Recycle these Summer trends into the Fall if you refuse to buy a new wardrobe

It’s sometimes unwise to buy into the phrase, “out with the old, in with the new”. Sure, it applies to a wide variety of situations, and is especially useful when dealing with boys. But when it comes to clothing, such is not the case.

The idea that you (the royal ‘you’, not just you specifically, but also you) have to continue to buy new clothes is not only financially unrealistic and bad for the environment, it’s unnecessary.

If haven’t already mastered the art of the faux shopping spree, look no further. I’m about to provide you with everything you need to look sick this Fall, without having to spend a dime. I mean sure, I could give you 500 actual dollars to shop and you likely wouldn’t complain, but what’s that saying again? Teach a man to fish? Yeah, exactly.

Well, this master post will have you eating seafood all season long.

Read below for all of the best Fall trends you already have in your closet, and how I think you should wear them:

Western boots

It’s spooky season 👻

A post shared by Jie Zheng (@_jiezheng) on

Ah, yes. We are very appropriately beginning the post with this very pertinent trend. I’ve already gone on at length about how the unapologetic return of cowboy boots is cause for celebration. Such has not changed since, and I think we’d be silly not to carry this trend over into the Fall.

I mean, part of the whole irony to begin with was that this re-emerged as a Summer trend but is really more practical for the Winter months. So…keep wearing them. I rest my case.

Slip dresses

Oh yes, the slip dress is one of the Fall’s most versatile dress options, no scratch that, clothing options. Slip dresses are an easy go-to during the Summer of course, but the Fall presents even more exciting styling opportunities: I vote we make laying cool again (I do apologize for that syntax) and throw the slip dress over literally everything and anything and also all things. Think sweaters, crewnecks, tees, you name it. It’s not hard. Bonus points for strategic belting.

High-waisted flare pants

Gotta bounce!!!

A post shared by Nat (@notlikenat) on

Duh, if there’s one article of clothing with the most representation in my wardrobe, it’s the high waisted wide leg pant. I’m a little biased, as this has always been my choice clothing article (a blouse? what’s that?) but high rise wide leg pants will get you through the Fall like a pro. It’s also kind of a known thing that it takes skill to fuck up an outfit wherein wide leg flare pants reside. Literally start with the pants and no matter what else the rest of the fit is looking like, the look as a whole will be fire.

Above is actually the perfect way to wear them: throw them on with a tee and some sneakers or chunky boots and you’re set to jet. Yes, I used that nonironically. Moving on.

Tiny crops

A post shared by Kourtney Kardashian (@kourtneykardash) on

Itty bitty cropped tops have been a thing since always but even more so since festival season this year. I think this silhouette is extremely flattering on most people, so if you’re comfortable in the crop I’d throw these tops on under things like zip up hoodies to make them Fall-friendly. Plus, I think cropped tops and pants look way cooler than cropped tops and shorts, so I’m hype for what’s to come.

Just t-shirts

A post shared by 🌸🌸Yerrr🌸🌸 (@wuzg00d) on

T-shirts: can’t live without them (I skipped the can’t live with them part of the aphorism, because that’s simply not the case). They make for perhaps the easiest styling always. Of course, it’s fun to throw an oversized tee over some loose fitting shorts or under a cute little skirt, but there’s no need to ditch tees for sweaters completely come Fall. The simple fix here is just to wear them with some warmer pants and just have a really strong leather jacket game.

Bodysuits

I luv slouchy jeans !! U’ve heard of Oscar the grouch now get ready for Oscar the slouch !!

A post shared by Sarah Torkornoo (@sarahfromnewyork) on

Bodysuits are my fav (see above). In the Summer they’re easy to tuck into shorts, and now I like the idea of wearing them with slouchy pants or sweats for an elevated basic Fall look situation (the end of that sentence had about four too many words, I’m aware).

Okay, so I clearly couldn’t pick just one of these insanely pleasing shoe flicks to post here, but you get the idea. Statement sneakers have been around all Summer and show no sign of going anywhere, not so long as literally any human anywhere has feet to wear them on. That said, sprucing up your favorite Summer sneaks with a cool new pair of socks is all you really need to do to revamp them.

Corsets

A post shared by Jessicah Davies (@jessicahdavies) on

Corsets are another favorite look of mine, because they’re so pretty and feminine and badass (all of which are synonymous).

The look above is a perfect example of how to make the corset your bitch this Fall. Wearing a corset over more conventional Fall staples like blouses or blazers makes for an awesome silhouette, and just a super cool look overall.

Pullover hoodies

🐐😤

A post shared by Nat (@notlikenat) on

Much like tees, pullover hoodies will never not be a thing of the present. Can you please name amore practical article of clothing? I’ll happily wait for you to do so.

On the real, I do love Summer styling when it comes to pullover hoodies, because I think their juxtaposition with shorts, as shown above, or with skirts or dresses is really cool. That being said, they’re obviously a practical Fall moment given the fact that they’re…idk, warm! And cozy, among other things. Honestly wearing a really weird hoodie with some plain jeans is such a cool look for the Fall. Moving on.

Zip-up hoodies

View this post on Instagram

I 🖤 this vintage Everlast bodysuit more than insert any noun

A post shared by Sarah Torkornoo (@sarahfromnewyork) on

Ugh…sorry, it’s me again. But I’m here to talk about zip-up hoodies, which I think had their moment more so in the mid-2000s and are slowly creeping back up again. I mean it’s no secret that they’ve lost the popularity contest to their considerably more popular counterpart, the pullover hoodie. And I get it, pullover hoodies are cool. Vetements and stuff. Give zip up hoodies a chance though, they’re exceptionally useful when it comes to showing off the outfit underneath. Just saying.

Overalls

Overalls are another tried and true classic, and in my opinion nothing beats a Summer overalls-with-little-to-nothing-underneath them situation, but they’re an easy piece to wear into the cooler months, and luckily for us all, look super cute worn over turtleneck sweaters. Also, they’re an entire outfit in one which is always just nice— convenience never goes out of style, honey.

Midi dresses

The midi dress is the best length of dress in existence, don’t fight me on it.

I think the Fall is really the midi dress’s time to shine, because its mid-ankle length leaves (Autumn! Leaves! Wow no pun intended, I’ll be here all week) the perfect opportunity to show of your favorite Fall boots. Know what I mean?

Baker boy hats

Newsboy caps are everything, and go extremely well with any of the aforementioned clothing items. Fall is definitely the time for hat moments without having to worry about getting too sweaty. Though we do love sweat in this family.

All of the leather

This party sucks

A post shared by Sarah Torkornoo (@sarahfromnewyork) on

I’m not sure what it was, but this Summer I’ve been wearing a shit ton of leather, which seems counterintuitive. Like, maybe every other outfit I’ve worn in the past month has contained some leather component, and not by accident.

Well obviously, Fall is peak leather weather™. And while the Summer heat hasn’t stopped me from wearing my favorite leather pants here or a leather bustier there, Fall is the perfect time to combine all of these pieces and wear them together. Wearing head-to-toe leather can be a commitment, and I envy those that are just all about that life 24/7. But I say throw on three of the leather pieces you own and see if you can make it work. You’ll definitely be warm, at the very least.

Acrylic nails

don’t talk to me unless we talkin about my nails 💅🏽

A post shared by @ jnaprz on

Some people are truly about this life 365 days a year, and I envy those people. But this Summer, more and more people I knew have been hopping on the hot nail wave, and I hope that’s just foreshadowing for the next couple of months. Honestly, any clothing trend can be emulated via cool manicure, so even if there’s a clothing item you’re dying for or a color of bag you just need, an alternative could just be to get a really bomb manicure and save the extra cash. Plus of course, nails like these will add so much to your look.

Lil Mama is still expressive and true to herself with or without social media influence

Lil Mama taught us all the importance of the application of a little lip gloss back in ’07, and we still haven’t gotten over her iconic lesson (I mean, those lyrics are ingrained in my head).

Brooklyn native, Lil Mama, has been a performing artist since 2006 and continues to grow her own empire. Since the debut of her freshman album, “VYP (Voice of the Young People),” in 2008, she has been working on her music, film, and television careers. With the help of social media, Lil Mama has stayed connected with her fanbase from her “Lip Gloss” days, and continues to stay true to her values.

We caught up with the glossy artist to talk about social media, throwbacks, and her biggest influences. Read below to check out what she is up to now!

With Sound Cloud, Instagram, Twitter and countless other platforms exposing artists easily, what was your process like getting your music out there in the beginning?

In the beginning of my music career, it was difficult to create and reach a national/international fan base. Unlike today, with the advantage of social media, when I first started out in the business there was limited outreach and promotional platforms. If an artist wanted to connect with global music fans and established musicians, we had the option of either signing a deal with a record label or hiring a manager with reputable relationships in the music industry.

We also had the option of Guerrilla Marketing, aka Grassroots Campaigning, which was the approach my family and independent record label took in the beginning. We invested into promotional vans/sprinters with photos and album tiles plastered on the surface, CD’s, posters, t-shirts etc. to promote my music in the city of New York, where I grew up.

