JEANNE-SALOMÉ ROCHAT IS THE CREATOR OF SANG BLEU MAGAZINE AND FOUNDING CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF NOVEMBRE MAGAZINE. MYSTERIOUS AND CAPTIVATING, SHE RESIDES IN THE TOWERS OF KOTTBUSSER TOR AND IS ABOUT TO OPEN HER FIRST OFFICE AND CREATIVE SPACE IN THE GERMAN CAPITAL.

Photographer: Kate Bellm & Story Curators: eVe without adam

EVE: WHAT FASCINATES YOU ABOUT TATTOOS AND WHY DO YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HIDDEN ONE?

JEANNE: Physically, I need way too much flexibility and openness to bear more than one hidden tattoo. Naturally, I am very curious and attracted to people who are drawn to such permanent interventions, and how that translates a servitude to or/and an emancipation from visual image.

EVE: DESCRIBE NOVEMBRE MAGAZINE IN A SENTENCE.

JEANNE: Novembre is an exhibitionist project about youth and age, moderation and excess, focused on innovative art and fashion.

EVE: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE WITHIN BERLIN’S UNDERGROUND?

JEANNE: What’s Berlin underground? The Sony Center in Potsdamer Platz is one of my favorite places!

EVE: A NASTY ADDICTION YOU WANNA GET RID OFF?

JEANNE: Jokes that are mean.

EVE: UP OR DOWN – GIVER OR TAKER?

JEANNE: Giver.

EVE: WHICH PUBLIC PERSON DO YOU DRINK HATERADE ON?

JEANNE: Being ‘public’ is a big opportunity to negotiate the conditions under which it is possible to exchange something, an information, an image, an object. I usually find anyone in that situation hard to hate.

EVE: WHAT MAKES YOU LOSE YOUR COOL?

JEANNE: Stinginess, resistance without intention or goal, hypocrisy, and people who talk too much.

EVE: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

JEANNE: Still where I am, which is nowhere really, but with more satellites! Telling more stories. Maybe writing and making movies.
