome women to follow in the tech industry:

Soon afterwards, the tweet took off as people of the Twittersphere passed Lee’s list along, adding their own suggestions of women to follow. The result was a snowball effect of women in the tech industry supporting each other, discovering one another and being seen for their contribution to the tech world.

Lee’s ‘fempire’ names approximately 300 women, including @codingCommander, who creates free programming tutorials:

The list also features @wisecobbler, editor of a Newsletter that familiarizes people with programs like GraphQL, React, and Flux:

Lee’s list contains people from students to teachers to moms to bloggers to CEOs. It is entirely inclusive and is not based on follower count or sphere of influence. She mentions that she formed the list over the course of a few months and did not discriminate based on pre-existing internet clout: “I started following all women I see in tech as a simple way of supporting them,” she tells Refinery29.

Damn, gotta love it.

The tech industry is one that is increasingly relevant with each passing day. We often affiliate people like Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg with these industries, despite the fact that, like with every industry, women are an integral part of its success.

Sometimes, though, women’s voices are obscured due to a  lack of representation. This is why what Lee’s doing is so crucial – using her own platform to shed light on other female tech leaders is something that’s already had an impact on women in the tech community. And that’s exactly what Lee, and so many others, have demonstrated.

To see Lee’s full list of women to follow in tech, click here.

Prepare to be inspired, and get to following (aka supporting) these fantastic women.

Drag Diaries: Vanilla Tight Ass is Florida’s Sweetheart

Vanilla Tight Ass, a.k.a. Michael O’Hara, is a gender-fluid drag queen based in Sarasota, Florida.

Galore sat down with Vanilla to ask him to reveal what it’s like living as gender-fluid, Vanilla’s fantasy, and how drag has become a form of therapy for O’Hara.

Check out the video and interview below!

A post shared by Michael O’Hara (@boy_michi) on

When/how did you get into drag?

I started doing drag about a little over a year ago when I found out my Nana was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer – drag was something I always saw myself getting into but I recall truly embracing the moment when I was in such a sad state of mind. Drag shook me of my sadness.

How has drag helped you be better to yourself?

Drag has helped me better myself because it has brought to life the woman living inside of me. Being gender-fluid, I am able to live out my masculine moments as myself. Vanilla helps me embrace my female side and it’s incredibly refreshing.

What is the most important thing about drag that you would want people that know nothing about it to know?

I would want people to understand that drag is a form of therapy. I truly believe men and women should all try drag. The whole process of drag is to bring out an alter-ego living inside of yourself. It’s so much fun and it should never be too serious.

What is your favorite thing about your local drag community?

The best thing about my local drag community is that we’re small. Being so small – it’s easy to get to know the other queens and learn from them and become inspired.

Tell us a little bit about Vanilla.

Vanilla is the most popular girl at Malibu High School. She’s the bleacher make-out queen with all the football players, she’s the president of the yearbook committee, her father is a successful lawyer and her mother is vodka-induced maven that gives Vanilla the fabulous credit-line.

Vanilla has everything she wants, gets everything she wants, but is also very kind and sweet. She attends her local synagogue every Sunday and she has a 4.0 GPA. Vanilla is the real deal.

Where do you see Vanilla going in 6 months?

New York City and beyond!

A post shared by Michael O’Hara (@boy_michi) on

What is Vanillas dream outfit?

Anything pink! Vanilla loves pink shades and white and cream tones! Vanilla also loves to show skin – ands lots of it!

What’s the weirdest thing you do to get ready before a show?

The weirdest thing I do to get ready for a show is eat. I will literally chow down right before I put on my lips. Vanilla loves, like, garbage food, too – pizza, cheetos, and taquitos. Vanilla will inhale an entire pizza and then put on a corset. She’s very talented, to say the least.

BIA wants her music to empower you to dump your bummy boyfriend

Rapper, singer, songwriter, and newest Galore cover girl, BIA, was discovered via YouTube and immediately signed to Pharrell William’s i Am Other music label. BIA has toured with powerhouse pop star Ariana Grande, and one of her mentors is Pharrell himself (casual).

She got her nickname of BIA on accident, and she swears her tour rider is messed up. Check out the interview with her below to get to know this artist a little better.

How did you figure out your stage name, BIA?

My name is Bianca, and the first three letters of Bianca are B, I, and A. When I was around 12, all my friends used to call me BIA. This is before BIA was ever a thing.

You know those name plate belts? They were like, $25 a letter. This is back when we were young and didn’t have money to buy $100 belts. But, all my friends pitched in and bought me a belt that said Bia. From then on, I wore the belt, and that’s how it came about.

How do your Latina roots influence your music?

I think culture lives in us. I’m half Puerto-Rican, so it’s my culture and part of who I am. It comes into my music without me even know, because it’s who I am.

You’ve said that sometimes it feels like you’re not Latina enough – do you feel a pushback from the community because you’re mixed-race? How do you think you’re paving the way for other mixed-race artists on the come-up?

No, I feel like I get the opposite. At the beginning I was nervous because I felt I wasn’t Latin enough. I don’t fit into the cookie cutter Reggaetonero style, so I always felt like I wasn’t going to be enough. But, I found that by being true to myself and doing the things I do know, people were into it.

