The Lazy Girl’s 5-Step Au Naturale Beauty Regimen

If you’re like me, mornings are not your thing; if sleeping until noon everyday was a possibility, you’d do it.  You figure since dragging your ass to class or work is hard enough, getting ready for your day should be as mindless as possible. With that being said, you also don’t want to stumble out of the house looking like a total zombie. Lucky for you, I’ve mastered my beauty regiment to get it down to a less-than-10-minute routine and wait, there’s more! Considering the fact your skin absorbs 80 percent of what is put on it, I made sure this routine can be done with eco-friendly, all-natural beauty products. Talk about a win-win.

Step 1 is to cleanse. My favorite face wash comes from Derma E, a brand whose products are vegan and cruelty-free. It’s made up of a combination of scrumptious-smelling ingredients like tea tree, lavender and chamomile that also combine to have antibacterial properties to prevent breakouts and control oil. Depending on your skin type, the brand carries a bunch of other cleansers to work with your needs.

The next step is wake up those lazy-ass, tired eyes (you’ll especially thank me for this step if you went out the night before, or erg, were studying all night). I use GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream from Origins. Caffeine, ginseng, magnolia extract and natural brighteners (that’s right, still no parabens, sulfates or phthalates) work together reduce dark circles and instantly de-puffs under eye bags. A tiny dollop under each eye works miracles.

Step 3 is basically three steps crammed into one easy cream: tinted moisturizer with SPF. The Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream by BareMinerals achieves light-to-medium coverage to create a dewy finish and fool everyone to envy your perfect #IWokeUpLikeThis skin. The cream’s formula hydrates while simultaneously protecting your face from both the sun and environmental stressors (thank you, SPF 30 and built-in antioxidants).

Mascara proves to be a godsend in making my half-open eyes in the morning, somehow, look like they’re awake. Sure it’s not going on your skin, but don’t you want to be nice to your eyeballs too as long as you’re treating your face so well? If you’re looking for a great, all-natural makeup brand, W3LL PEOPLE is my go-to. All of their products are all natural and organic, and their mascara is no exception. It’s cruelty-free, paraben-free, petroleum-free, gluten-free (now we’re getting trendy as hell) formula creates dark, full lashes that instantly make you look alive.

To round out your look, it’s amazing what a little dab of lip balm can do, especially if it doubles as a gloss and cure for chapped lips like this one. Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips is made of 100 percent Lanolin, which is the closet thing to the natural oils that your skin secretes. Once you get past its name, this will be your favorite item in your purse for everything from split ends to dry cuticles, and of course, your lips.

If you’re feeling ballsy, there are more than enough eco-friendly beauty products on the market to create an entire, more ambitious look (nails done, hair done, everything did), but for us lazy girls, 5 steps before you’re a fully-functioning human is enough. (Disclaimer: there are a ton of ingredient-conscious picks to chose from for each step, these are just my tried-and-true faves. The ones you pick for your own routine are up to your discretion.)
