Jez Dior Says The Internet Is To Blame For Our Relationship Problems

Music is going through a transitional phase lately. A phase where Drake samples Latin beats (and Tyga tries to copy them), and one where soul singers belt out lyrics over EDM beats.

Jez Dior is listed under the Hip-Hop/Rap category in iTunes, but the internet dubs his style as “grunge-rap,” the grunge half which is largely influenced by his famous punk-rock father, Steve Dior.

There’s no doubt that Jez raps, but his energy, guitar laden beats, and and lyrics are a bit more rock n roll than what you’d hear from another rapper. Not to mention that his style is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain’s grunge looks from the 90s, complete with bleached hair and fur coats.

We caught up with Jez to talk “grunge rap,” rapping while fucking, and how the internet is to blame for our culture’s relationship problems.

How has your dad influenced you in your musical career, albeit a different genre?

He greatly influenced my love for guitars, as you will hear we try to incorporate them in almost all of my music. I would watch him play everyday in this shed that we had in the backyard where he had his amps set up along with most of his drug paraphernalia that he hid from my mom. It was like a little rock n roll part of our house where only the boys were allowed in.

Your music has been dubbed “grunge rap,” do you think that your clothing style follows a similar genre?

My style is always changing to be honest, but the common thread is that I always just wear what I like. I don’t care if it’s trendy or who is dressing similar. I think that describes the mindset I have when I approach creating music as well. I get inspired by so many different places, people, movies, etc. I love changing it up so I never get bored with what I’m wearing and my fans musically know that everything I release will be unique and hopefully resonate with them.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop?

Trash and Vaudeville in NYC is where I get all my leather jackets from, but out here in Hollywood it’s amazing how much cool stuff you can find for like three bucks at the thrift shops. Occasionally I’ll find some cool pieces at OAK too.

You have the “painting nails” emoji on your hand, was there a certain reasoning behind this?

It was during the time when I was recording records like “Who Drank My Whiskey.” I was heavily influenced by older rock n roll culture and had started to paint my nails on the regular, so I started using that emoji all the time and it caught on with my fans. It’s still the number one used emoji on my iPhone today, I love it.

Your fans call themselves “Funeral Crew,” where did that name come from and what does it signify?

Funeral Crew is for the kids. We are the ones who never fit in, the ones who always wanted to be a part of something bigger, the ones who don’t give a fuck about all that hype-beast bullshit, the ones who aren’t the cool internet kids, the ones who just really love music.

Your latest single, “Forever” discusses how we want to believe that love can last forever, but that’s not usually the case. Do you believe that we would have better relationships if we didn’t try to hold on forever, get married, etc?

I’ve never been one to care much about the labels. There is someone in my life that I’ve had an unspeakable amount of ups and downs with over the course of many years, but at the end of the day I know that her & I will always love each other & that’s what matters to me.

Our generation seems to have so many more dating problems than our parents did, why do you think this is?

THE INTERNET!

What’s the sexiest thing a girl can wear?

An Inter Milan jersey & nothing else… I have quite a few, just saying.

What’s your biggest turn on?

Lips.

Turn off?

If you can’t hold your alcohol.

Who’s your celeb crush?

Jessica Alba & Rihanna forever.

What’s your favorite food for a first date?

Sushi.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever been asked for in bed?

Some things must not be spoken of, but one time this girl demanded that I rapped my songs while doing the deed. Sorry mom.

Freakiest DM you’ve ever gotten?

I constantly get DM’s that say “Love Me To Death” because of my song, but I also get a million foreign girls saying super freaky shit in broken english which is always amazing because half the time I’m not sure that they are aware of what they are actually saying to me.

Everybody’s got something to say about selfie culture, but Alex J. Mann figured out an especially clever — and creepy — way to say it in his new short, Me 2.

The Los Angeles filmmaker and co-founder of Space Oddity Films crafted this two-minute-long short film about selfie culture, vanity, and the possible dangers of technology, starring model Julia Kelly.

Watch the video below and read on for Alex’s thoughts on selfie culture and more.

We love Julia Kelly, how’d you cast her?

I needed someone who could subtly go from innocent to evil – her smile has range.

What was the first selfie you ever took?

A couple years ago, I heard an interview with Larry David where he said he’d never taken a picture. Inspired, I decided I’d never take a selfie. Obviously, this didn’t last. I don’t remember the first one I ever took, but let’s just say it was this one.

What was the most memorable selfie you’ve ever seen?

The selfie, or should I say “spilfie,” of me and a spider. See how I’m making this all about me? It means I get selfies.

Do you think the older generations’ critiques of selfie culture are valid? Why or why not?

Not as valid as younger generations’ critiques of older generations’ selfies.

Can selfies really kill us?

Maybe they already have and replaced us.

Looks Like Kris Is Letting Tyga and Blac Chyna Go to the Same Parties Now

Despite the rumors that Kylie Jenner and Tyga broke up because she wanted to “jet set” while he wanted to work on his “music,” thanks to Kris Jenner’s blessing, the on-again-off-again couple is decidedly on again. Which means Kris Jenner might have lifted her rumored ban on Tyga and Blac Chyna being in the same room together.

On Friday, Tyga posted a picture on Instagram of Kylie sitting on his bed with the caption “they always come back…”

kylie_jenner_tyga_together_again_galore_mag

Then they attended Kanye’s “Famous” screening together and were seen engaging in PDA on the live stream.

kylie_jenner_and_tyga_famous_galore_mag

And on Monday night, Kris even let Tyga attend Khloé’s birthday party, even though Blac Chyna was going to be there.

kylie_jenner_and_tga_khloe_party_Galore_mag

blac_chyna_khloe_party_Galore_mag

If you’ll remember to back when Kylie Jenner and Tyga first split up, a dominant rumor posited by unofficial Kardashian biographer Ian Halperin maintained that it was actually “Kris who made the decision that Tyga had to go,” because “Blac Chyna’s relationship with Rob Kardashian makes her an integral part of the Kardashian family. And therefore there is simply no space in the family for both her and Tyga.”

While Mama Kris assumed Tyga would just go away quietly, it soon became clear that even if she offered him “a boatload of money” to keep all their family secrets hidden, and after suffering from many “sleepless” nights, in Ian Halperin’s words, it looks to us like Kris Jenner has decided there was only one thing to do: let Kylie and Tyga get back together.

Still, Kris Jenner isn’t too worried about it, a source told People, because she doesn’t “think it’s permanent.”

And honestly, what’s really the harm in letting her youngest daughter hang out with her fuckboy boyfriend for another couple of months/years? It’s not like she wasn’t going to anyway.

But watch out Tyga, because you never know when Mama Kris will decide that you can’t sit with them anymore.

Diets Are Hard, So I Tried Casting A Magic Spell To Help Me Lose Weight

All month long, Galore is exploring what it truly means to be #blessed, mind, body, and soul. Click here for more health and wellness content.

It’s generally true that if a weight loss trend seems too good to be true, it’s most likely bullshit.

Still, having spent the better part of my adult life on some form of a diet, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “what if there was an easier way to lose weight than by counting calories, skipping dessert, and spending more time going to the gym?”

Like, what if there was some magic spell that I could pay some Wiccan in Bushwick to chant at me during the next full moon, or even better, what if there was a magic spell I could find online and perform on myself for free?

Sure, it sounded like a long shot, but when it comes down to it, aren’t the odds of any diet having a lasting effect on our waistlines just as big of a stretch?

I decided to try something new in my personal quest of finally getting the bod of my dreams: I began searching for the perfect magic spell.

Obviously, the first thing I did was open up Google, type in the words “magic spell weight loss” and cross my fingers that I was about to strike gold.