There was a much longer process to growing my fan base in the beginning of my career, compared to the help of social platforms today. I believe that social media is a great way to connect with fans and have a direct relationship with them.

Shout out to #TheVoices, by the way!

What are your favorite throwbacks to listen to?

“Angel” by Anita Baker, “Right Thur” by Chingy, “Best Friend” by Brandy, “Shake it Fast” by Mystikal, “Lately” by Stevie Wonder, “Why Don’t We” by Amerie, “Slam” by Onyx, “Fu-gee-la” by The Fugees, and “Anything (Remix)” SWV featuring Wu-Tang Clan.

What is your favorite album of all time?

“The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” by Lauryn Hill.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?

Michael Jackson, Missy Elliot, Beyonce, Lauryn Hill, and Lil Kim, just to name a few.

What were your favorite fashion trends from the early 2000’s?

Sports jerseys and velour sweat suits!

In your opinion, who were the fashion icons during that time?

Mary J. Blige, Lil Kim, Jennifer Lopez…and my mom!

What were the BEST songs on the radio?

“Super Woman” by Lil Mo and Fabolous, “Lets Get Married” remix by Jagged Edge, and “Best of Me” remix by Mya.

How have you adapted from the world you grew up in to staying relevant now online?

I have adapted by staying true to myself and being vulnerable enough to share personal experiences with my fans on social media. It’s not easy opening up to strangers, but I know how important it is for my fans to get to know the real me.

How do you feel about the social and political climate of today in contrast to when you were younger?

I feel as though social and political climate today compared to when I was younger, is a lot more informative. Before we just had the news, but there are so many platforms online now where anyone can find out information on their own.

What are your favorite beauty products right now?

There are so many! Currently, I’m obsessing over Coloured Raine Cosmetics and their Queen of Hearts palette.

What do you use for your skin care routine?

A phenomenal toner, a dry clay mask, and a great moisturizer.

If you could have one pair of shoes for the rest of your life what would they be?

Tap shoes! I would never go without music and you’ll always hear me coming.

What projects have you been working on?

I am working on film, television, and music, while in the process of completing my sophomore album and writing/ publishing my first book.

How has your style of creative expression changed since you started?

My creative expression has evolved through my music, videos, dance skills and concepts, strengthening my muscle as an actor, all while adapting to fame and growing up in the spotlight.

Hey, guys! Mariama Diallo here, and I just wanted to share some traveling tips with Galore!

I have been traveling my whole life – I was born in guinea but went to pre-k in Canada, first grade in the United States, 3rd grade on the Ivory Coast, and moved back the Guinea until the age of 11 – which is when I officially moved to the the States (phew)!

Since then I have also traveled to London, Manchester, Sweden, Cape Town, Costa Rica, Bermuda, Guatemala, and I am currently in Thailand writing this!

Crazy life, I know. But, with all the traveling I have done, I have been able to gain some great traveling knowledge, and I’m here to share some tips with you guys!

TRAVELING TIPS

1. Do your research and make a list! One thing that I started doing this year when traveling was doing research about where I was traveling to. I make a checklist and actually schedule things so I can visit more places. GAME CHANGER!

2. Check the weather! This way you can pack accordingly and get your outfits ready.

3. Pack light. I always pack then double check and take some things out. You always end up wearing way less than what you actually packed, meaning you brought too much. Pack the essentials and then add a cute outfit or two just in case!

4. Make photocopies of important documents when traveling!!! Always make sure to have copies of all of your important documents, nothing is worst then being stranded in a DIR.

5. Tell your bank that you are traveling. I always make sure to tell them where and when I am traveling to avoid my card being declined while away (because it’s seriously the worst).

6. Learn about the culture of your destination. Its very important to me when I travel somewhere to actually learn about the culture and try to talk to some of the locals!

7. Be flexible, open minded, and have fun! Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and that’s okay! You are on vacation, so don’t let anything ruin your fun. Live in the moment and make the best of it!

TRAVELING MUST-HAVES

1. Rose water/face mist. I use “Caudalie Paris” beauty elixir and I am in love with it! I spray it on my face throughout the day and it keeps me refreshed and the smell is so relaxing.

2. Scarves when traveling somewhere where the weather is unpredictable is a must. I always pack tons of cute scarves and headbands just in case.

3. Facial products. Always bring a travel-sized face wash, toner, and moisturizer. Also, shampoo and conditioner. I find myself washing my hair a lot more when I am on vacation or traveling for work due to the weather changes. Therefore, it’s always good to have the products that you know work for you.

4. Speaking of hair – please bring hairspray! Some of the most popular places people tend to visit during the holidays are near water, aka they are very humid. So, keep some anti-humidity hair spray in your bag and you should be good!

5. Bug spray!!!!!! Well ,this one is pretty self-explanatory. Always better to be safe than sorry!

6. Battery pack. You never know if there will be outlets when traveling or when you go exploring, so its always helpful to have an external battery around just in case.

7. Swimsuit (duh). I love going for a swim when I am traveling so I always make sure to pack a swimsuit (or two).

Oh, just a typical day in the lives of Evan Ross + Ashlee Simpson

Our favorite celeb couple and Galore cover stars, Ashlee and Evan, are back on the entertainment industry scene, and we couldn’t be more excited.

The couple’s E! Network TV show, “Ashlee+Evan,” recently debuted early September, and it’s already shown long-time fans an inside peek into all things family, love, and life together as a team.

Ashlee and Evan are also back in to studio together – they recently released their first single together, titled, “I Do” (omg, they are so cute?!?).

The duo plan to release a full album sometime later this year, and after listening to “I Do,” we honestly can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us.

We sat down with the love birds to discuss raising children, balancing work and life (something we all struggle with), their new music, their clothing line, and more. Check out the interview and photoshoot below!

READ ALSO: Lil Mama is still expressive and true to herself with or without social media influence

Tell us about your new show.

Evan: At first it was just for us to document us making music together for the first time. Then we thought it would be good for people to get to know us. We also wanted it to feel more like a documentary. The people we had filming it had all done films and documentaries.

Ashlee: It’s real. It is a lot of love and is positive, and that makes it different.

What was the craziest thing that happened while filming this series?

Ashlee: I know for me it was when we went away to Palm Springs for a relaxing family weekend and Evan surprised me and all of our friends showed up (laughs).

Evan: I’m still defending myself.  I did not tell our friends that we had all of that space and a warm pool and all that!

Ashlee: Well, it was all caught on camera.

Thing you’re most excited about for the show?

Evan: I think people getting the chance to know who we really are. We’re still very private, but we wanted to invite people in on this journey.

Ashlee: Yeah, and for me it’s a chance to reconnect with so many of my fans and people who supported me. It’s also pushed me to create and express myself again, but in a way that’s authentic.

What is it like working together as a couple so closely on so many things – music, a show, and raising children?

Evan: It’s so good. We’re better together sometimes when it comes to being creative. And work takes me away a lot whether it’s because I’m doing a movie or TV, so if I have the chance to do what I love with the people I love, it’s cool. It doesn’t get better.

Do you guys ever get overwhelmed with each other, and if so, how do you work around that?

Ashlee: When I’m caught off guard I definitely have like a smile and don’t say a lot. I kinda go away for a bit and think or do whatever I have to do quietly. Then I come back and return to the moment and realize it’s all okay.

Evan: We talk about things. Communication is key. I feel we don’t hold our anger in. We have a strong commitment to each other. Every couple has ups and downs, but in the end, we “love it out.”

Tell us about the music you guys are working on together!

Evan: It’s got a lot of soul, but also a fun vibe. Ashlee’s vocals gives the songs a bit of a rock edge, too. It’s a combination of different things, but it always comes down to good melodies and music that makes you feel good.

Ashlee: Music was something that connected us right from the start. It’s been fun getting back in the studio and creating something new that’s completely us.

How would you describe the new music in two words?

Ashlee: Love. Together.

Evan: Definitely love. And Soulful.

Can we expect some amazing couple vibes in a music video for this new music?

Ashlee: We’d like to do that. We have a lot of ideas. That’s what’s so good. Between the two of us, ideas just keep flowing. We find inspiration all around.

How did your unisex clothing collab with Zadig and Voltaire come about? What was the inspiration behind the line?

Ashlee: From the beginning I was in Evan’s closet and he was in mine. I loved wearing his vintage t-shirts. We also named the line after our daughter, Jagger Snow.

Evan: And I’d feel very comfortable in her jackets or blouses. As a kid, I was never told what I could or couldn’t wear. It’s like, if you feel good in it, it’s right. I think right now with fashion, it can be whatever you want it to be.

READ ALSO: Sex toy subscription boxes are the best way to have some fun without having to step in a store

Favorite piece in the line?

Evan: I especially love the jackets. You can just wear them for anything and with anything. There’s a black blazer that is just amazing.

Ashlee: I love all the t-shirts that have expressions of love on them. A few pieces read ‘We don’t need permission to love.’ I think that’s so beautiful.

Why did you guys decide to create a uniquely unisex line?

Ashlee: It’s our hope that in this moment right now, we can all go from the same closet. No placement or limits. We can all share.

Evan: It’s like a canvas, and we had the chance to create. It was a way to really express ourselves. The clothing is like pieces of art.