What was it like getting into the music scene in Boston? Was there a point in your career when you realized you maybe needed to head out to LA?

That’s so funny, because they say if you can make it at home then you can make it anywhere! For me, making it at home was extremely difficult, because no one knew me as an artist. I was just a regular person. Once you break that threshold of being a regular person to following your dreams, people are envious of that.

I experienced a lot of doubt in myself from family and friends, and I felt like I didn’t have the resources in Boston. At the time, there were only two studios in Boston for me to record and it was expensive. I felt like I had to move so that I could learn and record more.

What helps you get in the zone for writing?

Can I say weed? (laughs) I need to be in my own zone. When you’re smoking a joint and you’re by yourself, you get in that meditation mode. That’s it. It’s on a higher frequency.

What was your favorite stop on the tour with Ariana Grande and why?

I would have to say Amsterdam. It was the most fun for us as far as tourism. There was good food and some really cool sides. We had a lot of fun.

Overalls, Beret: Hardware LDN, Shoes: Bia’s own, Jewelry: Vidakush, Bra Top: House of CB

What was something that you learned while on tour with Ariana that you didn’t know about the industry or yourself before?

I learned a lot about Ariana’s work ethic. It motivated me to see how hard she works. It fueled me! I saw that she’s not just this great because she’s this great, she’s this great because she puts in a shit ton of work. It made me ask myself, “How badly do you want it?” If you want it, you really gotta work for it.

Pharrell has described you as “unfiltered, unapologetic, and unconventional.” What are three words that you would use to describe your style of music?

Unfiltered, unapologetic, and powerful. Powerful first, though. I want to inspire women to say, “Man, fuck that boyfriend. Fuck that job.”

You love repping some really unique designers – who is your favorite to wear right now?

I can’t pick just one. I love Off White and I love Y Project.

If you were to perform on MTV’s “Unplugged,” what cover would you do?

I would do a Lauryn Hill cover, not sure what song, though.

Who would you die to go on tour with?

Rih!!! All day. That would be such a badass tour.

What’s on your tour rider?

Oh my god, my tour rider’s so filthy. You won’t know who’s back there. I’ll have a steamer, tea, throat coat, honey, and a fruit plate. And then the other side of it will be like indica, lighters, and Hennessey.

What’s your must have beauty item right now?

Giorgio Armani makes this foundation that’s got like glitter in it. It’s super illuminated. That shit makes it look like you dunked your head in wet gold.

Highlighter or contour?

Ugh. Well yeah, I’d have to choose contour.

Fenty Beauty or Tarte?

Fenty Beauty, of course! Their primer is so good. It feels like a moisturizer.

What’s next for BIA?

Creating my own lane and checking things off of my bucket list. Billboard, headling my own tour. Things like that.

Spring is officially here, but in many places the weather is still dry as hell and not so sunny. Spring can be especially dry, and so it’s important to keep your skin extra hydrated.

We’ve compiled a list of some products that will be sure to hydrate your skin and keep it looking fire all spring (and summer).

Join Galore Beauty for exclusive convos, content and more.

1. Avya Skincare

Avaya Skincare is a luxury beauty line that focuses on melanin. Yeah, you read that right! Melanin is something everyone has, but based on your genetics and heritage, you will have different levels and amounts. This means that every person has specific skincare needs.

This line contains creams, serums, moisturizers, sunscreen, and more. The brand wants to target your melanin and help with uneven skin tones and wrinkles. Their prices start at $45 and they also have bundle options available.

2. Amala Beauty

Amala is dope because they use 100% natural plant ingredients, including certified organic cocoa bean. Cocoa beans stimulate your skin cells, promote microcirculation, and help to repair your skins’ moisture barrier.

Based on your skin care needs, you can choose from their Rejuvenate, Hydrate, Purify, Brightening, or Soothe collection. Their products start at $25 and you get free shipping, which makes most of us feel better about buying something online.

3. Alya Skin

Millennial pink is a staple color, especially when it’s in the form of a beauty product. If you’re obsessed with all things skincare, you gotta check this mask out. Alya Skin is Australian based, but they have a huge following in America.

The line has major benefits for your skin. On top of this brand being vegan and cruelty free, the mask also contains kaolin clay, aloe, cult fave witch hazel, and pomegranate. You can cop the mask for $40 – but, they usually have sales every now and then and a twin pack deal available, as well.

4. Harper + Ari

Spring means showing more skin so you gotta make sure your skin all over is flourishing. If you’re a bit impatient when it comes to a full skincare routine, try out these exfoliating sugar cubes by Harper + Ari.

They come in hella flavors like Rose’, Coffee, Blue Raspberry and more. You should exfoliate your skin weekly at minimum, and you only need 1-2 cubes for your entire body. Each set of cubes will cost you $24.

5. The Body Shop HEMP

The Body Shop is a household name but are you hip to their iconic hemp line? Hemp has become super popular over the past few years for their sheet masks, but when they first launched this line back in 1998, their factory was actually raided by police. Hemp can be beneficial in many ways, but did you know it’s good for your skin?