Believe it or not, that yielded more results than I could read in an entire day.

Unsure of exactly where to begin, I just decided to click on the first link which read, “Weight Loss Diet Spell: Instantly Lose Weight Fast — Change Your Life.”

I couldn’t believe my luck.

This was a site where with the click of a button, a licensed witch named Xara Beatrice Matsagou, whose black and white headshot indicates that she had a previous acting career in her past, would cast a magic spell on my behalf for free.

Although my gut impulse was to break out laughing and take a screenshot to send to my editor about how I’d just found the most legit source of my career, I had to admit that Xara seemed to have a handful of highly satisfied customers.

Stephany Lonergan wrote, “Xara’s weight loss spell worked for me. I’ve never been happier.”

And Adele noticed the effects of Xara’s spell right away saying, “I lost weight today! You are a miracle, Xara.”

Hell, some girl supposedly named Heather Knipp even lost 67 lbs thanks to Xara’s witchcraft.

Surely, she couldn’t have made up all of these people, right?

So after a minute’s worth of deliberation, I eagerly gave Xara’s magic a chance to work for me too.

magic_spell_weight_loss_1_galore_mag

magic_spell_weight_loss_2_galore_mag

weight_loss_magic_spell_3_galore_mag

weight_loss_magic_spell_4_galore_mag

Now, all I had to do was wait.

While I was waiting for Xara’s spell to kick in, I decided it wouldn’t hurt to actually do some research on magic spells, and in a matter of seconds, I learned that casting weight loss spells can actually be really dangerous.

According to Spellcaster Maxim, ”If something goes wrong, your weight loss spell will turn into a weight loss curse that will cause you a lot of suffering,” adding that, “It’s like having AIDS or anorexia! It will affect your health to a great extent and you’ll find yourself on the verge of death! Medicine will be powerless, and a powerful spell caster will be the only one who will be able to save your life.”

And then of course, you run the risk of having to turn to a witch who practices black magic to help you save your life, which would mean you’d probably wind up with an “alien” inside of you who would immediately start “consuming your energy” and quickly “try to take control of your mind.”

I began to have mixed feelings about having some random Internet witch cast my spell, and silently hoped that I would make it to the end of the month without having to give the little alien inside my belly a name.

Still, as the weeks went by and my pants stubbornly refused to fall off of my hardly emaciated frame, I had no choice but to come to the following two conclusions:

#1: Xara wasn’t secretly practicing black magic on a hoard of unsuspecting, desperate Internet users.
#2: Xara probably wasn’t even a witch because her spell didn’t do shit for me.

Although to be fair, since the only time I get weighed is when I go to my gynecologist’s office, for all I know, her spell could have actually helped me lose anywhere between .01 and 2.0 pounds.

And even if it didn’t, maybe the fault really rests in my hands because I wasn’t specific enough in telling Xara what I wanted out of the magic spell, or maybe it’s just because she could sense my innate skepticism and decided I wasn’t worthy of her gift.

Still, I can’t deny that Xara’s magic spells worked for Stephany, Adele, and Heather. So if you’re feeling lucky, by all means, give it a shot.

But when that doesn’t work, I’ll see you at the gym, where I’ll furiously chugging a liter of water while I try and forget the fact that all I have to look forward to when I get home is a 1/2 cup of quinoa, a hardboiled egg, and 5oz of lean protein.

Rihanna and Drake totally belong together, and yesterday the rumored couple was seen attending Nicole Scherzinger’s birthday party in London, where they partied until around 5:30 a.m.

Rihanna looked pretty in a pink cutout dress that only she could make look acceptable, while Drake took a break from the matching dad sweatsuit look he’s been rocking lately to wear a racing jacket and jeans.

rihanna_drake_party_til_dawn_galore_mag

Here’s Rihanna making that “oh shit I can’t believe I did this again” face.

drake_rihanna_party_til_dawn_galore_mag

And here’s Drake, holding up his hands to shield him from the piercing light of day.

Of course, Rihanna and Drake stubbornly refused to either arrive or leave together, but come on, if they both went to the same party and left when it was full-blown morning, there’s like a 0% chance they weren’t hanging out together inside.

In fact, there’s pretty much a 0% chance that by 5:30 in the morning they weren’t the only people hanging out together inside.

Fingers crossed that one of these days Rihanna and Drake stop trolling us about their relationship status and just come right out and say they love each other instead of twerking up against each other in concert and talking about how they “have a genuine energy” on the radio.

Well, looks like Calvin Harris has moved on from the “talking shit about his ex” phase of a breakup to the “saying he wants to bang chicks that are the polar opposite of his ex” phase.

Sources close to the DJ recently told TMZ that Calvin Harris believes all celebrities are narcissistic now, excluding himself of course, and that all he wants is a normal, non-famous, sexy Latina girlfriend to get over the conniving blonde wolf in lamb’s clothing he used to call bae.

But first, he definitely wants to enjoy banging as many chicks as possible, which shouldn’t be difficult seeing as he’s currently the resident DJ at the MGM Grand, one of the biggest nightclubs in Vegas.

In fact, he’s already honing his pick up lines — here’s one he used yesterday in Mexico that was apparently very effective.

Isn’t it cute how little effort famous boys have to put into flirting?

Oh, Calvin.

Fingers crossed you find the sexy Latina girlfriend of your dreams before Taylor and Tom Hiddleston get engaged by the end of the month, or something equally ridiculous and not at all fake.

Liam Horne has got the bad boy look down pat, but he’s got a soft spot for Prince.

The 20-year-old musician cites Prince as one of his biggest influences. Growing up in a housing project in Aberdeen, Scotland, Liam was surrounded by violence and negative influences from a young age. One of the things that always had a positive impact on him was music, and when Liam’s uncle and producer Graham Edwards convinced him to fly out to LA and pursue music, that’s just what he did.

“Music has always been a big part of my life,” explained Liam. “My neighborhood was tough and I was around a lot of bad stuff, but music was always an escape for me. I listened to everything from classic R&B to rock to hip-hop. I remember loving Al Green and Coldplay, but also hearing 2Pac and Eminem, and it all spoke to me and made me feel like there was so much more out there in the world than just the violence and sadness in my neighborhood.”

At 17, he wrote “Out of Town Girl” for Justin Bieber, and he has also written songs for Neon Hitch and Pixie Lott. Now 20, Liam is pursuing his own music and is currently recording an EP that will be out by the end of 2016. In the mean time, Liam has recording a cover in honor of the late Prince, check it out below, exclusively on Galore, along with some questions we had for Liam.

You wrote a song for Justin Bieber when you were only 17, how did that set you up for the musical career that you have now, three years later?

It was a great experience which I’m grateful for and of course writing for an artist with a platform like Justin’s has helped me get my foot in the door more. But since then I’ve taken time off from writing for other people to focus on my own music.

Can you tell us about Prince’s musical influence on you growing up?

it’s Prince, man. I don’t think you can do pop and R&B music and not in someway be influenced by him. He’s a genius. It’s so unfortunate the world has lost him so early.

At first glance, you definitely rock the “bad boy” image, do you think you live up to your looks? Why or why not? Why do you think girls love bad boys so much?

I don’t think of myself as a bad boy. I’m just me. People often associate tattoos with having a rebellious perspective. I do go against the grain, but that’s not from trying to be a bad ass, it’s just I don’t always agree with the norm. And some girls love bad boys because they feel a sense of danger.

What can we expect from your next EP?

I’m just pouring my soul out and hoping I move some people along the way.

Future’s Friends Say Ciara Was Too ‘Bougie’ For Him

When it comes to insults and drags, Future’s squad might need some guidance on how they work.