Ashlee: Our daughter was also an inspiration.

Hardest thing about being parents?

Evan: For me it’s being away from my family. It’s just always want to be around, and it’s hard when I have to go away for work.

Ashlee: I think for me it’s about finding that balance between work and home. I’m getting better, but I just want to make sure I’m there for everyone.

Most rewarding thing?

Evan: The hugs. The snuggles.

Ashlee: Yeah, nothing beats the hugs. Well, maybe the kisses.

READ ALSO: These Fashion Month shows paved the way to the future of runway model casting

How do you balance work, love, and life? What keeps you guys on track?

Evan: It takes work, but you can do it. My mom had and still has a gigantic career, but it never felt like she was away. It’s about being committed to each other and knowing your priorities.

What do you guys like to do as a family?

Evan: We do a lot of dancing. I just pick Jagger up and start dancing. Music is always in our home.

Ashlee: Dancing is our playtime. Also, we went to Disneyland this summer and had so much fun. Jagger also likes dressing up and putting on makeup.

Favorite place to vacation?

Ashlee: Paris holds a special place in my heart. We spent some time there when Evan was making a movie and had a very romantic and sexy time.

Evan: Good memories. It inspired the song “Paris” that’s on our EP.

Best memory you have of each other?

Ashlee: The first time we met still makes me smile. We met at my friend’s birthday party. Evan walked in, and I just was like, “Who is this Mr. Cool Pants?”

Evan: Then she tried dancing with me. We made out, and as I’ve said before, I think we dried-humped a bit. I know I tried to put down some of my best moves.

Ashlee: He did and still has got this bad-boy, but fun vibe going on.

What’s next for you guys?

Evan: We’re going to keep creating music, and we look forward to touring.

Ashlee: Yeah, playing live is a big plan. Also, I’d like to get back in the studio and do some pop-rock material, but now with some added soul.

Here’s what it’s really like being the design director of a fashion brand

$

Ever wonder what it’s like being a design director?

I feel like we have a pretty set stereotypical idea of what a designer does, as well as what a director does, but design direction is an entirely different, incredibly interesting ballpark.

Erin Meehan of AGOLDE is here to set the record straight. The fashion mogul began her career trajectory as a ballerina, and has now found herself at her dream job with AGOLDE, a high end clothing brand specializing in all things denim (and all things just beautiful in general, see proof here).

When I hear that someone has found themselves in a niche they really love in the wild industry that is capital F Fashion, I always want to know how they’ve done so, and how others who are interested in the same could potentially follow their trajectory and use that to find their own way.

We sat down with Erin and spoke more with her about what it is she does on a day to day basis, her favorite parts about her job, and how she got to where she is today. Also, her favorite jean silhouettes, because she knows her shit.

READ ALSO: Which Fashion Week collection are you based on your astrological sign?

See the exclusive interview and photos below:

What exactly goes in to being a design director?

Loads of research and development, while taking inspiration and working that into sketching, color, washing and fitting. It’s also important to be very clear about your creative vision for the brand while always keeping the customer in mind and translating that to the team you are mentoring. Always pushing the brand forward into the future without fear of change- It’s that delicate dance between art and commerce.

How is it working for an all-denim brand?

I have been working in denim for almost 15 years. It is incredibly specialized with the fabric and washing of a jean which makes the job challenging, but allows me the ability to be super creative. It’s amazing to keep pushing the boundaries of what a jean can do and how far you can take that, but it is also really gratifying to know you are making something that is so accessible that anyone can wear it.

Tell us a bit about your career trajectory: did you always know you wanted to be a design director?

I started out as a Ballerina. I trained at Joffrey Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet so that took up most of my time during my childhood and teenage years.

But, in my free time I would spend hours pouring over magazines. My entire bedroom wall was covered in 90’s editorials. Growing up in suburban Florida made fashion seem like more of a fantasy, not something I thought I could actually do for a living.

I had a lot of insecurities about pursuing it so it was always a secret dream of mine. After college, I met someone who gave me an opportunity to assist her at The Gap and I jumped at it. I have been working in the fashion industry ever since.

READ ALSO: How to dress like a girlboss in the office this season

What’s your fav piece available at AGOLDE right now?

Our Pinch Waist fit is amazing. Super high rise and straight with a slight kick at the leg opening. It’s early 80s inspired which I’m heavily into at the moment and has the most flattering fit.

Okay, let’s settle this: best jean silhouette? Slim, skinny, straight or cropped? Or at least, which is your silhouette of choice most days?

I tend to favor a classic straight silhouette in a non-stretch denim. It looks great with everything and never goes out of style. Crop is always great and easy to wear with any shoe but I have been really favoring a longer inseam lately. We have just taken our Riley fit to a longer length, which we are calling The Remy. The trend for longer inseams is coming back again.

What are your thoughts about the state of the fashion industry right now? Anything you’re particularly excited about? Anything you’d like to see change in coming years?

I believe we are in a transitional time right now. Celebrities and big business have taken over the fashion landscape, but one extreme always offers another. You have so many independent designers and creatives popping up who are finding new ways of working in the industry. There is more experimentation into all genres of the arts.

Fashion designers are expanding their talents throughout photography, styling, and fine art. I hope this trend of breaking boundaries will continue as I love seeing artists freeing themselves from the traditional scope of their work.

How is AGOLDE responding to the increasing demand for a more sustainable retail scape?

As a fully vertical manufacturer we are able to keep up with the most environmentally sustainable machinery. Our laundries are updated to save as much water as possible and a huge part of our line is made from organic cotton.

Is work-life balance still a thing? If so, how do you do it?

Creative work is a 24hr a day job, only it doesn’t feel like one.

It’s in a true creative persons nature to seek inspiration almost compulsively. Films, fine art, music, architecture, books and fashion are a living breathing part of my life. It is always there in the periphery at close reach to grab at. In this way you can find balance, because what you love in your free time also influences your daily work.

Juggling multiple creative projects is also something I love to do – I work as a stylist for fashion magazines like Purple and Oyster in my free time, but when I really want to shut the world off and rest I also love indulging in some bad TV!

READ ALSO: Laquan Smith’s NYFW shows have aged over the years like fine ass wine

What’s been your most exciting career milestone to date?

I had the opportunity to make custom jeans for Mick Jagger and do a fitting with him. The Rolling Stones have been my favorite band since childhood.

Any advice for young women trying to find their way into creative roles in the industry?

Know you worth, take up space, and never apologize before expressing an opinion. Learn to work collaboratively but always stay true to your vision. You must develop a strong point of view while staying open to the input of others, which can be tense but this passionate space of creative collaboration is where all the magic happens.

Singer and Galore Cover Girl, Noah Cyrus, has just released her very first EP, “Good Cry,” inspired by a two year relationship she had that was both tough and a learning experience – something Noah describes as a “self-battle.”

Now that the 6 song EP is out, we are getting a look inside of Noah’s mind, talent, and life – and it’s inspiring.

We sat down with the LA-raised artist to discuss headlining her first tour, releasing music she’s really passionate about, skincare tips, and smoking blunts on the couch with her dog.

Check out the exclusive interview and cover photoshoot below to get to know Noah and her music a bit better!

How did you first get into music? When did you realize it was really something you wanted to pursue?

Well, I’ve always been into music due to being born into a musical family. Music has just always been in my bloodline. But, what ultimately sparked me wanting to become an artist was Ben Howard. I started listening to his music and going to his concerts and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of music.

I really wanted to pursue it when I was 15 and I kept wanting to write songs but had no way of actually creating them. So my mom took me into Maverick MGMT. They started putting me into sessions immediately and I finally created the “Good Cry” EP.

Tell us about your newest EP, “Good Cry.”

“Good Cry” is super special to me because for the past two years I was in a really tough relationship and a really tough self-battle. Over that period of time, I just kept writing about what was going on in my life, and suddenly I had a cohesive 6 songs that wound up being the EP.

What’s the biggest inspiration behind the EP?

The inside of my fucked up life that nobody actually sees.

READ ALSO: Oh, just a typical day in the lives of Evan Ross + Ashlee Simpson

What’s your favorite song on the EP and why?

“Topanga” is my favorite song on the EP because I made it in my home, in my backyard, with my friend Illsey. It’s as real and descriptive as it can be about somebody that was a big part of my life at one point.

What’s a lyric from your EP that speaks to you the most?

“I can’t wash with that soap anymore, because it reminds me of you,” is my favorite lyric, and it’s from the song, “Topanga.”

You’re out on your first headlining tour right now. What are the best and worst things about heading a tour?

The worst for me is when I got laryngitis and I had to cancel my Philly show. I’ve never had that before and had to go to a new doctor and put my cameras up my nose and down my throat, which was a scary experience for me.

The best part is finally being able to go be in a room with my friends who buy and stream my music and support me, and sing with them and connect with them. And also, my main bitch, Maty Noye – who’s opening for me – is my best friend and I get to be with her every night.

What do you have on your rider?

A couple things, but definitely throat coat, red bull, fruit, and chili cheese Fritto chips.

Where are you most excited to perform?

LA because that’s my hometown and all my friends and family are going to be able to come.

What can fans expect at one of your shows?