Hemp contains omega 3, 6, and 9, which are known for helping with dry skin. Hemp acts like an armor that seals in moisture and defends skin against the elements.

There are over 5 products to choose from within this line, including their hand, feet, and face protectors, chapstick, and overall body moisturizer. The pricing of this line starts at $6.

This Bumble study contradicts hookup culture

$

Is hookup culture officially over?

Maybe not officially (because some of us still just want some quick d), but a recent study conducted by Bumble definitely contradicts our conceptions about online/app dating.

Bumble originally set out to be a safe place for women to create meaningful and empowering connections, through Bumble, Bumble BFF, and Bumble Bizz.

A post shared by Bumble (@bumble) on

Since they launched in 2014, the app certainly has had no problem encouraging women using the app to 1. make the first move (aka the basis of the app) and 2. be self-confident in the scary world of online dating.

READ ALSO: You’re going to want to RSVP to this H2O+ Beauty event at Stagecoach

In recent studies conducted by Bumble’s in-house sociologist Dr. Jess Carbino, it was revealed that 85% of Bumble’s users are in search of a long-lasting and meaningful relationship – not just a hookup.

“It turns out that both younger and older women prefer making the first move and that it had a strong impact on their decision to use Bumble,” Dr. Carbino says.

“For younger women, this is more likely to be their first foray into online dating, so being empowered to make the first move and the higher degree of control that comes with that may be influential in their decision to use Bumble,” she adds.

The survey was administered via the Bumble app to 5,367 users in March 2018, meaning it’s pretty recent and reflective of the current climate.

A post shared by Bumble (@bumble) on

Dr. Carbino’s study also had some other awesome takeaways. Below are some of our favorites.

1.

85% of Bumble users are looking for marriage or a boyfriend/girlfriend.

2.

63% of men said that “women making the first move” was influential in making them want to use Bumble.

3.

Bumble users are looking for commitment – 85% of Bumble users are looking for marriage or a boyfriend/girlfriend.

4.

Bumble is not known as a marketplace for hookups – less than 4% of men and less than 1% of women on Bumble are looking for a hookup.

5.

Women on Bumble are confident first movers – 97% have messaged their matches in.

Olivia Culpo is the face of TIMEX’s brand new 2018 women’s collection

On Tuesday night, Galore was invited to celebrate the release of TIMEX’s new 2018 Women’s Collection.

The event was hosted by model, actress, influencer, and former Galore covergirl, Olivia Culpo, at The NoMad Hotel Rooftop in NYC – aka one of the best views in the city.

As the new face of the brand, Olivia took center stage to speak about her involvement with the collection, while a four-course meal was served to an array on influential guests. Afterwards, we sat down with the beauty queen herself to discuss her take on the new collection, spring trends, and what she’ll be wearing this season.

READ ALSO: Cardi B wore a complete Marc Jacobs makeup look on SNL

What drew you into working with TIMEX on this collection?

Well, I love fashion, obviously that’s very important to me! TIMEX is the most iconic watch brand that’s out there and the Crystal Bloom collection is really special because it’s a collection specifically geared towards the spring.

Also, I am totally a girly girl and the collection itself definitely represents girly girl vibes! Everything is pastels or white, which is also my favorite color, and it’s the perfect accessory to dress up any spring look. So it was a very organic partnership.

Awesome! So like you said, the collection is very springy, what type of things are you pairing the collection with this season?

Well, I personally have been wearing white a lot, because I just I love white, so I’ll wear this watch with a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a pair of pumps. Just keeping it really casual, because I feel like the watch itself is pretty dressy and can dress anything up.

If you’re just even like going out for the day then you’re going to a more special occasion, it can also be the perfect pairing for an evening dress. I also feel like it’s a great gift and the price point is so affordable.

READ ALSO: BIA wants her music to empower you to dump your bummy boyfriend

What are some of your favorite spring accessories in general?

I feel like it’s similar to the Crystal Bloom collection. During spring, you see a lot of pastels and you see a lot of florals, and the dial on this with the Swarovski crystals is actually floral pattern. So, I feel like you’re going to see a lot of florals, a lot of pastels, a lot of white, a lot of bright colors.

I’m always a fan of white all year round, but I feel like spring is a great time to whip out your white accessories and white shoes and sundresses! There’s just something so ethereal and free about it, which is reminiscent of the springtime because everything’s blooming and it’s the most beautiful time of year in my opinion.

Your Coachella look was super cute and a bit different then some of the other things I’ve seen. Are there any unconventional trends you’ve had your eye on for the upcoming season?

That’s such a good question. For Coachella, and festival season in general, there really are no rules. I feel like the craziest trend that I explored during Coachella was that I was wearing a newspaper boy cap, but it actually had a veil over it. You couldn’t really tell in the pictures, but there was the a veil over it.

I feel like, especially with Coachella, it’s just the time to have fun. There’s really no rules, there’s no yes and there’s no no. Something else I saw a lot during Coachella was fishnets under jeans, which I feel like we saw a lot of that last year but people are bringing that back. A lot of neon hair, a lot of hair glitter! Body glitter, too, I saw a lot of that. A lot of hardware in the hair, like they looked like little rings or something like that in the hair, so that’s also really fun.