In his new cover story for Rolling Stone, Future opens up about his relationship with Ciara, and it turns out that his crew didn’t like her because she was too classy. That’s a new one.

“He was with an R&B chick, you know what I’m saying?” Mike Will tells Rolling Stone. “Ciara, she didn’t even really like when people cursed.”

“She was bougie as hell,” one of his other friends told Rolling Stone, apparently as an insult, as they all are gathered at Future’s studio in Atlanta.

Wtf does “R&B chick” even mean besides what genre of music she’s into? Well, after she started dating Future, his close friends began noticing changes in Future, from more red carpet appearances, to more smiling in pictures. He even moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles to be with her. Apparently, these were all bad, bad things in the eyes of Future’s bros.

So what’s up with Future’s squad and their beef with Ciara?

After the move to LA, Future began recording more pop tracks, like a song with Miley Cyrus and then another with Rihanna. Future’s friends really began disliking Ciara, blaming her for the obvious changes.

Future and Ciara then had a child together, and when he was 3 months old, rumors began swirling that Future had cheated on her. Then the social media drama started when photos surfaced of Ciara and her new beau Russell Wilson out on a date with Future’s son, and people basically ripped Future for being an absent parent. Future responded on Twitter, calling Ciara out for having control problems.

Despite all the lawsuits and the drama, it seems that Future still does have Ciara’s best interest at heart.

While it was rumored that someone in Ciara’s camp accused Future of wishing Ciara failure, he says he never did that. “I would never wish that,” Future says. “Her being successful, her being happy, helps me.”

Then it’s as if he is talking to her directly when he says, “I’m attached to you. If you’re happy, I’m happy. You’re connected for life. I don’t want you to go through this shit and for it to come back on my son, my kid. I want you to be in the best situation.”

Aw, well Future kind of redeems his squad’s nasty comments on Ciara when he says he wants her to at least be happy, no matter what. The rap god has a soft side.

A Real Model Details the Pressure She’s Under to Stay Thin

All month long, Galore is exploring what it truly means to be #blessed, mind, body, and soul. Click here for more health and wellness content.

If you believe what any other magazine’s diet trend pieces have to say, getting a Victoria’s Secret model body is a cinch: all you need is plenty of water, plenty of sleep, and rigorous exercise, and you can eat whatever you want “in moderation,” whatever that means.

Is it really this easy to be a glowing skinned, full haired and model-thin? Hell no. And what sort of a message are we sending to young girls when we pretend that it is?

The reality is most models focus a LOT on ensuring their diet is impeccable, and spend hours in the gym every day. The fact that your paycheck literally depends on the measurements of your body parts is a recipe for unhealthy body image.

And on any model’s Instagram, you’re more likely to see French croissants or 2 a.m. pizza instead of anyone admitting how hard they have to work to stay competitive in the fashion industry. After all, who wants to admit that having a sample sized, runway ready bod is actually work when some models tend to act as though drunk-munching McDonald’s is their only cardio?

Many models view posting loads of bread and pizza selfies as a type of defense towards critical comments about fashion model weight and diet when their very jobs depend on adhering to the sizes that the industry itself demands. But it’s this illusion of effortlessness that can be harmful to young girls and women who find fault in themselves for not living up to the standard.

And when so much of your job invites scrutiny of your body, whether your employers and friends see it as too fat or too thin, sometimes showing off food you might not have eaten is just a way of getting people to relax.

Renee Peters of Wilhelmina Models agreed to get transparent with us about the pressures of the industry, and her journey to accepting her natural body.

unnamed-2

Can you tell a bit about your first experiences with the modeling industry?

When I was 12, I was recruited by one of those modeling schools at a mall in Nashville. I remember being so excited that someone considered me pretty enough to model, that I begged my parents to take me in and find out more. After pleading and crying, they finally let me go.

When we got there, a woman explained how perfect her school was for me, and that I would surely be a successful model with her help. There were only some “minor business details” to get out of the way first. The first of which were my measurements.

My height was good. My chest was good. But when she got to my waist and hips, she let out a sigh of disapproval and told me to lose 3 inches. The standard hip size for models is 34–35 and I was a 37. She handed us a brochure full of prices to attend their “school,” and told us to come back when I had lost my “baby weight.”

This really made an impression on me. I wasn’t old enough to understand that this “school” was a scam, no matter how many times my parents told me. Even more importantly, I was way too young to realize that I wasn’t fat at all. I was just about to go through puberty, so my extra layer of “baby fat” was completely normal and healthy. I was deeply hurt leaving that office, and not only felt embarrassed about my size but also formed the idea that body size determines beauty and success.

When did you start modeling?

I didn’t start professionally modeling until I was in college and 20 years old. Because of the experience I described above, my parents wouldn’t let me model until after I was out of school, or at least 18. I definitely wanted to do it still, and even more so as I got older. I remember going through my growth spurt a couple years later when I was 14, and being the perfect young model size, 5’8″ and awkwardly skinny. In my mind I was finally ready to start being a model, but they insisted that school was the most important thing.

At the time, I resented them for that. I loved looking at magazines, was inspired by the beautiful imagery, and wanted to be just like the models. Even though I didn’t understand my parents at the time, in hindsight it was the best thing they could have done for me.

How do you feel the modeling industry might have affected your adolescence and development?

Even when I was outside of the industry, I know I was affected by it. As teenagers, we are most vulnerable to outside influence and societal pressures. We are constantly bombarded with images and advertising that sell us a particular fantasy. I wanted what those images portrayed, and believed that the best way to obtain it was by fitting in.

As most teenage girls do, I worried about my weight, what I was wearing, and being cool. I wanted to be like the women I saw in media, movies, and fashion. I would go on diets and worried about wrinkles as early as 16.

What sort of pressures did you face when started modeling?

The first thing that any agency requires of its models is for them to maintain their measurements. It is in our contracts that we will stay the size we are when we sign, so there is a lot of pressure to keep up with our figures. If you gain weight and don’t get back into shape within a month or two, you can be dropped and lose your contract. I started modeling with my mother agency as a size 35 hip, and although my mother agency is very loving, industry standards still required that I maintained those measurements so that I could sign with other agencies around the world.

When I signed with an agency in London, for instance, I was 35 inches in my hips so that was the requirement of my contract. The same requirements were held with my agency in New York, Paris, Milan, Auckland, and Sydney. I think a lot of girls feel extra pressure as they get older to keep the same size, despite the fact that change is natural as we age.

What sort of an impact do you think the pressures of the modeling industry had on you and other girls you knew?

When your entire career revolves around your looks and measurements, a lot of self-inflicted pressure occurs. That was at least the case for me. I wanted to succeed so badly that I tried to be as skinny as I could be, and was very hard on myself if I gained any weight. I didn’t really feel as much pressure from my agencies as I put on myself.

I know that some girls, who either weren’t as self-disciplined as I am or that got scouted when they were young, felt more pressure from their bookers than I did. They would get warnings from their agencies to work out more and go on diets, and that if they didn’t lose weight they could lose their contracts. A lot of them didn’t want to work out or watch what they ate because they just wanted to be young and have fun. I can’t imagine what it would be like to hear these things at 17 and 18, a time when your body is going through so many changes hormonally, and is only guaranteed to continue changing more and more. Expecting girls to maintain their measurements as they become women is unnatural to say the least.

Can you talk a bit about your journey back to your healthy weight and embracing your body?