A lot of emotion and a window into what I’ve been going through for the last two years. But I sing two covers that are really important to me, and also do a tribute to XxxTentacion in each set as well.

What are the best and worst parts about growing up in a family where almost everyone is involved in the entertainment business (aka all eyes on you)?

That is the worst part – all eyes on you when growing up when you didn’t ask for it – but I’m not complaining at all. Just saying you get some extra things along the way that you don’t ask for that can cause a lot of emotional damage.

On the other hand, you and your family members are all super talented. What’s it like growing up constantly surrounded by creativity?

My grandfather inspires a lot of my creativity in my music. He was in a gospel quartet, and I like to add a lot of gospel harmonies in my music because of his influence. My merch on tour is also inspired by my dad’s merch in the ‘90s.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to conquer musically?

Growing up in LA and going to see a lot of artists perform at the Staples Center, one of my near future goals is to perform there as well.

Tomboy or girly style?

I think I’m a weird mix. I kind of meet in the middle.

Favorite high-end designer?

I can’t choose, but my favorite item from a high-end brand is my Versace sneakers.

Favorite place to go out in LA?

I don’t go out. My favorite spot to hang is my couch with a big old blunt and my puppy, Ellie.

Best tacos in LA?

I don’t do tacos, I do quesadillas at Tocaya.

Lip gloss or eyeshadow?

Eyeshadow.

Short or long hair?

Right now I have short, but wishing I had long.

What would you first spend $$ on: makeup or shoes?

Shoes.

Best skincare advice?

Wash your face morning and night, never sleep in your makeup.

Best haircare advice?

Leave your conditioner in while you’re doing other things in the shower so you can let it sit and keep your hair silky.

What are some other hobbies you have?

Sleeping, hanging with friends, making sure I’m sane, and talking to my therapist. It’s a real exciting life I live outside of music.

What’s next for Noah Cyrus?

More music, more touring, more collaborations.

Thee Stallion, who’s touring with Iggy Azalea, knows how to spot a fuckboy

Megan “Thee Stallion” was just a regular-degular college student a year ago, and she’s now gearing up to open for Iggy Azalea and Cupcakke on their “Bad Girls” tour.

While her growing fame is taking her away from her hometown, you can never take the Houston out of Megan. Houston, Texas, that is. A city known for its chopped and screwed music, strip clubs, and, of course, Beyonce.

According to Megan, Houston is also a city that is hard to make it out of, and now that she has accomplished that, it’s time for her to reach new heights.

“People see a celebrity in Houston and we’re not going to like freak out so definitely I get a lot of love from my Houston Hotties but the farther I go from the south or just any other city they’re just freaking out,” says Megan.

With tour starting in less than a month (the first stop kicks off October 27th), Thee Stallion is hurrying to finish her new project, “Fever,” which she says is coming from a hot girl Meg persona. The last project tackled one of her alter egos, “Tina Snow,” featuring songs centered around knowing your worth and pointing out fuckboys left and right.

Much of her music touches on not settling for anything but the best and knowing what you, the bad bitch that you are, deserve.

Galore caught up with Megan to discuss fuck boy politics, her new project, and the Iggy tour. Check out the interview below!

READ ALSO: Noah Cyrus released an EP all about going through and overcoming a self-battle

How has it been preparing for your new project?

I’m just recording a lot of songs right now. Everytime I think I’m done with it, I’m like wait, no, I got a new song I need to record. I’ll go record two more times, and I’m like this has to go on “Fever.” So, now I have so many songs and I really need to go through them and pick like exactly which ones fit the theme of the tape that I’m trying to have.

Your last project, “Tina Snow,” did really well, which ultimately led you to land the Iggy tour. What are your goals with “Fever?”

With every project I put out I try to just out do the last thing that I did so definentley with this one I want to do the same. This will be like a more turnt tape. People are going to see different types of visuals. The last visuals were cool and cute but the ones for Fever, are going have a theme everything will have concept and every video we shoot is going to be cute.

How are you feeling about your first tour?

Everybody knows me, they know I love to turn up, I love to twerk and I love to show out. I feel like I’m going to set the whole tone and the swag. I’m going to be a little firecracker you know I’m going to really turn up.

I’m just really crunk about it because I came from everybody knowing me from the cyphers and just to get in front a bigger audience and people I’ve never seen before I’m just really excited about it for my first tour.

How can you spot a fuck boy?

Some of them have that look. It can be the way they dress or it could be the way that they speak like they just giving off that vibe but some of them know how to hide it. Everything is going so right until you see that one stupid text like, “yeah, can I get a pic.” 2018 has been a weird year for dudes, I don’t know what they’re going through.

What about in the club, how can you spot a fuck boy in the club?

The random dudes that pull out all their money and just flash it it in the club like spreading the dollars out and they got their homeboy recording. Or the dudes in their with 25 chains on, and they probably not even real.

Do they have a certain look?

It’s a way they put the clothes together. It’s not the brands or anything it’s just how they have it on. It could be a really nice guy with a Gucci belt but I just feel like they going to give you that vibe, their personality is going to give it off. If the first thing out his mouth is not, “what is your name,” then it doesn’t matter because you down even know me.

How do you know you have started a situation with one?

If you have to question why you would be staying with somebody 9/10 you’re not suppose to be with them. People stay in toxic relationships like just because they feel like the guy might change.

CREEP LA’s new show, AWAKE, is an experience that will get you in the Halloween mood

CREEP LA has been creeping everyone in the city out every Halloween season since 2016. This year’s show is titled, AWAKE, and it’s sure to put you on edge.

“CREEP is a fully immersive, multi-sensory, walkthrough experience. Guests are guided by a cast of characters into a realm of frightful situations and one-on-one encounters all dripping with style and dread,” boasts Creep LA’s website.

The experience is a walk through house of horrors, and we were so excited when we got to get tickets ourselves.

The show was all we wanted and more – terrifying, immersive, and very, very remanent of all things that make Halloween so fun. Definitely go and check out this show and buy tickets before it totally sells out!

We sat down with the JFI Productions team to discuss AWAKE, upcoming projects, and the best horror films rn. Check out the interview below!

READ ALSO: Thee Stallion, who’s touring with Iggy Azalea, knows how to spot a fuckboy

How did the idea of CREEP LA come about?

CREEP LA was founded by a group of friends and artists looking to reimagine the conventional Halloween experience in Los Angeles. Produced by JFI Productions, CREEP LA is reinventing traditional haunt experiences by intertwining elaborate and in-depth storytelling with interactive aspects and emotional interactions.

Three years ago, CREEP LA’s inaugural show was met with rave reviews and we have been on a mission to creep people out since. Our 2016 show entitled ENTRY told the story of a tortured artist and enlisted a cast of 35 local actors. The season finished with sold-out performances and drew thousands of people through its doors.

In 2017, CREEP LA partnered with Amazon Prime Video to create an all-new experience inspired by Aaron Mahnke’s folklore podcast series, Lore. And our 2018 show, AWAKE, is turning nightmares into reality.

The narrative of AWAKE goes dark – does this come from any personal experiences?

We definitely pulled from some real-life experiences, from personal nightmares, news headlines, and our deepest fears. We always try to focus on the human condition while we create these worlds. Something that is relatable or just “all too real” and personal.

Top 5 horror films to watch this month?

1. Halloween (Duh)

2. The Witch (atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere)

3. Suspiria *2018 ( for bold colors and visual red, red blood)

4. Hocus Pocus (3 badass witches)

5. The Shining (Kubrick at his best)

READ ALSO: Noah Cyrus released an EP all about going through and overcoming a self-battle

Why should everyone go see CREEP LA this year?

It’s a killer excuse to put down your phone for an hour and be fully present. Let your inhibitions go and let your dreams take over for a while. Everyone’s entitled to one good scare!

Creep is for guests who are eager to see familiar elements of horror and Halloween from entirely new angles. Although this year’s show shouldn’t traumatize anyone, they might be surprised by the theatricality and new direction that AWAKE takes. We are all about experimenting, so we welcome visitors who want to experiment with the kind of entertainment they seek.

CREEP LA: AWAKE is ideal for guests who want to get the creeps from every sense – see, feel, and even get creeped out by themselves and their friends. Most of all, it’s for people who want to venture into the darker side of LA and get a little weird.

What is next for JFI PRODUCTIONS after Halloween?

We have a few projects slated for 2019 that we are consulting and designing for. However, our goal is always to produce and write independently – there is just more freedom in the work and we are able to push the boundaries a little more.

After CREEP, we want to keep playing with how JFI guests can engage with environments, characters, and stories in new, strange ways. Follow our socials @Jfiproductions and visit www.JFIProductions.com  to check out our past shows + updates on what’s coming up next!

The night included performances by Lucas Bin and Frank(ie). Guests were also treated to a limited edition zine which included photographs by Gabbriette and art by Davidenth.

The collection consists of bodysuits, print tops, and accessories bearing a cheetah print. Some of Bechtel’s photography is even used as graphics on some of the tees, and a few of her tattoos are embroidered as overlays on some pieces.

We were lucky enough to sit down with Gabbriette to talk about the collection, rock n roll, and what’s next for her. Check out the exclusive interview below!

