As a single person, sometimes you have to actively try to not be that “bitter single friend.” Whether it involves pretending your happy for your friend who “made it official” with that dirtbag from the coffee shop, or helping your sister pick out a god awful preppy tie for her boo, you’ve probably done it.
If there’s one thing that bothers us single people the most, it’s those lame a** couples that feel the need to post everything about their love life on Facebook.
We may not say it out loud (or if we do we’re complaining to our other single friends), but we’ve all thought this whole time that they probably post all that sh*t to make themselves look like a way happier couple than they actually are. And guess what? A new study confirms that this is probably true.
The study, published in an online journal entitled Personality and Individual Differences, confirmed that the most insecure people are the ones who feel the need to post about their relationships constantly. The authors of the study concluded that, “it is reasonable to surmise that people with low self-esteem update about their partner as a way of laying claim to their relationship when it feels threatened.”
This totally explains why that chick whose boyfriend cheats on her every weekend is the one posting the most selfies with him, right?
In current times when Facebook knows your birthday better than your own family, it’s not uncommon to be sharing milestones on social media. However, if you need social media to make your boyfriend look like he’s not an asshole, the only person you’re fooling is yourself.