For the past decade I based my happiness upon the size of my hips, the gap between my thighs, and the flatness of my tummy. I have gone from a size 4 to a size zero, counted calories and over-exercised. I didn’t realize I had a problem until recently, because I was eating healthy, plant-based food. I also wasn’t one of those models that smoked cigarettes instead of having lunch.  I didn’t drink alcohol, drank plenty of water, and slept a full eight hours. In my mind I didn’t have a problem — on the contrary, I thought I was doing my body good.

I now know that despite my attempts to convince myself and everyone else that I was healthy, I wasn’t. I was obsessed with what I ate and how it would impact my inches. I was underweight and definitely did not eat enough. Self reflection has allowed me to be honest with myself and helped me realize that I needed to treat myself with more compassion. Not only for myself but also for all of the young women and men who looked up to me. I am now on the journey to health. I am not so hard on myself and I have achieved a healthy weight for my body. I love my natural curves and feel stronger than ever.

Some models are naturally really thin and they shouldn’t be criticized for that, just as models who are naturally fuller shouldn’t be criticized either. I was just trying to be a thin size 0 when I naturally was more of a size 4. Beauty is about working with what nature gave you, embracing it and loving it. That’s where I am now, and I am hopeful that the industry is leaning towards more body diversity too.

Your body has naturally evolved over the course of your career. You look stunning and healthy. Has this change effected your career at all?

Well first of all, thank you so much. For the first time in a long time I actually do feel beautiful and healthy. Unfortunately my career has actually been affected a lot. Not in the way that many people might think, however. My agencies are not the ones keeping me from work. On the contrary they have been extremely supportive and encouraging. They haven’t threatened to drop me, or suggested I go on diets. They actually see how much happier and healthier I am, and because of that think I am even more beautiful.

The problem that I am finding is that designers and advertisers look for girls that are either a size 0-2 to be the face of their campaigns. If they don’t want someone of that size, they are looking at the other end of the spectrum for plus size models or celebrities. If you are a size 4-6 (my measurements being that of a size 4 US) there aren’t many print jobs available. I have been relegated to more off-camera work at my current size, doing mainly fit modeling and some catalogue shoots. The mainstream public rarely sees images of girls that are average sized. They instead see, in most advertisements, girls and women either very small or very curvy. It makes me sad to realize that the majority of what my industry is selling, at least for now, is a body type much less attainable to the majority of people.

unnamed-4

Can you give some advice to girls who are struggling with embracing their bodies?

We are so lucky to be alive and to experience this world. Too much time worrying about our bodies and other people’s opinions only takes away from experiencing it. Take a look in the mirror and realize that you are beautiful no matter what media might make you think. No one is perfect. Cellulite is normal, stretch marks are normal, freckles and moles, and different colored skin are ALL beautiful and normal. The images that you see in movies, magazines, and any other media are not. Most of the time they are photoshopped, edited, and have taken hours or even days and weeks to produce. Embracing who you truly are, and being healthy and happy are more important than anyone else’s opinion or judgement.

What are some resources that helped you to move past restriction, and may help other girls do the same?

I have learned a lot about moving past restriction and embracing healthy eating from YouTubers such as Freelee the Banana Girl and High Carb Hannah. I also love Dr. McDougall’s book The Starch Solution. On a more personal level, yoga and meditation have helped a lot when it comes to understanding the things that truly matter to me. The Model Alliance, a non-profit supporting models working in America, is also a wonderful resource for models and non-models alike.

What are some of your favorite foods to fuel your body with healthy energy and beautiful skin, hair, and nails?

Anything whole food-plant based is the best fuel for our bodies. Every day I am sure to eat lots of water-rich fruits (mangoes and stone fruits being my favorite), huge salads with dark leafy greens, and healthy starches such as potatoes, rice, quinoa, corn, and beans.

Anything else you want young girls facing body image issues to know?

Diversity and uniqueness make this world the beauty that it is. The problems that modeling industry are facing now, in my opinion, have to do with ignoring this fact. With the majority of models being all the same color, having similar features and all the same size, fashion is ignoring the multitude of beauty the world has to offer.

True beauty is more than a number. If I have learned anything from my years in the industry, it’s that the most successful models are the ones who exude confidence by accepting themselves for who they are. Being confident requires self love, and self love requires knowing your truth. No one is ever “perfect,” but if you accept yourself for who you truly are and love yourself, things that were once perceived as flaws can be your best asset.

Tasha Reign: I’m Dating a Guy Who Got Catfished by My Imposter

tasha-reign-catfish-galore-mag.jpg

Once upon a time in a land far far away called Los Angeles, there lived a cute young chap, let’s call him Johnny.

He was just like any other 27-year-old stud looking for a connection out in the lonely world, on a platform called Facebook. He was approached by a strange new human species called the “Catfish,” one that I don’t feel the need to familiarize you internet experts with.

Okay okay, I’ll start from the very beginning. Remember the article I wrote about being a dating app predator? Well, I’m still frequenting the apps and I recently discovered a unique one called “The League,” which I highly recommend. I matched with a really sweet, super hot guy who caught my attention right away. A former fraternity brother with blonde hair, blue eyes, and sharp wit, he definitely qualified for a first date.

But before asking me out, he mentioned he’d previously texted and sexted me. In fact, he said he had my number and we’d made plans to meet up, that I had apparently bailed on.

I was immediately creeped out and made that pretty clear with angry emojis and a mini paragraph about how I was an adult model and people steal my photos all the time. That was nothing new. The back pages, ads, online nonsense about prostitution — my photos and those of others in similar professions are being used illegally, its not always lucrative to sue or to try to go after the creep who posts them.

But what I didn’t know: Johnny had interacted with this person who claimed to be me. A lot. And I didn’t find that out until the third date. Our first date went smoothly enough, a casual drink/appetizer meet-up at a local joint.

I enjoyed our conversation and I ended up really opening up to him about stuff I wouldn’t usually convey on a first date. I also felt like I had known him for a while, or more specifically in retrospect, that he had known me for a while. I even kissed him at the end of our date, which I don’t usually do and I was into it.

He asked me out for a second date and I ended up having so much fun spending time with him that I spent the night and the entire next day with him. That’s when Johnny decided to open up to me and drop the bomb that could only happen in 2016 via the dark interwebs and in spooky L.A. county.

Towards the end of our date on Saturday, technically our third date, we were sitting in the sand and discussing work. I hadn’t specified yet that I do porn. Not because I was hiding the fact, but because I assumed if it hadn’t been brought up yet, then he knew. Or I had a very small thought that maybe he didn’t know and was just not that curious about how I was paying bills, but that percentage in my mind was microscopic, and I do not prefer to lead with that topic.

I alluded to the fact I had modeled as a centerfold and he blurted out, “I KNOW YOU DO PORN.” I was taken aback and a little perturbed, but all in all I felt as though the conversation should happen and there’s no time like the present. Instead of the normal conversation, though, it took a quick turn into unloading this dark and hidden secret that he had apparently been suppressing for the last 48 hours: the tale of the catfish.

First of all, up until this moment and even 25 more minutes into this continued conversation in his bedroom, Johnny still thought I was potentially the person he had had a virtual relationship with for over two months via text, over a year prior to this moment. Even though I had told him otherwise, he wasn’t solidly convinced. Oddly, as much as I relayed to him that the creep was not me, he still had a strong and persistent desire to believe it was.

Johnny told me he been approached by someone with my real name on Facebook and that they exchanged direct contact information, except — red flag — her phone number came from an email address, a very convincing email address in fact, my actual one minus a digit.

He then asked if I wanted to see the back and forth banter and of course I was thrilled. I read every word and totally empathized with him, as she or he was so specific and convincing. Not only did the catfish use my real information found online, but she stole my most candid photos off of social media and my most realistic amateur videos and sent those. She was careful to add day to day photographs that looked like I was in the moment decorating pumpkins, or out at New Year’s parties with my girlfriends.