How would you describe your personal style?

An organized mess. I’m a different person every day and my closet reflects that.

What is rock n roll to you?

Not taking anyone’s shit, sticking to what you know, and love, if it’s important to you.

How did this collection come about what was the inspiration behind it?

I originally shot the lookbook for Junk Food F/W 18 collection and from there we decided to collaborate on this small collection! We were inspired by pieces from my closet that I’ve worn to death – tees and specific patterns.

I wanted to create shirts that any of my friends could wear and have forever. Junk Food’s original t-shirts are classic already so it wasn’t a hard task.

What song do you have on repeat at the moment

“My Cherie Amour,” by Stevie Wonder.

You used a lot of your friends in this collection – what does friendship mean to you?

My friends are my family. I’m inspired by each of them, they’re who I look up to, and they are my biggest supporters/vice versa.

Tell us all we need to know about this collection and where we can get it!

It’s a 9 piece collection consisting of classic Junk Food silhouettes like sweaters, tees, dresses, and a scarf reimagined with a little twist. You can buy it online starting on October 8th!

What next for you in 2019?

Oooh baby a whole array of fun projects, including music and photography.

Medmen took us behind the scenes of the world of cannabis

If you’re one of those ladies who hasn’t mustered up the courage to find your way into a dark and scary AF dispensary (often behind bullet proof doors) because it sounds like an anxiety attack waiting to happen – don’t worry. Just head to a MedMen.

No matter what you are wanting to explore weed for — whether it’s to combat anxiety, insomnia, depression, PMS, inflammation, or just to have a damn good time – MedMen has your back.

Medmen is anything but scary. We talked all about it when they first opened up their NYC location.

This laid back dispensary is known as the “Apple of weed stores,” and after I saw for my own eyes, I can prove to you that that statement is facts. Medmen sent me to Las Vegas to see the entire process, from manufacturing to consumption, so I saw firsthand how the company handles their business.

READ ALSO: Junk Food collabed with Gabbriette and some pieces are embroidered with her tats

We started in Reno, NV, where this company has its’ own grow lab, and they let us in for a tour like it was the Willy Wonka Factory. This place is def where you wanna get your premium weed from, you know, instead of your ex-boyfriend’s walk-in with the shady water system and flickering LED glow shining under the door.

They showed us just how their weed is grown in a disease-resistant labs with advanced cultivation techniques — some of the growers even used to be lilac farmers — which is way more legit, obvi.

First thing’s first, you’re probably wondering, isn’t this like, illegal? Well, federally speaking, yeah. But, on the state level — many states have passed laws to where you can use the products recreationally, and obviously, with good judgement.

MedMen takes such high precautions about what’s allowed in each state they have stores in, that sometimes the guidelines for their stores are different based on where they are! Most states have rules similar to alcohol, in California — you have to be 21+ in order to buy it recreationally.

I, personally, have had my medical cannabis card since 2012 — and have seen the laws change right before my very eyes! And, like lots of us, I had to start from the bottom, i.e. knowing NOTHING about it other than it possibly helping with my anxiety.

At MedMen — you don’t have to feel like an idiot asking that “budtender” who rolls her eyes at you when you say you don’t know the diff between CBD and THC. This store is all about letting you know not only how they grow things, but what the hell is in them, and what the benefits of each kind are.

READ ALSO: Noah Cyrus released an EP all about going through and overcoming a self-battle

At the lab, we learned the diff between CBD and THC: which is that basically CBD is a non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis that can be used for pain management and as an anti-inflammatory; and THC is the psychoactive (read: the ingredient that makes you “high”) part that’s a lil’ more intense than CBD.

But basically, if you still don’t understand — don’t be afraid to ask the MedMen peeps!

After our lab tour, we flew to their newest store in Las Vegas, where they unveiled some of their newest product called [statemade] — which is basically super adorably packaged weed products organized by mood/effect. So, let’s say you want something that’ll make you happy? Choose the “joy” pen with the cute millennial pink packaging!

Want something to make you sleep? Try the “zzz” pre-rolls packaged in blue. They’ve basically taken this whole “Apple of weed” stores to another level and color-coded it! So, no more “Girl, what the actual f*ck is Sativa or Indica?!” because now you can just pick your desired mood + desired product and be on your way.

Warning: The millennial pink “joy” is so cute, it just needs a lipgloss and it’s like you visited the Glossier of weed.

I was super excited to try the vapes since I feel like such a pothead carrying around pre-rolls or a grinder and I’m legit afraid my puppy will eat any of the bits I drop. The vape pens themselves basically look like Tom Ford designed them, ‘cause they’re like, really pretty.

After some amazing dinners, brunches, wine, and too much chocolate pie I may or may not have snuck away to the late night show of Magic Mike Live at The Hard Rock Hotel…but I’ll never tell.

READ ALSO: TRAVEL DIARY: Mariama Diallo gives us her travel tips from her Lago Atitlan trip

On our last day in Vegas, we got to see the ribbon cutting for the new store and everyone basically went bonkers ordering all the things and reading about all the new products on the nifty iPads dedicated to each product in the store.

I saw one lady who ordered one of each mood/effect of the vape pens — I guess “collect them all” is one way of looking at things? Sometimes the only way of finding what you like it to experiment!

I had tried some of the products carried at MedMen before — I’m down with the Papa and Barkley salve for sore muscles, Lord Jones gummies for a headache, and Lowell Smokes for a classic pre-roll. But after I got back home, I tried the [statemade] zzz pen — and sis hasn’t slept this well since that minor blackout on my birthday a few months ago.

Let’s just say it works and I already have a list made of which [statemade] products I’m trying next. And girl, you should, too.

Former model, Kristina Sutton, is now working on designing her label, Lakris

Kristina Sutton is a former fashion model from Siberia, and now she’s moved onto another realm of fashion world – designing her new fashion label, Lakris.

At age 15, Kristina was discovered by the modeling agency, IMG, and she proceeded to travel around the globe for her modeling work. Prior to that, the model grew up in the Middle East – where her inspiration for Lakris came from.

“When you live in an environment where you have to be respectful of the culture and religious aspects, it’s bound to have a significant impact on you consciously and subconsciously. That’s why I have been always fascinated with women from the Middle East and the mystery that comes from them not exposing their skin,” says Kristina.

The first capsule collection by Lakris revolves around one centerpiece – a timeless and versatile shirt/dress named the “Evolution.” It is a design that the former Russian-born fashion model created to keep her look effortlessly chic, while allowing for easy outfit changes to meet the demands of day and night.

Lakris sueded silk “Evolution shirt/dress” can be styled, buttoned, and wrapped in such a way that you can wear it to a fancy dinner, a night out, or walk a red carpet while wearing the same thing (maybe just styling it differently).

Lakris is officially carried at H. Lorenzo, Guild LA, Church Boutique, and Fred Segal, and the brand just had their debut fashion show during LAFW.

Kristina was previously selling privately, until one of her outfits got major press at the Teen Choice Awards. Former Fifth Harmony member, Lauren Jauregui wore one of Lakris’ looks.

I got to sit down with the designer, Kristina, and talk to her about the brand, her transition from modeling to designing, and the new collection. Check out the interview below!

How did fashion modeling prepare you to then journey into making clothing yourself?

I have been modeling around the globe for 15 years. Being a fashion model allowed access and insight into many of the most famous fashion brands. Like anything you spend a lot of time doing, you pick things up and before you know it, I felt like I belonged and have a voice to contribute.

You are from Russia, you partly grew up in the Middle East, and you have traveled the globe. Where do you pull inspiration from for your clothes?

My inspiration comes from years spent in the Middle East and Japan. I have been always fascinated with both cultures, by women who are not exposing their skin, and those who cover up in luxurious fabrics. It’s so mysterious and sexy at the same time!

READ ALSO: Noah Cyrus released an EP all about going through and overcoming a self-battle

Tell us a little more about Lakris. Who is Lakris for?

My designs are for women who are not afraid of making a chic fashion statement, yet still keep it pretty casual at the same time.

What’s your favorite piece from the new collection?

All of my pieces are equally amazing and unique, but I guess my favorite piece from the new collection – Kimono 2.0 shirt. It’s a versatile, trendy shirt/dress with kimono sleeves. Currently obsessed over kimonos!

Dream celebrity to dress in Lakris?

Chiara Ferragni.

What was it like seeing your work on stage at the Teen Choice Awards?

Absolutely epic, I mean I can’t even describe how I felt that day. I had tears of joy!

3. Keep following the same path and allow myself to fall deep in the process of creating new things! I found my true calling!

We have spent far too long minimizing and masking our sexual selves. Taking back our power means choosing to engage in the delightful dance between dwelling in darkness and radiating in light. Join the sexual revolution of the Goddess this Halloween.

Sofia Resing is perhaps best known for her work as a swimsuit model — however, the designer and businesswoman wears a lot of hats.

Just recently, Resing had her debut showing at New York Fashion Week, showcasing Mery Playa by Sofia Resing, a swimsuit collection the model designed.

