CMJ Music Marathon is just that…a marathon. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a newbie to the city, prepare yourself for a wild week of day parties and late-night NYC shows. With more than 1,300 artists playing around venues all over the city, a girl can get a little overwhelmed. Luckily we are here to break it down for you with Galore’s top 6 must-see acts. Once again the girls are taking over, no surprise here, and playing the most buzz-worthy CMJ shows.

6. New Myths
NYC trio, New Myths, have conquered the city with their glam pop-rock songs and are bound to capture a lot of attention at CMJ this year. Big things are about to happen for the girls of New Myths and you can say you where there from the start.
Check out our Galore Darling New Myths interview.
5. Prince Rama
The sisters of Prince Rama know how to put on a show and their trippy space-pop soars live. Go to this show if you’re into shiny yoga pants, psychedelics and you’re ready to dance.
4. Courtney Barnett
Australian laid-back rocker, Courtney Barnett, is incredibly talented with wordplay and perfecting a seemingly simple tune. This is the prime intimate afternoon show for your CMJ schedule.
3. Pins
UK girls Pins should have no problem fitting right in New York where bands like Vivian Girls have made their mark. Their guitar riffs, layered melodies and audacious vibe translate to a high energy (can’t miss) show. Plus, we want to be there to join in on “Girls Like Us”.
2. Girlpool
Some of the biggest buzz for the marathon this year surrounds LA duo, Girlpool. The girls have a unique energy and brand of DIY pop-punk songs with childlike vocals.
1. Ballet School
We have been obsessed with Ballet School- a UK band who deliver pop music that is one part Cyndi Lauper and one part Cocteau Twins. Rosie Blair has such a distinctive and gorgeous voice- which is reason alone to see their live performance.
Check out our Galore Darling interview with lead singer, Rosie Blair.