I could tell he actually believed it and was attracted to this personality she played. It was all very disturbing. On the bright side, Johnny asked my impersonator questions about herself and how she was doing, conveying a real interest in her as a person and not just someone he wanted to bang. I saw the stolen identity firsthand, viewing the catfish’s dirty work and Johnny’s previous text messages filled with plenty of conversation around family and friends, stepmothers and drama, weird statements that seemed so real.

That made me start to question everything. What if he only like me for this person he thought that I was? How can anyone really live up to an online image, let alone a catfish image?

I already have such a protective guard up against people I meet online or even in person because of the work I do, having someone want to be with me for the wrong reasons is a constant fear. This just perpetuated that in real time and in a very dramatic way. Upset and angered, I wanted to get out of this conversation and apartment as fast as possible, especially when I read the part about him attending a coworker’s set because he knew the director. Worried he had only talked to me because he had now been watching my videos and that he thought I was the catfish he had been speaking with, I was truly disturbed.

Luckily, he saw through my impulse reactions and asked to walk with me to Starbucks and explained how thankful he was that he was able to unload this information on me because it had been building up and making him feel as though he needed to tell me something that he didn’t quite feel comfortable revealing to me right off the bat. Although a part of me was thrilled to have this new detective information, another very real part of me was annoyed and confused. I consulted my girlfriends about the event and details and they told me that he seemed like a nice guy and to give him a chance.

I also found it brave of him to reveal this odd story and continue to want to hang out. We have a fourth date planned out tomorrow, which I’m super excited for. I can’t wait to get back to beach to bask in the sun in heavenly California. We will see where this goes and I will keep my precious Galore readers posted on what is to come. Who knows, a catfish could ultimately be my perfect matchmaker, how ironic! :)

XOXOXO, LOVE TASHA

Who doesn’t love the idea of a summer fling?

“The Boys of Summer” is a song released in 1984 by Eagles vocalist and drummer Don Henley, with lyrics “You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby/And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong/After the boys of summer have gone.” And while the ideal situation is that your summer love lasts beyond the few sunny months, there’s something intriguing about a dude who’s heading back to London at the end of his summer vacation. Cailee Rae Has an EP and Her Own Smashbox Lip Gloss at Just 16

Many Instagram stars are famous for their seductive selfies, but Cailee Rae amassed 620,000 Instagram followers by sharing her voice (okay, and a few hot makeup-inspo selfies too).

At 13, Cailee moved away from Missouri to LA. Now, at 16, Cailee has already released a full EP, Overthinking, and came up with the idea for her first music video for “Anchor.” We spoke to Cailee about gaining fans through Instagram, why boys should stop telling us to wear less makeup, and her upcoming collab with Smashbox.

Tell us a little bit about yourself! When did you first discover your passion for singing? How have you worked towards your goal of being a professional artist?

Well, I’m 16 years old from Missouri. I really got into music from just being drawn to instruments and singing and wanting to find myself a hobby. When I was in second grade, I asked my mom for a guitar and started teaching myself how to play. I came out to LA to record a song that I had written for fun.  I ended up meeting a few people, staying, and from there have just grown into who I am.  I am very grateful. I really have just taken the time to learn. There is always room for improvement and learning so I just do my best to always keep improving and changing. I’m honestly just super passionate about music and love what I do.

MySpace was once the platform of choice for musicians, but Instagram is finding its place now that it allows videos. Do you think that Instagram will soon be the social media of choice for musicians as well? Why or why not?

I think it will. Instagram is a way to reach people all over the world. The video length is perfect because it’s not too long, but not too short either. I love it.

How do you think social media is changing the music industry?

It’s making it easier to get out there independently. You can distribute yourself and your music without a record label. Before, you needed a record label to really get a huge fan base and spread your music. Now you can spread and grow through [social media].

Your song “Anchor” touches on self-love. That is a really important concept to grasp, especially at such a young age. Do you think more girls should focus on self-love rather than a relationship with someone else?

I think it’s important to love yourself before loving another person. I have learned through experience that when you try to love someone else before yourself or depend on another person to make you happy, it’s hard to understand what you need. Life is always changing and throwing new challenges at you and if you take on those challenges while being sad or unloving of yourself, it makes them a million times harder (especially when you are growing up). The people around you reflect you. If you are positive and happy, your environment will reflect that.

Do you feel that you are more confident/mature than other girls your age?

I do [laughing]. My mom has always said that I was an old soul.

You came up with the concept of the “ Anchor” music video on your own, what music videos have inspired you in the past?

Yes, I mean I have always loved music videos because they bring stories to life. When I was little, I loved Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s music videos. They always told the cutest and funniest stories.

What are your Top 5 must-have makeup products?

Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer, Anastasia Beverly Hills’ highlighters, Daisy Blush from MAC, Cocoa butter chapstick, and LOREAL Carbon Black Mascara (honestly so many more, but this is what comes to mind first.) I LOVE MAKEUP.

At what age did you start getting into your own beauty routine?

At 13, I started getting into makeup and skin care. I started getting acne and I really wanted to find the best ways to take care of my skin. I also just really loved putting on makeup and doing my sister’s makeup. It was always so fun to me.

What do you have to say to makeup critics, or the type of guys who say that girls should “stop wearing so much makeup?

Everyone has their opinions and everyone is different. People need to do what makes them feel happy, confident, and beautiful. It’s not anyone else’s say. It’s what you personally feel looks good and beautiful to you. We need to respect and love more in this world!

Can you tell us about your collab with Smashbox?

I love Smashbox. They are so sweet and I have used their products forever.  I was really excited because I got the opportunity to create a customized lip gloss with them that I named after my EP Overthinking! I’m doing a giveaway soon. Stay tuned!

You’ve been dating your boyfriend for over a year, and he’s also amassed an impressive social media following, how do you two support each other both being creative artists? Is there a duet in your future?

He is so sweet. We’re best friends and love each other so much. We support each other’s craziest dreams and visions and are always there for each other. On the duet note, sadly probably not musically, because he doesn’t sing. He’s into film so maybe we could do something fun with that. Who knows, we just love being creative together. He’s the best.

[PREMIERE] Starbenders Bring Punky-Glam Rock Back With Their ‘Time Stops’ Video

Atlanta Band StarBenders are bringing back the aesthetic and punk-ish sensibilities of glam rock for their new music video, ‘Time Stops,’ a song that celebrates romance regardless of gender.

Frontwoman Kimi Shelter originally formed the band with Katie Herron after the two were sent to somewhat of a reformist nature-healing camp during their youth. Later on, they found their bassist, Aaronoius Monk, sitting outside a bar.

“He was sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette.  I sat down and we started talking. We’ve been friends ever since,” Kimi said. Guitarist Chris Tokaji joined last, helping the band fully form the angsty but classic sound they’ve been about since day one. Check out the video for ‘Time Stops,’ below.

A Ranking Of The 14 Best Male Butts In Hollywood

We still can’t free the nipple on Instagram, but the booty is definitely fair game on the gram (and in the movies). The question is, whose butt is the best?

We spend tons of time analyzing the real vs. fake ratio of Kim Kardashian’s assets, or wondering how J.Lo’s derriere shows no signs of aging, but we think it’s about time we start objectifying men for their body parts.

Seriously, I never appreciated a dude’s ass very much, until I dated a guy with a huge ass. It was only then that I realized that guy’s butts are not just super fun to play with (patty-cake anyone?), but also great to take naps on! In celebration, let’s count down Hollywood’s best butts.