Though Resing is an incredible swimsuit model, she’s anything but one-note, and this intergalactic, retro-inspired shoot is some of her best work yet. Think Mad Men on Mars. Join us as we talk Fashion Week, Moschino, and what’s up next for the young trailblazer.

How was Fashion Week? Did you have a favorite show? Which city is your fave for Fashion Month?

Fashion Month was great, and very productive.

I really enjoyed walking ETAM show in Paris, as it happened to be on the day of my birthday, a lot of my friends also walked and with Cardi B performing it was like a big fun party. It was also my first season doing Milan Fashion Week, which I really enjoyed, but my favorite city is still charming Paris.

What inspired the shoot? How did it first come about?

This shoot was inspired by the Fall 2018 Moschino Campaign. With the models starring as an “Alien Nation,” Jeremy Scott creatively used vintage 60’s styling with details of space age future.

Then, Enrique Vega (Photographer/Creative Director) got together with Patricia Gloum (Film Maker/Director). They took the idea to a next level having me playing the roll of a “Miss Universe” (a real Miss of all galaxies) that married an earthly man, moves to Earth, start wearing earth designers and has to learn about life in our planet. They brilliantly called the story “Real Housewives of Pluto,” which in the story is my planet of origin.

How did you prep for Fashion Month?

About a month before the shows I started working out 5 times a week, alternating between cardio and strength. I also slowed down on carbs and kept a healthy routine.

How was it showing at NYFW? What were some things you learned as a designer?

Showing at NYFW was incredibly fulfilling as a professional in this industry, as I put myself on the complete 360 angle of things.

I am constantly learning about manufacturing and finalizing a product, it is a giant world before it gets to the model to bring it to live and I am loving to be part of the whole process from start to finish.

We put on an incredible runway show as part of Style360 and it was beyond rewarding to see all the gorgeous girls to walk down the runway in designs that I had originally created in my mind.

Did you ever think your swim line would be where it is now?

I’ve always dreamt of having a swimsuit line and I am so thankful that Mery Racauchi brought me this opportunity, creating ‘Mery Playa by Sofia Resing’ was really a dream come true. Also I used to sketch clothes all my childhood, I was really good on drawing at school and it is so exciting to bring that back to my adult life.

What were some unexpected obstacles you faced in preparation?

Definitely time. There is never enough time (laughs) – the days before the show I was sleeping only a couple hours a night to finish all the model fittings and all other details from the soundtrack to logo gifs for the stage, from backstage access passes to front row guest list, etcetera.

READ ALSO: Here’s what it’s really like being the design director of a fashion brand

How did you go about casting for your show?

Well it was my first time operating as a client and, to be honest, I really enjoyed talking to each girl, getting to know a little bit about each one, not just seeing them as mannequins but as beautiful human beings with great personalities. I wish the modeling industry would do more of that.

What are your plans coming up? What’s next for Mery Playa By Sofia Resing?

Not only can Christina imagine it, she’s living it.

Christina has been working on developing her newest project, a TV series titled, “Blue Laces,” that’s widely anticipated (we truly can’t wait to watch).

We were lucky enough to sit down and speak with the boss lady herself to discuss her upcoming series, her books, how much she loves Google, and how she got started. Check out the exclusive interview below!

Wow! You have a pretty amazing track record for someone so young. How does it feel to be this accomplished at an age where lots of us are still figuring it all out?

I am honestly still figuring it all out, and finding myself. I feel we are always growing. changing and finding ourselves. But, something that has helped me realize my passions is first finding my purpose, which is to help people. To be able to help and inspire people through my films and different business ventures is truly a blessing!

You’ve had a big year, what have been the highs and the lows?

The lows have definitely been the struggle I went through with my self esteem and family. There were times I was living out of a backpack and my mom was in and out of the hospital.

To now get to a point where I’m noticed by Forbes for my businesses and production company is a huge reassurance that dreams do come true with hard work and perseverance. Another high would be my digital series “Blue Laces” being considered for its first Daytime Emmy nomination. I’m stoked!

So let me get this straight – not only are you an actress, you’re also a producer, a writer (three books in), a businesswoman (you have an organic makeup company), and a boss (you have your own production company)! How do you find the drive to continue to create such a poignant name for yourself?

My family and the future of my generation drive me to keep creating and to keep working hard. I want to create more opportunities for women in the industry and I thought why not create my own platform to create my own opportunities. Most of my books were made to inspire women and the youth around the world. Inspiring others is what drives me to get up every day and do what I do.

How did you get started?

I actually started off with modeling. I was scouted at the Fox Hills mall in Los Angeles and from there got signed internationally in Milan and modeled for designers like Roberto Cavalli, Cesar Galindo, Miu Miu, and more! From modeling, I branched into acting and this year tapped into film and television production.

How have you evolved over the years as an artist and a business woman?

I have grown to love myself and accept myself for who I am. I’ve learned that it is okay to mess up and to not have the answers. I also learned that things can get bad before they get better and that it is all a learning experience. I appreciate the ups and downs. I truly believe in manifesting what you want and truly BELIEVING IN YOURSELF.

If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Same goes for business. I also love Google. If there’s something I need to get done on my own and don’t know how to do, I simply just Google it. That’s how I learned how to self publish my books on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Research never hurt nobody!

Let’s talk about this brand new show “Blue Laces” that you’re acting in and also producing? How did you get this opportunity? Where do you see this project heading in the future?

I actually created the series on my own. Kind of how Issa Rae did. I used the profits I made from my books to invest into production costs. I wanted to create this series to showcase the lives affected by gun violence in the streets, and in the hospital.

The show also focuses on two women and their strength of overcoming forgiveness. I was also recently informed that the series is being considered for a Daytime Emmy nomination so I’m excited to see where this will go. Definitely interested in developing the series and upcoming seasons and getting some big names involved!

When did the idea come to you to start an all organic makeup line? How would you describe the items? How do you want your customers to feel when they’re wearing your products?

I actually do a collaboration on the makeup collection with Denise Toledo. I definitely was interested in starting my collection with organic based product for the fact that it’s more gentle on sensitive skin like mine. Being on set every other day takes a toll on skin in general so having organic makeup can assist in it not irritating it as much.

We want our customers to feel gorgeous inside and out. All shades of beauty! As beauty is universal. We want our customers to feel beautiful with and without makeup and having organic makeup keeps your skin looking healthier with or without foundation.

I’m still amazed that you’re a self published author that is being sold at one the world’s most well known book store. Let’s talk about your writing process.

I seriously love writing! I write when I’m happy, and I write my way through my problems. After writing my first script I got inspired to start writing books and inspiration journals to encourage the people around me. I normally go to my room and get in the zone. I feel like music and tv can be a bit distracting when trying to write.

I like to just have my pen and paper. I also cant write without my snacks! It’s always good to feel extremely comfortable when you’re about to start writing. If I’m ever having writers block, I just take a break and get some fresh air and come back to my project.

For scripts, I use Final Draft, and when writing my self published book, I just use word document, format it, then upload it as a pdf to createspace (for Amazon), or to the self publishing portal for Barnes & Noble self publishers.

How would you describe each book in three words?

Inspiring, Informational, and Genuine!

What has been the most gratifying experience on any set?

When I was on set with Netflix, all I could remember was the delicious catering! Every time I go to set, I’m excited about the food! But, of course, also working with talented individuals is also a blessing. I love learning from actors that have been in the game for years.

How young were you when you started acting?

I actually just recently started acting on a more serious note about a year or 2 ago. I use to do theater and background work as a child, but really started taking it serious recently.

Who inspires your creativity and drive?

My dad definitely motivates me and has always told me to never give up. That’s definitely where I get my drive from. My creativity I feel like comes from within. I have always been very creative and artistic.

Very into fashion, beauty, film, and art in general. I want to use my platform to inspire the youth, so they definitely keep me going as well. There is no passion with no purpose.

Did you ever think that you would be where you are now?

I honestly had no idea. Growing up I was accompanied by many hardships and struggles. I would’ve never thought I would be owning businesses, producing television, directing movies, and walking red carpets.

The money and fame was never the motive and will never be. As long as I keep my good heart and stay humble in this industry, I feel like there is nothing I can’t accomplish. Fear is an illusion.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I can be very sensitive about my craft but because I am very passionate about it. If I am not passionate about it, I will not pursue it.

If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing what would it be?

Focus on yourself. Don’t let relationships or outside factors affect your inside happiness and drive. Again, fear is an illusion!

Hair experts weigh in on how to handle these Fall hair crises

After three months of dealing with a multiple retrogrades, crazy hot weather, and incredibly hectic schedules, our hair has been left damaged.

Somehow Fall always brings dried out hair, split ends, and pretty much every hair crisis imaginable. Why? We’re not sure. But, we sat down to talk with some hair experts to talk about how we can fix these issues.

Read below to find out how to save your strands!

Hair crisis #1: split ends.

Crinkled, feathered, and/or tapered – split ends are the result of us not taking care of our hair. Some of the common causes range from overheating (from our hair dryer or hot weather), extensive bleaching, frequent application of relaxers, and combing wet hair. Sadly, that includes over-washing our hair.

Sean James Deceurs, a hairstylist at Pierre Michel Salon, isn’t afraid to dish his two cents on split ends.