Beyonce’s MUA spills on how to recreate her stunning Coachella look

Bey was flawless af during Coachella (both weekends), because, of course.

Not only were her outfits on point, her makeup didn’t miss a beat either. With almost two hour long sets both weekends, and no transferring or melting in sight, we just had to know – how tf did Bey’s MUA do it?

We sat down with Sir John, Bey’s trusted MUA, to give us step by step details on how to slay like Bey – including full details on the products he used.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

Join Galore Beauty for exclusive convos, content and more.

Sir John starts off the look by focusing on her eyes first. For Beyoncé’s shadow, he uses a warm, matte terracotta shadow as the base shade. He then mixes two loose glitters together; one in a copper color and the other in an iridescent purple. He places the mixture on the ball of her eyes.

Next, he lines Bey’s eyes with a black liner on top and a MAC coffee-colored liner on the bottom. He prefers to do this black/brown liner combo because the coffee brown helps to bring in some softness to the eye, whereas black liner on the bottom sometimes weighs the eye down.

For lashes, Sir John grabs a Too Faced Better than Sex dupe, Lash Paradise Washable Mascara by L’Oreal, after he curls her natural lashes.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

For her skin, Sir John applies foundation and concealer and then creates a structural look by contouring her cheeks, eye sockets, and jaw line with a Tom Ford Bronzer.

He then applies highlighter to the sides of Beyoncé’s cheeks (but not the front), bridge of her nose (but not the tip), and her cupid’s bow. For the highlight textures, he uses a cream highlight, followed by L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Shimmerista Powder in Sunlight on top.

READ ALSO: Beyonce’s MUA says we’ve been applying foundation wrong

For lips, Sir John optes for a pinkish-brown lip color that he knew would last throughout her performance. He chose L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Les Chocolat Liquid Lipstick in Dose of Cocoa; first lines the lip and then applies the lip color directly from the tube.

To finish off the look, Sir John applies AllEven Spray Body Makeup all over Beyoncé’s body. The long-lasting formula lasted throughout her multiple wardrobe changes.

Do you think you can recreate this beat?

Wigs are fun as hell, and they are empowering all kinds of women

$

0

Humor me with a quick round of word association.

Let’s start with this word: wig.

Some of you may be envisioning a parliament meeting in 1795 feat. a bunch of old white dudes in white tights (and corresponding white wigs).

For others, the mention of wigs may bring the acclaimed Ru Paul’s drag race to mind. For someone else, a wig may be an extremely sentimental symbol of health, or of hope. Or, to you, the terms ‘wig’ and ‘hair’ may as well be mutually exclusive.

There’s something to be said for the unique way a wig can empower a woman. It’s almost ironic how covering one’s hair can actually be one of the most freeing things.

Women deal with endless projection from the outside world with regard to our hair, what it means, and how we should present it.

READ ALSO: The truth about where hair extensions come from and if you’re getting your money’s worth

The social discourse surrounding hair is an extremely intriguing one. To many women, hair is something that is deeply personal. In some cultures, women choose or are encouraged to cover their hair in public, as it is considered an intimate part of one’s body.

At the very least, it’s a testament to the significance we place on hair as a whole in society. Though some may take issue with this view and may conflate it with the way women’s hair is sometimes sexualized, this act can be extremely empowering and allows women to take agency over their own bodies.

This boss influencer worked with Swarovski to create her own luxury hijab line, for example:

But hair is also something that has been used to ostracize people. People of color (namely black women) have been made to feel ugly and inadequate because of their inability to adhere to the Eurocentric beauty standard (I wrote a little more about this here). Gabby Douglas had to deal with backlash about her hair despite winning a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 2012.

The list goes on.

Although women are made to feel different because of our hair, it is also something we’ve embraced and used as a tool of showcasing what makes us unique.

Enter wigs into the conversation. Wigs are special in their transformative nature; they possess the ability ‘turn’ you into whoever you want to be, while simultaneously making you feel more like yourself. They’re the ultimate vehicle of self-expression that anyone can get behind.

As I mentioned before, hair has always been somewhat of a sore spot for me, and oddly enough, experimenting with wigs was a huge part of what helped me embrace my natural hair:

chopped my hair off and i am glad

A post shared by Sarah Torkornoo (@sarahfromnewyork) on

This wig almost allowed me to act as myself, but with training wheels. It’s so ironic that I felt more comfortable with literal Sia hair than I did with my own, but such was the case regardless. But once I became comfortable with myself in the context of this persona, I eventually came to love myself from the outside-in. I’m not saying that wigs solved the problem, but they definitely helped.

Thus, to a lot of black women, wigs are both ornamental and sentimental, an alter ego and an extension of oneself.

On Monday, SZA debuted this incredible brown afro look on her Gram:

A post shared by SZA (@sza) on

It left everyone shaking (understandably so) and sent fans and followers into a back-and-fourth regarding whether look was ‘hit or miss’:

SZA replied to the post, “Lmao jus a wig n a good ole time. Love to everybody!!”

I think it’s encouraging to see that despite society trying to dictate and police what women do with their hair, we find more and more ways to do what we fucking want.