14. Leonardo Dicaprio: Pancakes, Anyone?

Wolf Of Wall Street

Sorry Leo, you may have stolen our pre-teen hearts, but this ass don’t impress us much. Tbh, neither does your body in general. I know you’re 41 or whatever, but John Stamos is 52! Can’t you take some workout tips from all the Victoria’s Secret models that you’ve dated? We’ve given you the number 15 spot on this list simply because we know that women will always be obsessed with you no matter how flat your butt is.

13. Justin Bieber: Miss New Booty

Dat ass doe @johnny photo cred

A photo posted by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

Sorry Justin, but your butt really isn’t deserving of your caption, let alone the fact that you willingly Instagrammed this thirst trap that isn’t even thirst inducing.

12. Chris Evans: Ass Like That

Not Another Teen Movie

This movie was clearly filmed way before Chris Evans buffed up for his Captain America role. Bonus points for the delectable desserts, but that booty isn’t looking that appetizing.

11. Zac Efron: Squatty Thotty

That Awkward Moment

It’s hard to judge this side-butt shot of Zac, but considering how buff he’s looked lately, we’re going to assume that he’s been hitting the squat rack too.

10. Kellan Lutz: He Gotta Donk

Java Heat

Again, pretty sad we don’t get a full view of Kellan’s toosh, but it looks pretty nice regardless.

9. John Stamos: Bubble Butt

Paper

Full House? Or full moon? John’s definitely got the lighting on his side, but his 52-year-old tail-end looks pretty good to us.

8. The Rock: Baby Got Back

Ballers

This shot leaves a lot to the imagination, but we can confirm that just like The Rock himself, his ass is colossal.

7. Joe Mangianello: My Humps

True Blood

This definitely looks like the type of booty you could take a nice long nap on, don’t you think?

6. John Cena: Bootylicious

Trainwreck

Okay, aside from the poorly done fake-tanning, this butt is grade A. Like the rest of his body, John Cena’s ass looks absolutely rock hard. Even though he played a dumb, in the closet gay dude in Trainwreck, he still looked hot af.

5. Channing Tatum: Booty Call

Magic Mike

Waking up hungover with a naked guy in your apartment would be so much better if this was the view you were greeted with.

4. Jake Gyllenhall: Salt Shaker

Love & Other Drugs

Okay, so he kind of looks like he’s running away after a one night stand in this screenshot, but would you look at those perfectly rounded cheeks and thigh muscles that protrude when he runs?

3. Jamie Dornan: Anaconda

Visionaire

I used to not understand why Dornan was cast as Christian Grey, but after seeing this ass, I am now in solidarity with the decision.

2. Chris Hemsworth: All About The Bass

Rush

Thank goodness for gifs because honestly I don’t know how else I could portray to you the beauty of this booty. But for real, would you expect any less from the actor who plays Thor? If you want to see more of dat ass, check out this Tumblr dedicated to his ass.

1. Matt Bomer: Thong Song

Magic Mike

This booty is giving us a Bomer boner. Is that a thing? We just made it one. God bless you, Matt Bomer.

Gryffin Is An EDM Producer Who Also Sounds Like A Really Good Boyfriend

galore_mag_gryffin

Dan Gryffin had just gotten in from the airport after playing Electric Forest, and was pulling into his driveway, when we did our phone interview and became homies within 20 minutes. By the end of our conversation, we were talking about the pros and cons of our respective neighborhoods and making plans to hang at a concert, and he let me harass him about his romantic relationship.

What kind of DJ and producer does that? A cool one, who seems like a great boyfriend, that’s who. Get to know Gryffin for yourself, through our interview, below.

Where are you coming from?

I was in the midwest. On Friday I was in St. Louis, and yesterday I was in Michigan for a music festival. Electric Forest. It was really cool vibe out there and the weather was fun.

What’s your favorite music festival?

I just went to this one last weekend, Firefly, in Delaware and the energy really impressed me.

Did you go to music festivals before you performed them?

Yeah, for sure. The first music festival I ever went to was Coachella. I grew up in the bay area, in Palo Alto, so while I was growing up, I’d go to a lot of different types of shows, mostly rock, and even punk, and that stuff, but the first time I went to Coachella was amazing. That experience actually really motivated me to keep working on music and try and see how far I could go with it.

Who did you see there that did that for you?

LCD Sound System, DeadMau5…that was pretty insane. Paul McCartney was headlining. I grew up playing piano and guitar, and it wasn’t actually until I went to college that I started getting into dance music.

Where did you go to college?

I went to USC.

How was that?

It was awesome. I just recently moved back to LA from New York City actually, so it’s been nice to be able to reconnect with a lot of people that I went to school with there.

Did you like New York? My feeling is that everybody from the Bay Area hates New York.

It definitely is really different. The pace of life is just so different. It stressed me out at times, and now that I’m back in LA, I miss the energy there. I loved not having to drive.

As an up-and-coming producer, and a dude, how do you relate to using social media as a platform? I feel like Instagram is mostly a women’s platform.

I could see that. My problem is that I’m really not a social media-savvy person. My management tells me I need to post more. I never had that sense in my head, like about what’s a good way or time to post on Instagram. But it’s really important as an artist, to peel the curtain back, I think. People want to know what I do during the day. And so I feel more connected to fans.

Do you have groupies?

No, not really. I have people that message me stuff, but I’m not entertaining anything. I have a serious girlfriend. She’s awesome. She’s from Charleston, South Carolina. She’s really supportive.

Oh! How did you guys meet?

I befriended someone that was promoting shows in her area, and I ended up being there for work, and I was like hey, man let’s grab drinks, and he came with her best friend and her, and things progressed from there.

Wow. Does she go on tour with you?

Yeah, she does sometimes. But she’s really so great.  She’s understanding, you know, about how touring is huge part of the job. And there’s a lot of trust between us.

What’s being on tour like? I imagine it’s a lot of stress.

It’s good and bad, honestly. I really love being in the studio working on music, and it’s almost impossible to do when you’re on the road, and it’s harder to do on the road. Even this weekend, I just had a 3:30 call time on Friday, and then 4:30 AM the next day, then again 4:30, and that’s just normal.

How do people function like that?!

You basically get 5-6 hours of sleep, but then you sleep for an hour on the plane. It’s fun though, you get to go to all these different cities, and you meet amazing people. I would say it’s mostly good, of course, because I get to do what I love, but of course, it is exhausting.

How’d you come up with your moniker?

Well, my last name is Gryffin. My dad grew up in Bakersfield, and my mom’s Japanese, she grew up in Tokyo and moved here when she was 18. I Kinda named msyself after the Gryffin bird also. It took me a while to figure it out, and then after a while, I didn’t want to keep thinking about it anymore.

Do you ever wish you could change it now?

No, but it’s funny, because I was just reading an interview about how DJ Snake just picked his name randomly, and didn’t expect it to take off, but now he hates it. I still like it. There’s no negative feeling towards it.

Back in 2012 when she first got Instagram, Kim Kardashian was, well, how do I put this delicately?

She was really bad at it.

Between the out of focus selfies, the unflattering filters, and all the pictures of random items, it’s hard to believe that Kim would go on to have 75.3 million followers and be considered one of the better celebrity Instagramers around.

What a difference four years makes, right?

Here’s 17 pictures from 2012 that Kim Kardashian would never even think of posting on Instagram today.

1.

Star light star bright 🌟

So many sequins! And what’s with that music note headband, Kim? Where could you possibly be going dressed like that?

2.

I’m so full, I’ve been trying!!! 😝

Taking a picture of your computer screen? Girl, that sentence isn’t even grammatically correct.