“In order to prevent split ends, always begin your blowout routine with oils such as jojoba oil and argan oil.  My favorite is the Aspen Soil Serum. It’s developed with a lightweight formula and does not weigh down hair or create build up residue,” says Sean.

Alexandra Preston-Morley, the founder of Coco & Eve, admits that her sustainably harvested coconut oil-based  Like a Virgin hair mask is equally beneficial to save damaged hair.

“Nothing truly heals split ends, but coconut oil is the most effective ingredient in fusing the split end together and allowing the follicles to lay smooth and flat. The array of coconut benefits really help to keep split ends from returning by hydrating those parched lifeless ends,” says Alexandra.

If using a hair mask is something you’ve never done before, she recommends that we leave it on for 10 minutes in the shower. But, if your hair is ‘extra thirsty.’ She recommends to put it on overnight and rinse it out the next day as “this allows the product to really penetrate into the hair and deliver a boost of intense hydration.”

No matter how packed your schedule is, I guess it doesn’t hurt to go all natural for time-saving (and money-friendly) treatments.

Hair crisis #2: awkwardly grown out.

Flattened roots, frazzled ends, and shapeless layers are officially cancelled. After months of growing out your haircut, it’s time to let it go!

Treating yourself to a big glow up for fall has its own temptations of cutting your hair at home. No matter how much you wanna follow the Jordyn, Kate, and Kylie route of grabbing kitchen scissors, the probability is that it’ll end up being a big fucking disaster if you don’t know how to cut your hair at home.

If you trim your hair at home, Sean James Deceurs doesn’t want you to grab the scissors from the kitchen.

“I would not recommend a certain type of scissors for a client. Always seek the professional. A client should never cut their own hair. I always recommend a client to come in every 4 to 5 weeks for bang trims and face framing, which only take 5 minutes,” says Sean.

For anyone who wants to do a big chop this fall, he recommends that we either go for a “curly/messy bob to accumulate the layers for more flattering movement and texture on your hair” or a “short, baby bang'” as it’s easy to hand dry to create texture and frame the face effortlessly.

Hair crisis #3: a fried dye job.

Ugh, we hate fried hair.

After sitting down for eight hours, our hair has been through the torture of stripped cuticles, extreme dryness and gummy ends. As much as we lurveeee the visual effects of bleached blonde hair, it sucks to deal with the harsh realities of bearing damaged hair.

No matter how much money we spent on going blonde (whether it’s a $300 dye job at a high-end salon or $16 box dye at Walgreens), we still have to continually cough up our food money just to touch up our roots once a month. And, not only do we have to spend a shit ton of cash for touch-ups, we also have to book countless hair treatments just to save our poor, limp locks.

Bianca Hillier, a hair colorist at Andy Lecompte Salon and Olaplex ambassador, tells us how we can maintain a great dye job like our girl crush, Rocky Barnes (P.S. Barnes just happens to be Bianca’s client). While it’s tempting to slap on more bleach on top of our hair, Bianca suggests another pain-free alternative.

“A toner is a super quick and easy appointment if the client can squeeze in an hour at the salon. If not, I recommend using a colored shampoo for an ‘in shower toner.’ I love the perfect brunette toning shampoo by Pravana for my brunette clients that hate seeing red! For my blondes who want to stay icey and cool, I love the Kevin Murphy purple shampoo to cancel yellow tones,” says Bianca.

Staying consistent with your color may give you extra points for #hairgoals, but what if you’re bored of your current color? Well, Bianca shares her two cents on what we must do if we plan to change it up from blue to purple.

“A thorough consultation is a must! I explain to the client how corrective services never appear perfect after the first session and that it will take several phases. Use Olaplex in the salon and at home to insure the integrity of the hair color throughout the entire process. I always recommend my clients to use Olaplex no.3 after bleaching their hair,” explains Bianca.

On top of using regular ol’ Olaplex, she suggests the brand’s shampoo and conditioner to “repair any damage” for shiny and healthy hair.

Hair crisis #4: oily roots.

Equally as bad as an extremely shiny face, having an oily scalp (no matter how many times you wash your hair!) is a huge no-no.

I cannot tell you the amount of times my scalp gets oily in humid weather. Now that the temps are cooling, perhaps it’s time to put in more care into fixing your oily scalp.

From dry to clarifying shampoos, you obviously get easy quick fixes that can temporarily soak up all the oils. But if you have a ragin’ oily scalp, let NYC-based hairstylist Yoshie Sakuma save your strands with her signature scalp facial (trust us, you’ll love it as it features a blend of citrus, rose and vanilla scents to calm your hair down).

“I use Milbon Hydrating Treatment for the regular ‘Scalp Facial’ service. This treatment normalizes the scalp and helps replenish essential moisture and oil for both scalp and hair. The products helps bind in moisture and protects the scalp, as well as adding natural shine to the hair and ensuring fullness,” says Yoshie.

“For damaged hair, I always recommend adding Milbon’s In-Salon Deep Conditioning Treatment, this repairs and reconstruct hair and is specifically designed to strengthen and rebuild severely damaged and over-processed hair,” she explains.

If you are wondering what the heck is up with your scalp, Yoshie admits that “unwanted fatty acids clog the hair follicles.” As much as I hate to spit out health teacher cliches, watching your intake of fatty acids is very important to keep your hair in good shape.

Shall you go out of your way to maintain your newly cleaned scalp, Yoshie suggests that you visit Pierre Michel Salon every two weeks or “at least once a month to keep healthy scalp.”

But, if you don’t live in NYC, Sakuma swears by Milbon’s  Milbon Scalp Collection to use in between treatments as well as its Purifying Gel Shampoo and Hydrating Treatment for everyday maintenance.

BAWSE KITTY’S KORNER: Ghosting is real, and not just during October

I’ve recently experienced the semi-new millennial dating phenomenon that’s leaving me with a blow to my fragile ego – ghosting.

It isn’t totally new, and it happens everyday to the baddest of bitches, but it still threw me way off guard.

If you’re behind on lingo, “ghosting” is a term used for when the person you’re dating/seeing/texting/sleeping with suddenly stops replying to your messages, phone calls, and basically ceases to exist in your life with no warning or explanation.

READ ALSO: Sex toy subscription boxes are the best way to have some fun without having to step in a store

Yay!

It’s happened to most all of us, even if you didn’t know the term for it.

The worst part about ghosting? It actually hurts! Unfortunately, we’re supposed to just take ghosting and pretend like it isn’t painful. How does that make any sense?!

It’s really shitty when the person you were so head over heels for (or just mildly interested in and sharing intimacy with) decides they would rather leave you on read for four days (but still never miss watching a single Instagram story, of course *rolls eyes*).

But you get it – ghosting sucks. Mainly because it’s hard to know how to even react when it happens to you. You’re given no explanation to the sudden lack of communication, and you are left to wonder how valid this union really was.

And it doesn’t matter if you were just fuck buddies or if you were in a full fledged relationship – ghosting makes you sit and overthink the entire situation, when most likely, you did nothing wrong. They’re just a dick.

READ ALSO: It sucks that it’s 2018 and 54% of women hide sex toys from their partner

I have done a lot of things post-ghost to “handle” things, including spazzing and calling/texting a million times until I get a reply and going into protection mode and making sure it never happens again.

I don’t know how well any of my ghost-protection methods work, but at least it makes me feel good.

And I get it! Things happen. Sometimes maybe the ghosting isn’t even intentional or purposeful. In this age, it’s so easy to get distracted. I have my phone in my hand a majority of the day and still fail to answer texts in a timely manner, or even at all.

But, I can’t help but think that if you’re actively pursuing someone, ghosting is a huge slap in the face, and can leave the ghost-ed party feeling really embarrassed, confused, and hurt.

At the end of the day, if someone is really, truly interested in you and the relationship you are building (whatever kind of relationship that may be), they will make time to engage with you and change the behaviors that ultimately make you uneasy.

That’s just fact.

READ ALSO: BAWSE KITTY’S KORNER: Breakups aren’t always easy, but we can get through them with self-love

Again – ghosting sucks. And while ghosters may feel like they are taking control of their lives, they are actually being insanely passive aggressive and honestly, shitty af.

Anyway, if you’ve ever been ghosted and never got closure from a past fling or partner, no sweat. It’s not your fault that they couldn’t work up the courage to explain their feelings in a mature manner. Dust yourself off, get up, and try again. Hopefully the next person you get involved with isn’t as thoughtless. You will find your person!

And remember, ghosting doesn’t just occur during the month of October! Beware – there are ghosts everywhere (unfortunately).

Jasmine Elizabeth knows all about being a radiant af momma

Being pregnant is having a major comeback (I swear Beyoncé is behind this). Not that the gorgeous gift of giving birth hasn’t always been in style, but you have to admit that it’s clear that more young people are diving into parenthood than ten years ago.

Whatever the cause may be (Kylie? The job market? Mercury in retrograde? Who knows!), babies are popping out like crazy! And let’s be real, it’s giving all of us baby fever.

Well, blogger and influencer, Jasmine Elizabeth, must have been feeling those baby vibes, because she’s now pregnant (due any day now!) and glowing – only adding to the baby fever we already had.