Hair is important, liberating, and freeing, among many other things. Wigs arm women with agency and allow us to look and feel more like ourselves, all while having fun and looking dope.

Iggy seems to be trying to connect with her fans on a personal level lately, because she’s been in her comments answering questions about her fave beauty products, techniques, and things she can’t live without.

Lucky for us, we have been creeping on her page to catch all the details on what Iggy currently lives by.

Join Galore Beauty for exclusive convos, content and more.

When it comes to foundation brands, you’ll only catch Iggy in Makeup Forever or Giorgio Armani – both of which you can purchase from Sephora.

She gets her eyebrows micro-bladed, and when they’re looking dull she uses the Bobbi Brown Brown Pencil in Blonde.

Also, or people who thought her eyes were naturally brown, they’re actually green but look brown from a distance, according to Iggy. And yes, she is, in fact, a natural blonde.

When it comes to things she does in her spare time, Iggy told a fan she’s currently loving reading the Keith Richards biography, and her go-to music book is “The Land Where The Blues Began” by Alan Lomax.

“Since we are in such a crazy political time I’d also recommend reading ‘The Orgins of Political Order,'” adds Iggy.

Which Sex And The City character are you based on your sex toy preference?

$

There’s bizarre, meant-to-be-a-joke character quizzes, and then there’s extremely telling character quizzes.

This is one of those telling ones.

As we all know, “Sex and the City” is a cult favorite TV show that, as problematic as it may be, is very liberating and inspiring in many ways. “Sex and the City” is the show that inspired me to start making the first move, to be confident in my own skin, and to buy my very first sex toy.

READ ALSO: This app will make your sexts safer and way more secure

I know many women that credit their sexual liberation to the show, because, at the time, it was ground breaking for women who enjoyed sex. Prior to “Sex and the City,” there wasn’t really a show whose female characters talked about sex so casually and openly (like at a Sunday brunch).

Again, as problematic as “Sex and the City” may be (i.e. no non-stereotypical actors of color, stereotypical LGBTQ characters, and yknow, much, much more), it can still be seen as a great example for women who are looking to feel comfortable in being sexually empowered.

Now, since “Sex and the City” prompted me to buy my very first sex toy, I got to thinking: did I buy a mini, pink vibrator first because I was timid? Or, did I simply buy that because that’s what Carrie would have purchased?

No, jk.

But seriously, viewers usually find themselves relating to one or two characters specifically on the show, rather than all four. I always felt I was a Carrie and a Samantha. I wondered – what “Sex and the City” character was I based on my sex toy preference? (Yes, I’m purposefully writing like Carrie, let me live my journalistic dream).

So, here goes. This article is for all the girls who swear they’re a Carrie AND a Miranda – most likely, you are actually just one after you take this quiz.

1. Carrie

Carrie doesn’t often talk about sex toys, even throughout a 6(.5) season run. But, it’s safe to assume she dabbles in your regular, vanilla toys every now and then (especially during that post-Big breakup that was pre-Aidan). For Carrie, she most likely uses a small, east to conceal, cutesy vibrator similar to this one from Love Honey.

It’s also probable that Carrie is really into using toys that involve her and her partner. Carrie is all about believing in love (even though she’s sometimes a cynic), and is obviously very big (haha) on relationships and intimacy. Another option for Carrie would be the We Vibe – it’s a vibrator that you or your partner can control via a remote or an app.

Carrie would love this shit. And if you do, too, then you’re the Carrie of the group.

Another great option (a runner up) would be these fuzzy shoes that she once tried, but admittedly, with the wrong man (fucking Berger).

READ ALSO: This timeline of the ‘Sex and the City 3’ drama proves it’s nothing new

2. Charlotte

The trickiest of them all is Charlotte, mainly because she’s quite shy about being open with others about sex. But, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get her freak on in the sheets! But, think bougie freak in the sheets. Because Charlotte only goes big or goes home.

For Charlotte, there are two really good options. Option one would be (duh) a fancy shmancey slip to wear to bed, like this one from Agent Provocateur – there’s even a scene of her wearing something similar to bed with Trey, if you recall. The second option would be this chandelier face mask from Agent Provocateur, because Charlotte is extra af.

Sex toys, for Charlotte, aren’t about the stimulation – they are about helping her feel sexy and confident in bed, which these options would absolutely do. Charlotte is all about, similar to Carrie, the relationship and the intimacy. The slip and face mask are awesome choices for exactly this. If this seems like you, you’re a Charlotte all the way.

3. Samantha

Samantha would honestly probably use every sex toy imaginable if prompted, but this is about preference. We know for a fact that her favorite sex toy is her giant ass wand (we know this because of the fact that she eventually broke it from overuse). Legend has it that The Magic Wand is the vibrator to end all vibrators – nothing but the best for our dear Sam.

Samantha also really enjoys using food during sex, such as sushi or whipped cream, and we know she loves a unique piece of lingerie. This insane playsuit from Agent Provocateur would certainly do the trick, as Samantha is really into exploring new things (i.e. sex swing) and definitely goes for a shock value in the bedroom. Can’t imagine a dude expecting her showing up in that.