3.

I mustache you a question…but I’ll shave it for later 👨

Oh Kimmy, you used to be so much fun.

4.

Back before Kim was a cool Mom who told all the kids to bring weed pipes to Coachella, she was just another square who didn’t know how to take pictures of food yet.

5.

How cool!!! My friends Oscar! #OscarGold

A photo posted by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Seriously Kim, wouldn’t a picture of you holding the Oscar have been a better choice? Or maybe a picture of your friend holding the Oscar? Or really anything but what you chose.

6.

Blonde hair don’t care

An out of focus red eye selfie? Only in 2012, my friends.

7.

Let the festivities begin!!!

A photo posted by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

A family photo with Kylie, Kendall, Kim and Rob in it? I don’t care what kind of peace Kris brokers between her children, you will never see this particular configuration again.

Also, don’t you love how often Kim wore sequined mini dresses with stars on them in 2012? And how she didn’t even have an app on her phone to color correct photos?

What an amateur.

8.

Good night!!!

An irreverent, lightly out of focus selfie? Never again.

Although the full makeup going to bed look is a legacy Kim has carried on til this very day.

9.

Blake Lively Swears Wearing High Heels Relaxes Her

In an interview with the very bougie Hamptons Magazine, Blake revealed that not only is wearing high heels relaxing to her, but that when she’s dressing herself, she always keeps in mind “the staircases” that her “outfit could drip down.”

In the wake of her recent futile stab at being relatable in the pages of Marie Claire earlier this month, where Blake Lively not only claimed to have “meaty eyelids” but swore she passed them down to her 15-month-old daughter whom she and her gorgeous husband cruelly named James, Blake Lively finally seems ready to come to terms with her superhuman goddess status.

After assuring that in her everyday life she likes to do totally normal human things like wearing “jeans and a T-shirt” and acting “incredibly casual,” Blake Lively reveals that she thinks it’s equally relaxing to wear her Christian Louboutin heels:

“I also like to dress up, though; I also think that’s relaxing — to put on a great pair of Louboutins.”

Which definitely includes the pair Christian Louboutin named after her in 2011.

blake_lively_louboutin_galore_mag

According to Blake, Christian Louboutin decided to name the shoe after her because when she first tried it on she said she wanted “to sleep with it under my pillow every night.”

Then, when asked about how she chooses those red carpet outfits, Blake replied, “It’s mood-based, it’s environment-based, knowing what the event is. Something like Cannes, for example, is incredibly Old Hollywood, glamorous, iconic; there’s the wind of the Cote d’Azur — you want things that will blow in the wind, that will look beautiful in the sun, that drip down a sweeping staircase. It’s the same thing with the Met: You think of the staircase that your outfit could drip down.”

TBH, it’s pretty excellent advice, and represents how far she’s come since earlier in the month when she was still struggling with JLRS, Jennifer Lawrence Relatability Syndrome.

We’re glad you’ve made a speedy recovery, Blake.

Welcome back.

Our Dream Rebound Guys for 8 Female Celebs

Rebounding after you get out of a serious relationship can be a difficult thing, and honestly, we’re not always in the best emotional state to pick out the kind of guy we really need.

For instance, we might pull a Taylor Swift and pick some boring guy we can walk all over or we may decide to go the Kourtney Kardashian route and date a younger version of the fuckboy who broke our hearts for years.

So that’s why we’ve decided to do the hard work for 8 newly single female celebrities and pick their rebound guys for them.

You’re welcome, ladies.

1. Iggy Azalea

russell_westbrook_galore_mag

Russell Westbrook

After putting up with Nick Young, Iggy Azalea deserves to be with somebody who’s actually good at basketball, who just so happens to dabble in underwear modeling on the side.

Russell Westbrook is 6’3’’, 27 years old, makes over $17 million a year, and is a five-time NBA all-star.

Really, the only downside to Russell is that he plays in Oklahoma City, but honestly, a break from LA could be just what Iggy Azalea needs right now.

Plus, did we mention he’s totally tight with Anna Wintour? Maybe Iggy can rehabilitate herself by becoming some hot designer’s muse. It’s worth a shot, right?

2. Kylie Jenner

 jack_kilmer_galore_mag

Jack Kilmer

Kylie Jenner needs to give it a rest with these fuckboy rappers and try dating a nice boy her own age, like 21-year-old actor Jack Kilmer.

Honestly, Kylie and Jack have a lot in common. They both have famous parents (Jack’s dad is Val Kilmer), grew up in LA, have ties to the fashion world (Jack’s done some print and runway work for Saint Laurent) and have graduated from high school within the last three years.

Jack may not be movie star handsome, but let’s face it, neither was Tyga, so clearly that’s not Kylie’s #1 priority.

Plus, doesn’t he just look like a sweetheart?

3. Demi Lovato

ryan_guzman_galore_mag

Ryan Guzman

Ryan Guzman is taller than Wilmer Valderrama, he’s handsomer than Wilmer Valderrama, and he’s getting cast in way more acting projects than Wilmer Valderrama is these days (which isn’t saying much, but whatever).

Just like Demi, Ryan was born in Texas and has a Mexican father, but honestly, it doesn’t even matter how much those two have in common because with a body like that, chances are him and Demi wouldn’t be spending too much time talking anyway.

4. Taylor Swift

scott_speedman_galore_mag

Scott Speedman

Honestly, what Taylor Swift needs right now isn’t some boring British guy who seems like marriage material, but an older, movie star handsome guy who exudes sex appeal, like 40-year-old Scott Speedman, a.k.a. that guy who played Ben on Felicity.

Sure she’s been burned by those guys in the past, but now that she’s older and wiser, can’t she just let herself have some hot, attachment-free sex for a while before she flings herself into her next serious relationship.

Plus, on the off chance that things did end up getting serious between them, just think about what cute blonde babies they’d have.

5. Kourtney Kardashian

NICOLAS_BERGGRUEN_galore_mag

Nicolas Berggruen

Kourtney has been going about her post-Scott dating life all wrong. First she dates Justin Bieber, now she’s hanging out with P. Diddy’s son, like does she not realize that the best way to make Scott jealous would be to date somebody older, richer, and dripping with class?

That’s why we think Kourtney should set her sites on Nicolas Berggruen, an incredibly handsome 54-year-old investor and philanthropist with an estimated net worth of $1.49 billion.

Sure, he might be a little stodgy for Kourtney in the long-term, but therein lies the beauty of a rebound.

6. Gwen Stefani

jon_hamm_rebound_galore_mag

Jon Hamm

Gwen Stefani may be a little annoying these days, but at the end of the day she’s still the goddess who gave us the gift of “Hollaback Girl,” and she deserves to be with a grown man who’s not afraid to show his nipples in public, okay?

Forget the fact that he’s been through rehab and just got out of a long-term relationship himself, Jon Hamm is insanely hot, insanely good at acting, and has an insanely big dick.

Sorry Blake, but this is the rebound relationship Gwen Stefani needs right now.

7. Mandy Moore

adrian_grenier_galore_mag

Adrian Grenier

Mandy Moore’s divorce from Ryan Adams was just finalized this year, and even though she’s since started dating some random indie guitarist, we think that maybe it’s time to switch it up and date somebody who’s not a musician for a change.

We think Adrian Grenier would be a great rebound guy for Mandy.

He’s handsome, philanthropic, successfully navigated the transition from teen heartthrob to adult heartthrob, plus, if you want to be technical about it, he has a band and knows how to play a few instruments so it’s not like Mandy would completely have to give up on her whole ‘making it work with a musician’ thing.

Plus, he just seems like he’s a really nice guy.