We sat down with Jasmine to talk about being young and pregnant, and her many tips on how to stay positive, strong, and how to absorb all of that goddess energy she’s got! Check out the exclusive interview and photoshoot below!

1. Accept help!

You will have so much more support than you realize, so don’t be afraid to tell someone or ask for help.

2. Take care of yourself

In the beginning of your 1st Trimester physically and emotionally it may be tough because your body is completely changing but in the 2nd trimester it definitely gets better.

READ ALSO: Forget Elon Musk, Sofia Resing will take you to Mars with this 60s-inspired shoot

3. DRINK LOTS OF WATER

I almost fainted once, so drinking water and staying hydrated is extremely important.

4. Stay calm

Stay as calm and as peaceful as you can (which can definitely be hard when your life is completely changing). It’s important to make sure your baby is calm and happy while he/she is in there!

5. Eat more vegetables!!!

Vegetables are very healthy for your baby as he/she is growing! Eat up your greens!

6. Take care of you

If you’re having a girl (like I am) get ready to give her all your beauty! My hair, skin, and nails are so much more brittle and dry than normal. Take vitamins or supplements or use special skincare to help with these effects. That way, you won’t feel so worn out!

7. Remember what this is all about

Know that you are not alone! You have beautiful life growing right inside of you.

8. SLEEP.

Respect your sleep. Seriously. Get as much rest as you can! Sleep helps for a happier mommy and baby.

READ ALSO: Noah Cyrus released an EP all about going through and overcoming a self-battle

9. Stretch marks aren’t the end of the world!

First of all, stretch marks aren’t the worst thing in the world – they are a beautiful reminder about the life you are carrying. Secondly, there are lots of ways to combat stretch marks if they are bothering you. My secret weapon for stretch marks is lathering shea butter on your skin and then applying coconut oil right on top! Just be prepared to be super greasy for at least the next hour, lol.

10. Watch your teeth

Floss more often than you normally would. It sounds weird, but it’s to keep your gums from bleeding a lot. Bleeding gums are normal totally during pregnancy, but flossing will help curb the bleeding.

11. Get a good doctor

Find a doctor that cares about YOU AND YOUR BABY! You will be around them a lot and will have to be trusting them with your baby’s life. Also, if you don’t have insurance or can’t afford to see a doctor, there are tons of free clinics.

So, definitely do some research and you will find one in your area. Check reviews, too. It’s okay to be picky, it’s you and your wonderful child in their care!

12. Enjoyyyyyyy it

Above all things, take advantage of this time and enjoy the process. 9 months go by so fast. Talk to your baby, sing to your baby, and love her/him. Being pregnant is truly a blessing, no matter the age. Embrace motherhood!

13. STAY POSITIVE!

Duh!

Maxine Ashley moved to London alone at 13 to pursue her music career

Maxine Ashley is just a Bronx girl who moved alone to London at age 13 to start her music career because a video of her singing went viral on YouTube.

#Same.

The singer was raised on the London music scene before moving back to the states to continue her career. Now, she’s the face of Pat McGrath cosmetics in Sephora stores, has been named one of Tidal’s Rising Artists, and has a new music video releasing today on the music streaming service.

We sat down with Maxine to discuss her new music, her time in London, her natural skincare routine, and her love for all things New York City.

Check out the exclusive interview and photoshoot below!

READ ALSO: BAWSE KITTY’S KORNER: Ghosting is real, and not just during October

How did you first get into music?

I always sang as a kid and watched my parents perform, but I knew I wanted to make it a career when people starting requesting covers and videos. It made me happy that people enjoyed my voice. So I took it more serious, starting writing my own songs at 11 and got discovered by a UK label at 13 and kept going from there.

How did your YouTube channel help launch your career?

The first video I ever posted got me discovered. It went viral for what viral used to be when YouTube was starting.

What was it like moving to London so young?

It was amazing. I’ve always wanted to get my life started. I never was comfortable staying at home, going to school, doing regular things. I wanted to travel, I wanted to see more than the Bronx, I wanted to experience all the shit I used to see on TV.

Favorite thing about London’s music scene?

What I love about the music scene in London is that it was the first scene I’ve ever experienced. I was 13 running around and performing in dingy bars, clubs, and underground warehouses.

I made a name for myself at 16 with a song called “I’m In Love.” I didn’t like the song so I told them not to put my name on it. I didn’t know it would be number one for so long.

What was it like working so hard at such a young age? What’s a difficult obstacle you overcame back then, and how did you get over the hurdle?

To be honest, I was just enjoying myself, growing up, crushing on people, making music everyday, being broke as fuck, and scrapping up money to take a bus to Camden to shop for docs. I never got to experience college but I felt like London was like my college experience.

It almost made me super stressed. I was alone, no one who understood me or my culture, sometimes I’d wake up and be like oh shit, where am I? (laughs)
I got shingles at 15. By the time I hit 17, I went back home. I didn’t have a visa, either.

What do you think about labels that put artists in boxes?

It’s all a game. You have to learn how finesse your way through, control how you want things and not let anyone make you feel shitty, because THEY WILL!

Don’t allow them to put you in a box. Before even THINKING about getting signed, know who you are and what you want to stand for and I promise, it’ll be easier for you mentally.

Tell us about your song that was released through Tidal this week!

Quentin Tarantino, old Latin love, hate, messy, heartbreak, drugs, bruja, santeria, bachata, hip-hop.

How would you describe your music style?

A Bronx bitch who’s seen the world.

What upcoming projects are you working on? Can you tell us a bit about what to expect stylistically and lyrically?

I’m working on videos for songs I have ready to drop! Next one is called, “Rager.” I’ve performed it a few times. Heres the opening line – “Lately I’ve been feeling I can’t get up from my bed. It’s all the pounding in my head. Lately I’ve been drinking off my demons to forget. But they keep reminding me instead.”

I’m speaking my truth. The songs after are about the frustration and depression I was in.

You’re moving into the beauty world now, too. You’re currently the face of Pat McGrath’s newest collection in Sephora. What’s your favorite new beauty product right now?

I’ve got a bunch of Revlon and Pat McGrath products right now. With a secret sauce, Fenty beauty *wink, wink.*

Best beauty brand and why?

Shea butter and cocoa butter cause that shit really keeps me glowing!

Are you big into masking? If so, what kind of masks are you using?

I’m a natural girl. I use oils and hand make face shit with aloe.

Top 5 beauty tips you’d give someone?

1. Wash your face

2. Drink your water

3. Relax with the foundation

4. Smile even if it’s fake

5. Say good things to yourself in the mirror cause you are all you got and no one can make you feel more beautiful than your reflection!

Bonus. WORK IT!!

What’s it like living between LA and NYC? Which city is your fave?

NYC ALLLL DAYYY!! LA for the sun and the work. NYC for the love and to toughen my skin.

Which city has better nightlife? Food?

NYC. LA is way too weird for me. I don’t care to party with a basketball player. I’d rather drink with my friends and my mother and talk shit.

Both cities have good food, to be honest. NYC for culture, LA for vegan.

What can we expect from you next?

Art and love.

This young, female director just created this unreal video for Collapsing Scenery

Kansas Bowling is a young, badass, female director that just recently created a video for Collapsing Scenery’s newly released single, “Resort Beyond The Last Resort.”

The music video is eery, sexy, vintage, and reminiscent of Rihanna’s, “Bitch Better Have My Money” – y’know, where the female star of the music video takes revenge on the shitty men in her life.

Anyway, the song matches the video, meaning that Kansas has a very good grasp as a filmmaker when it comes to choosing theme. Collapsing Scenery’s music is a wild synth ride with deep, soothing vocals that will send you somewhere else – like to an Elvis themed wedding in Vegas.

Check out our exclusive interview with the director below, along with Collapsing Scenery’s newest video and some unreal stills!

Collapsing Scenery – “Resort Beyond the Last Resort” UNCENSORED VERSION from Collapsing Scenery on Vimeo.

What is this video about?

The video for “Resort Beyond the Last Resort” is based on Boyd Rice’s 1994 essay “Revolt Against Penis Envy.” I had read the essay when I was very young and revisited it right before coming up with the concept for the video. I thought feminist satire of anti-feminist satire would be an interesting concept.

Who is Boyd Rice and how did you get him in the video?

Boyd Rice is an innovative, industrial musician and artist. I came up with the concept without having met him. But I was able to get in touch with him through my friend Hunter and the Partridge Family Temple.

When I told him about the idea, he loved it. Boyd lives in Denver so we all flew out to shoot with him. The two locations in the video are his house and the famous Denver Mexican restaurant, Casa Bonita.

What are you intentions for the video? What message do you want your viewers to receive from watching it?

The video shows a woman following the instructions of Boyd’s manifesto, but not by his intentions. The video is about what can be considered offensive. Rape is, of course, wrong, but the concept of rape-revenge is usually applauded. Through Boyd Rice’s essay and this video, readers and viewers will hopefully discover where their morals lie.

What’s next for you?

I’ve been directing a lot of music videos and acting in some very exciting movies – but what I’m most excited about is the feature film I am directing right now! It’s “Faces of Death” meets “Bye Bye Birdie.”
