The 2014 Art Basel Miami commences this week and if you’re like us, then you’re totally overwhelmed with the number of amazing artists showcasing their work at the festival. We’ve made a list of our top eight lady performers, painters, musicians, and photographers who are holding exhibits you cannot miss. Check them out below:
1) Stevie Nicks’ the OG Selfie Queen
The Dream South Beach is showcasing our supreme witch/hippie goddess’ collection of self portraits taken from 1975 to 1987. Just released by Nicks this year, the polaroids were taken in her home and hotel rooms on tour. Nicks describes the collection: “Some people don’t sleep at night – I am one of those people. These pictures were taken long after everyone had gone to bed – I would begin after midnight and go until 4 or 5 in the morning. I stopped at sunrise – like a vampire… I never really thought anyone would ever see these pictures, they went into shoeboxes, where they remained. I did everything – I was the stylist, the makeup artist, the furniture mover, the lighting director. It was my joy – I was the model…”

2) Pussy Riot
“Zero Tolerance: Miami,” a collection curated by MoMA PS1, features artists from the around the globe, that, “address tensions between freedom and control. Many of the works combine elements of political demonstration and celebratory parades to create art of a charged and ambivalent nature, responding to concerns specific in place and time.” The roster of showcased artists includes the Russian punk-rock protest group, Pussy Riot, as well as other innovative artists like Yoko Ono and Doug Aitken.

3) Solange
Having just finished putting on the most beautiful wedding of all time, the newly-wed Ms. Knowles is curating a series of performances with SELECT by artists from her label, Saint Heron. The set list for each nightly performance is TBD, but Solange is already confirmed herself.

4) Lynda Benglis
Starting on Thursday morning, living legend Ms. Lynda Benglis is the first performer in Art Basel’s Conversations series. She will discuss her infamous Artforum advertisement artwork of the 70s, and how the art world has evolved since then.

5) Marina Abramovic
Our personal hero and internationally renowned performance artist, Marina Abramovic will give an artist’s talk on Thursday as well. The Yugoslavian superstar will be discussing “Materials for Immateriality” along with other fashion designers and artists in the industry.

6) Kelela
The Pérez Art Museum Miami is celebrating its first anniversary on Thursday with a party hosted by DJ Collective Future Brown featuring vocals by American R&B Songstress Kelela. Located at the Museum’s new waterfront property, the program is designed to immerse guests in an evening of audio and visual performances.

7) Lucy Dodd
American artist Lucy Dodd’s art is being shown at the Rubell Family Collection’s Basel exhibit throughout the week. Known for working with huge canvases and a variety of other mediums, Ms. Dodd is one the premier American contemporary painters and sculptors.

8) Miley Cyrus
Miley will be performing at the V Magazine part on Wednesday evening, hosted by Tommy Hilfiger and Jeffrey Deitch. The event is invitation only, so good luck to all of you Cyrus fanatics. Here’s the address anyways…