On top of this, Samantha always seems to be wearing expensive jewelry during the act, and she never shows up unprepared. Samantha is also always down for a nice glass of Veuve or a hit of some top shelf weed before sex. It’s also fair to say that Samantha is into role playing, so, if you’re into dressing up, you’re a Samantha.

We stan.

4. Miranda

Miranda’s sex toy preference in awesome in its simplicity: The Rabbit. Oh, The Rabbit. A classic choice, just like Miranda. As we know, once Miranda finds The Rabbit on her random sex shop run, she never goes back. In fact, she keeps it right in her bedside drawer, not packed away in a “maybe I’ll use this random sex toy one day” box in the back of her closet.

That’s true love right there.

Aside from this, I feel like Miranda is really down to try some butt stuff. Meaning, I’m willing to assume she would peg. So, we think Miranda would be really into testing out this strap on from Love Honey. Miranda even heavily questions Samantha after her first strap on adventure.

She’s also all about doing it yourself if no one else is around to help, so, as she said, battery operated devices are a big “go.”

Miranda is practical af, so anything that’s efficient or anything that makes an orgasm easier/faster, she’s into. If you like to get things done quickly, you’re a Miranda 100%.

Side note: It’s oddly difficult finding any GIF or still of Miranda’s more sexual moments, which, to me, is super lame. Just because she’s Miranda doesn’t mean she’s not sexual af!

5. Bonus – Stanford

Stanford, of course, would be very similar to Carrie in his sex toy choices. They’re both extra as hell and I feel like Stanford wants his toys to match his personality.

So, for Stanford, my first choice would be this hot pink butt plug. It has to be hot pink though, otherwise it’s not very Stanford of him. As an addition, some really expensive lube would definitely be in his drawer – like this one from Love Honey.

And, obviously Stanford would buy the male version of The Rabbit – aka, The Rabbit, but as a cock ring. And yes, this would have to be hot pink, too.

Don’t forget, Stanford’s sex is also most likely followed by a cigarette or two, and probably a martini.

10 natural “no-makeup makeup” beauty looks to try this spring

I can finally say, sans irony or contempt, that Spring has arrived (I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Spring has sprung, but that’s probably just because it sounds corny).

Spring is the perfect time to switch up your look. With a new season usually comes newfound inspiration, and a certain je ne sais quoi that makes us all want to look and feel reborn (for lack of a better, much less dramatic word).

The sun coming out also makes the Spring an awesome time to try all of the bright, crazy makeup looks you’ve been seeing people in LA pull off all year round. That being said though, Spring is also a great time to take advantage of natural, glowey and dewey makeup looks.

They’re an awesome way to transition from the cold to the warm(er) days, and are easy for much easier for beginners (like myself) to recreate . Here are some gorgeous, natural Spring beauty looks that any and everyone can pull off:

Blogger and IG gal Madeleine Rose shared this photo a couple of days ago on the gram, where she looks super chill, natural and golden.

Sure the perfect tan helps, but she also seems to have taken advantage of some beautiful bronzer and blush (two Spring staples that, as you will see, make many reappearances in this post).

This is the ultimate “no makeup makeup” look if you ask me: at first glance, homegirl just looks as though she has the world’s best skin and universe’s rosiest cheeks (not to mention, the coolest hair ever).

But as cruelty-free makeup blogger Olivya reveals in the caption, a lot more went into this look than it seems, including some of your favorite products from Milk Makeup, Nyx Cosmetics, Kat Von D, Milani Cosmetics, Fenty Beauty and of course, Anastasia.

Giselle Ali is a celebrity makeup artist specializing in darker skin tones. All of her work is amazing, but this look on the Lejonhjärta twins for Drake’s “Nice for What,” music video is some of her best work.

The twins are glowing from the inside out, thanks to some products listed in the caption.

Consider “bronzed glow and peachy cheeks”  Spring’s official subtitle.

Slashed By Tia’s new campaign is inspired by her country, Nigeria, and Fela Kuti

“When I was younger, my older brother was obsessed with Fela Kuti (1938-97) – he ironically died the year I was born.

My brother would watch his performances and interviews for hours during the weekend. When I came home from school, I often watched with him. I was not only inspired by Fela himself, but was also inspired by his Kalakuta queens. His performances were never complete without them.

The Kalakuta queens were so majestic, yet so sensual and powerful. Their clothes were nothing short of extraordinary. The motions that the beads created were unmatched. Their execution was in reference to the rich and powerful continent that is Africa!

Fela and the Kalakuta queens greatly inspired my newest campaign video. This video is a way for me to bring awareness to the talent that stems from my country, Nigeria, while incorporating a contemporary art form.

There have recently been shows about Fela on Broadway, which are amazing, but I feel as though there should be more positive noise made about him. He broke boundaries in several aspects of life, particularly Nigerian politics at that time.

Fela focused on taking down corruption and abuse of power. He showed true, human spirit, and encouraged Nigerians to stand up for their rights and speak up to power.

Fela was beaten, imprisoned, and harassed, yet he never gave up. This is the type of resilience young Africans need to embody. In my video, it was challenging, but rewarding, to be able to take ballet away from the sleepy calisthenics display of boredom (in my opinion) to 21st century electrifying Afrocentrism.