8. Khloé Kardashian

donald_glover_galore_mag

Donald Glover

Right off the bat, Donald Glover brings a lot of things to the table that Khloé doesn’t often get with the men she dates.

Unlike French Montana, he’s good at rapping, unlike James Harden, he’s really cute, and unlike Lamar Odom, he has no known history of hanging out at brothels, overdosing on drugs and almost dying.

Plus just like Khloé he’s 32, usually pretty funny, doesn’t take himself too seriously, and is used to people having horrible things to say about him and his work online.

6 Expensive Health Foods That Are Just as Bad as Junk

All month long, Galore is exploring what it truly means to be #blessed, mind, body, and soul. Click here for more health and wellness content.

Back in the 1960s, if you wanted to lose weight, you had to do math.

You’d eat more vegetables and drastically cut down your portions of all the fun foods, like desserts and casseroles. Then you had to log it all in a Weight Watchers handbook, just like Betty Draper on “Mad Men.” It was annoying, but it worked.

But now, health food companies have realized they could make a shitload of money off of your food anxiety. Eating more veggies has been replaced with “eating clean,” or dropping serious cash on gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free substitutes that are often just as processed as the junk food we’re supposed to be avoiding.

Because here’s the thing: while healthy food choices are really important, a lot of companies are going overboard, using your urge to lose weight as an excuse to part you with your precious dollars. Obviously it’s better to eat a veggie-rich salad instead of a cheeseburger. It’s just that more often than not, the only thing health food companies are concerned with shrinking is your wallet, not your waistline.

So we’ve assembled a list of snacks and meals most people think of as healthy and natural, that are actually similar in terms of calories, carbs, and fat to what we consider junk. Think of this as a cheat sheet to avoid wasting money on fake diet foods. Just eat actual fruits and veggies instead!

1. KIND bars

KIND bars first hit the scene a few years ago and rapidly became everyone’s favorite faux-healthy snack. Not only did they boast a gluten-and-dairy-free ingredient list, but they even looked un-processed, resembling clumps of nuts and seeds instead of chocolate bars.

But it was too good to be true. The FDA even got on KIND bars’ case, asking KIND to take “healthy” off the label (except, UPDATE: they decided they were jk and changed their minds, sorry KIND bars). And according to that same label, they’re pretty similar, calorie-wise, to a Snickers bar.

KIND bar Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt calories: 200

Fat: 15 g

Carbs: 16 g

Sugars: 5 g

Protein: 6 g

Snickers bar calories: 240

Fat: 12 g

Carbs: 33 g

Sugars: 27 g

Protein: 4 g

So the main difference between a KIND bar and a Snickers? There are twice as many carbs in a Snickers, but everything else is about the same. So if you’re really craving a candy bar, just let yourself have the damn Snickers and enjoy it so you don’t feel deprived and eat more later on.

2. Juice Press Schmear bagel

Back in the day, when I still believed “eating clean” was the answer to all my diet woes, I thought buying all-in-one meals from places like from Juice Press was a no-brainer way to lose weight. Their food is gluten-free, dairy-free, and super delicious — what could go wrong?

Then after yet another week of never seeing movement on the scale despite diligently eating clean, I checked out the nutrition info and was horrified by what I saw. Because you guys: my favorite Juice Press bagel has more calories than a Burger King bacon double cheeseburger.

Juice Press Schmear calories: 490

Fat: 21 g

Carbs: 61 g

Sugar: 4 g

Protein: 15 g

Burger King bacon double cheeseburger calories: 390

Fat: 21 g

Carbs: 27 g

Sugar: 7 g

Protein: 17 g

The verdict: I still probably wouldn’t eat fast food unless I was wasted or super hungover because god knows where that meat comes from. But next time I’m in a pinch I won’t feel so bad eating a BK cheeseburger, especially since it’s less than $2.50 while the fancy bagel is $6.

 3. Jamba Juice Açai Primo Bowl

If you’ve ever had an açai bowl, you know they’re basically a way more delicious version of a yogurt parfait or a milkshake. And since they’re stocked with a Brazilian “superfood,” obviously they’re way healthier than either of those other options — right?

Eh, not really. The açai primo bowl from Jamba Juice is not only $6, but it’s got more calories than a Dairy Queen banana split. And it’s got 99 carbs and 67 grams of sugar. Sugar is sugar, y’all, and açai bowls have more of it than most candy bars.

Jamba Juice Açai Primo Bowl calories: 490

Fat: 10 g

Carbs: 99 g

Sugar: 67 g

Protein: 8 g

Dairy Queen banana split, small, calories: 450

Fat: 13 g

Carbs: 73 g

Sugar: 61 g

Protein: 11 g

How insane is it that a banana split has more protein and fewer carbs than a seemingly healthy (and definitely more expensive) açai bowl? If you’re trying to lose weight, skip both of these.

Scratch n sniff.

4. Chipotle salads

We all like to think of Chipotle as the healthy fast food option. Deep down, we all know that’s not the case. In fact, if you get a Chipotle salad that has rice, beans, cheese, and guac, like the one pictured above, it has 1,230 calories — which is fine if it’s literally the only thing you eat all day.

Shockingly, a McDonald’s salad — even one with the incredibly fatty sounding “buttermilk crispy chicken” — has less than half the cals of a Chipotle one.

Chipotle barbacoa salad calories: 1230

Fat: 70 g

Carbs: 110 g

Sugar: 22 g

Protein: 48.5 g

McDonald’s Premium Southwest Salad with Buttermilk Crispy Chicken calories: 520

Fat: 26 g

Carbs: 44 g

Sugar: 9 g

Protein: 28 g

Guess McDonald’s salads, even though they’re more caloric than a burger, aren’t so evil after all. Also, to be fair, it’s possible to make yourself a Chipotle salad that isn’t loaded with calories if you skip the cheese, beans, rice, sour cream, and guac. So like… lettuce and meat. Have fun!

5. Alternative Baking Company vegan cookie

Ugh, when I first discovered these a few years ago, I thought my prayers had been answered. No eggs? No trans fat? And totally vegan? What could go wrong?

Well, a lot, starting with the fact that a serving size on one of these puppies is just half a cookie. Who eats half a cookie?!

In fact, you could eat two whole Pop-Tarts and still come in with fewer calories than one whole ABC cookie. Just look at the numbers.

Alternative Baking Company peanut butter chocolate chip cookie calories: 480

Fat: 16 g

Carbs: 76 g

Sugars: 28 g

Protein: 10 g

Frosted Blueberry Pop-Tarts calories, two pastries: 400

Fat: 10 g

Carbs: 72 g

Sugars: 32 g

Protein: 4 g

Obviously the Pop-Tart is less healthy overall. But if you’re trying to lose weight, a vegan cookie’s not a great option either.

6. Terra chips

Who doesn’t love Terra chips? They’re freaking amazing. But I bet because of the healthy-looking wrapper, you think nothing of eating twice as many Terra chips as Lay’s.

For me, at least, it’s easier to stop after one serving when it comes to something like Lay’s chips, because I know it’s “bad.” But Terra chips are so colorful and healthy-looking, I’ll allow myself way more of those.

Well, guess what? Nutritionally, they’re almost exactly the same as Lay’s. Whoops.

Terra chips calories in 1 oz.: 150

Fat: 9 g

Carbs: 16 g

Sugars: 3 g

Protein: 1 g

Lay’s chips calories in 1 oz.: 160

Fat: 10 g

Carbs: 15 g

Sugars: less than 1 g

Protein: 2 g

A gram of fat here, a carb there, and they’re basically the same. Oh, except Lay’s have fewer sugars and more protein. Dammit to hell.