Check out the video below, inspired by Fela, featuring my own personal designs.”

Why Don’t We is the newest group in the boy band machine, and we’re into it

For as long as teenage girls have been able to scream, boy bands have been the reason behind it.

90s kids had NYSNC and Backstreet Boys, 2000s bbs had the Jonas Brothers, we had One Direction and now, the squealing tweens and teens of this generation have Why Don’t We.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this quintet, the group consists of Daniel Seavey (19), Corbyn Besson (19), Jack Avery (19), Jonah Marais (19) and Zach Herron (16). Since forming in 2016, these five cuties have assembled a cult-like army of fans (who took up several blocks of Times Square waiting for the boys to arrive hours before showtime).

Why Don’t We has released hits like “Something Different,” and “Trust Fund Baby,” and they even performed as a headliner for this year’s Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden.

I spent the day with the boys before one of their three sold out shows at the PlayStation Theater here in New York. By the end, it really wasn’t hard to understand just why girls are so obsessed.

Check out our tour diary and Q&A sesh with the boys below.

You guys sold out three shows in New York! How does that feel? How has it been adjusting to a fan base that seems to just keep growing?

Jonah: It feels really awesome. It’s a special thing as an artist to be able to create and have people on the other end waiting for the art that we make. The Limelights go hard, they’re the best group of people I’ve ever come across in my whole life.

They’re so supportive and show up in every city – they mean the world to us and I’m so excited to see where this whole thing goes.

Is there a difference in crowds going from city to city? Are some areas louder/more passionate than others?

Zach: The crowds are always hype, our fans are amazing in every city. It’s cool to see which part of the show they get the loudest for each night. We always have a great time and give them the best show ever.

It was really cool watching you guys interact with your fans backstage. What have been some memorable moments with fans on the tour?

Jack: Being able to see a sold out show every night has been super amazing – it’s just memorable being able to meet new people every day and experience all these new things.

What are some ways your fans can stand out when they’re meeting you? What is something they can do that will capture your attention or make you remember them?

Jonah: I really love it when fans just want to have a normal conversation. I like learning about their lives, how their day is going, what they’re into, what are their hobbies. I like to connect on a personal level.

But, I also love to just say hi and take a selfie too.

READ ALSO: Olivia Culpo is the face of TIMEX’s brand new 2018 women’s collection

What about horror stories? Have you had any crazy experiences with fans on the road?

Corbyn: Not really any horror stories, but it’s crazy how the fans find our hotels on tour without us even telling anybody. They literally find us wherever we are, which I kind of cool but at the same time I swear they could work for the FBI.

Social media plays a huge factor with a lot of artists nowadays. Do you ever check out fan profiles or respond to DMs? What’s the best way to get a reply to you online?

Corbyn: We are literally always on social media, immediately after our shows we always go on and check Twitter and Instagram for pictures the fans have uploaded from the shows. I think something that really stands out to us is the creativity – some of our fans are super talented and make these crazy fan edits and paintings. That’s something that really stands out to us.

Ok so, what about the other way around? Do any of you guys slide into girls DMs? What’s your go to pick up line?

Jack: Well of course we slide into the DMs, we’re guys! My go to pick up line is, “Are you Google? Because you’re everything I’m searching for.”

Oldest question in the book, but, would you ever actually date a fan? Is it possible that a girl could catch your attention at a meet and greet or even at a show?

Zach: Possibly, if they are cool and everything I’ve been searching for, then heck yeah, let’s go for it.

Lastly, what’s one thing you want people to take away from you, whether it be when they meet you or through your music? What’s something you want people to remember you by?

Daniel: I really want to be remembered for my joy, my happiness and my thankfulness. That’s always been a big thing for me and why I make music, because so much happiness is spread through it.

To be able to take that joy that I feel in music and spread it to others is such a blessing, and that’s constantly something I try to put out there. Even outside of music – just how I carry myself and how I treat others, I always want to spread positivity.

This makeup for your hair is fun af, but also life-changing

I originally wanted to check out the Prism Airbrush Spray by Hush because of 2018 festival beauty trends – colorful hair is back in a big way.

The brand, carried at the king, Sephora, creates colored hair sprays for all of your “I wish I had pink hair but just for a day” needs. The line includes seven colors, including blue, purple, and red.

Since we all tried to dye our hair for the month of July using Kool Aid mix and it always ended horribly, I have a bad taste in my mouth about temporary coloring. But, with Hush, the unique colors are, admittedly, really awesome for a night out, a festival, a birthday, or just to try out a new color that you’d never try permanently.

READ ALSO: 10 natural “no-makeup makeup” beauty looks to try this spring

Upon trying out the Prism Airbrush Sprays, I noticed that the feel of them was surprisingly soft and thin – they weren’t thick and still like most (yknow, the ones that are super hairspray-like). You can spray these on, go about your day, and not worry about your hair feeling like a crinkled mess.

Also, these sprays work on all hair colors and hair types. It’s hard to find any hair products that are versatile and inclusive, so it’s refreshing that something so fun can be for everyone!

Hush also has a line of sprays called Fill Seekers. The line contains different colors to match your hair color, including medium brown, which I personally tried.

This Fill Seeker is meant to be used for hair plumping and fuller hair, and honestly, helps with filling in roots that maybe don’t match the rest of your head.

This formula basically felt like a light dry shampoo that had the same effects – the Fill Seeker made my hair feel like it had volume and gave me an all over bombshell effect. This effect was also heightened when my hair was additionally blown out.

Not bad for a little bottle of spray.

I definitely recommend this brand to you if you’re looking to add a little excitement to your beauty routine without the commitment, or if you’re in need of a solution for fuller hair. If you want to check out Hush, click here to see their Sephora collection.

The Body Shop’s hemp line will fix all of your stubborn dry spots

The Body Shop is officially celebrating 20 years of their iconic, cult-favorite Hemp range – I had never tried any of their hemp products, or any hemp products, actually, and thought I would go ahead and test out their whole line.

Hemp is known as being super beneficial when used within skincare routines, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about from the OG hemp brands. The Body Shop’s hemp line includes a foot protector, face protector, hand cream, body cream, a body mitt, and a lip protector.

READ ALSO: This makeup for your hair is fun af, but also life-changing

And no, you can’t get high off of hemp, nor will your body feel tingly like it might with a CBD product.

“You’d have to smoke a joint the size of a telephone pole to get high on hemp,” Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop.

Even though hemp and marijuana are sourced from the same plant, specific varieties grown for their fibers and seeds are extremely low in THC, the chemical compound that will actually get you high. The variety that The Body Shop uses only contains small, trace amounts of THC.

Hemp is, like I said, a popular ingredient in beauty products now. It’s 2018. But, back when The Body Shop first introduced hemp into it’s products, they pretty much set the trend for using hemp, being one of the first brands across the world to reap the benefits of the oil.

Since legalization is finally coming around, people are finally getting into The Body Shop’s pro-hemp attitude.

Actually, in 1998, police completely raided one of The Body Shop’s stores in France because of their usage of hemp. But, activist and founder, Anita Roddick, was determined to share with the world the benefits of hemp oil. Anita and The Body Shop helped revolutionize the use of hemp oil in skincare, and it’s a damn good thing they did.

Each product is enriched with community trade hemp seed oil that is sustainably sourced from a secret supplier in France. There are 300 farmers that cultivate, cold-press, and refine the hemp seed oil in a way that’s also beneficial to the environment.

Hemp is known as a “miracle crop,” because it helps regenerate land and it naturally cleans soil without needing artificial fertilizers. Hemp also provides a habitat for local wildlife and can also be used to create sustainable building materials. Hemp is also four times more effective at capturing CO2 than trees.

So, you can take care of yourself with hemp via your skin and via the environment.

As for the skin benefits, aka, the most important part of this article, hemp oil is basically magic. For starters, I didn’t really know what hemp oil was even supposed to do. The Body Shop, thankfully, sent me plenty of information on the benefits of hemp and what exactly the products were meant to help with.

“Hemp seed oil is made up of 80% essential fatty acids (EFAs), including omegas 3, 6, and 9, and its balance of EFAs make it perfect for intensely moisturizing dry skin. Plant oils work with your sebum (the skin’s own oil) and natural moisturizing factor (NMF) to enhance the skin’s barrier function,” says Jennifer Hirsch, Beauty Botanist for The Body Shop.

“This reduces trans-epidermal water loss, which means skin is better hydrated. Hemp acts like an armor that seals in moisture and defends your skin against the elements,” Jennifer adds.

Jennifer couldn’t have been more right. I used every single hemp product from The Body Shop, so basically, my body was a hemp oil canvas.

Also, let me first disclaim that putting these products all over my body had me feeling like I was in a hemp oil cocoon. This hemp oil shit is no joke!!!!! This stuff is thick, and you can immediately feel the moisture penetrating your skin.

READ ALSO: 5 products that will keep your skin bomb af this spring

The next day, I could still feel the moisture. Usually, the morning after I apply product, it’s completely worn off, but The Body Shop products were still working on my skin 9 hours later.

And then another 9 hours.

That next night, I was still feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom. This moisture did not leave my body for about 36 hours – even after a shower. That’s insane to me.

If you have dryness in any specific areas, or if you’re just looking to feel more moisturized as spring rolls around, definitely try out this collection. You will be hard pressed to find anything wrong with this hemp line, and it could potentially change your entire body care routine.

Lolo Zouaï is a rising singer-songwriter from Paris, and she is officially premiering her newest single with Galore.

Her newest release, “Desert Rose,” is all about the obstacles she has had to overcome because of her multi-cultural background, being both Algerian and English.

“I wrote this song in an attempt to unify us by mixing English and Arabic, and to ask them to accept me and love me as I am,” says Lolo Zouaï.

The charming R&B and soulful track voices the difficulty Lolo faces consistently. “A desert rose is a rose-like crystal that forms in the desert of Algeria, and is said to have healing properties that help you grow as a person. I’m half Algerian, and have received criticism from my Algerian side for the content of my music and my image – culminating in them asking me to change my last name,” says Lolo.

Lolo is growing from her past and cultivating a name for herself as a break out artist to watch. Lolo’s presence on soundcloud brings a variety of songs to vibe to all week long.
